Great choice of fluid. When I did my first transfer case fluid change I also changed the bottom factory drain plug to a Dimple M18x1.5×12 Magnetic Drain Plug. This drain plug fits the transfer case and rear differential drain plug on the 5th gen 4R's.

Thanks for the writeup. I have to say, I am not a fan of the Redline MT-LV fluid. I noticed right away that the truck became very grabby on tight turns. Mine is a Limited so I don't know if the full time AWD uses a different system or not, but I am not too pleased with the results. By the way, this was the first fluid change on the vehicle which just turned 105K miles. Both diffs and transfer case had good looking fluid coming out. Nothing burnt. Almost felt like a waste of time to do the service, were it not for the silver toothpaste I cleaned off the drain plugs.

Hey love your videos. Been doing a lot of these maintenance items with them. Recently did the transfer case. I notice a vibration between 20-30 mph when driving lower speed like residential. Seems to have gotten worse following t-case change. Not noticeable on faster acceleration. I also have limited. Wondering if this could be transmission or maybe too little fluid added to transfer case. Any thoughts ?

ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-oPHNLLP6z88.html Not sure you have to use the Red Line ($50/ quart) or the overpriced OEM can of fluid($90). In this video a Toyota Master Tech uses gear oil (AmsOil or Lucas) in all 3 (front diff, rear diff, and transfer case) on a Tacoma(yes I know it's not a 4 runner but they have the same parts essentially). After watching a crap load of videos the general consensus I see is that it's OK to use gear oil in the transfer case. AmsOil and Valvoline gear oil come in the flexible containers and are running between $15-$22 a quart. Much cheaper than the $50 Red Line. FYI.
