Good information. I have the same 🪕 Have some spike that I haven't put on yet. So it's best to install them with the opening down so the string slips under and up or over and down?
So you want to install them so that the gap is facing the other strings, or so thar you have to pull the strings down and then up into the gap. And also you want the spike .286 inches away from the fret or, for example .286 inches away from your 5th fret. So you want it pretty much in the middle but just a little bit off center.
