Hello, I'm Andrea of Sew-To-Fit, in this video I try and describe and explain the details of Skirt and Dress Fitting as I continue with measuring the body for proper hem lengths for your body type including the Curvy/Plus Size figure. I demonstrate how to use multiple methods for taking measurements on myself and then show how to measure others including the plus-size figure type.
Details are presented on what to consider when sewing a straight skirt for the prominent derriere'/buttock.

***To make the length adjustments, just add the extra length to the back and gradually return to meet the side seam smoothly.

That fitted pencil skirt in your daughter is MAJOR GOALS! ❤ I have a comparable body type and size and I have never been able to fit a skirt on me like that 😣 I was looking for the next part of the video but couldn't find it. Did I miss it or was it never uploaded? Either way, thank you so much for these invaluable tips! I'll try to incorporate them into my next project.

This is absolutely brilliant. I'm just learning to sew, and I did my first pattern--a wrap skirt--over the weekend, and let's just say the hemline was NOT at all even from front to back, and the skirt was already a little shorter than I wanted, so I couldn't really make the front much shorter. I kept thinking the pattern must have been made for people with flat butts. 😂 Anyway, this is a lifesaver, and I will definitely be doing this when I take on my next pattern. Thank you so much for putting this out there.

What if the skirt has a center back zipper? Do the general rule still apply?
