VIDEO DETAILS:
Architectural construction details can be very overwhelming, especially if you are a student or someone just starting out. Today I show you exactly how to draw 5 of the most common construction details in the industry on ArchiCAD 24.
What makes these details so special, well they are the fundamental building blocks of architecture, without knowing exactly how some of these details come together on site, you will not be able to apply an architectural detail out of it.
The first detail is a standard double brick construction detail sitting on a concrete slab with a footing. What may seem like the most basic detail in the world has a lot of layers and components to it.
The second detail is more traditional for global construction and that’s a timber frame wall on a concrete slab.
I follow this detail up with a retaining wall detail as well as a column detail.
The most un-common but also most-common detail in commercial architecture is a tilt up concrete wall to a concrete slab detail. This detail is very raw and industrial but will have some incredible uses if you detail it correctly from an architectural point of view.

David... I can’t believe you don’t do this all completely in 3D?! Structures, bolts, screws and all. It’s easy enough between composites, complex profiles and downloadable objects, especially once you have a template. You can model it all in the 3D tab, just like you normally do, which would make it so clear to make sure things actually work and fits in real-life. Was just a little surprised by this but do like your work and content. Cheers

Would a Hebel PowerPanel be considered a tilt up concrete wall? The AAC Hebel panel is considerably lighter than regular concrete so wouldn't need backfill or as deep footings either? Cheers

This is a timely video as I am working with my detailing in my assessment. Its only a shame that I can't do mine as it really stresses me. Detailing such as "reverse brick veneer and floortech detail", "sips panel and pryda truss detail", "sips panel footing detail" and etc. with complete label. Any suggestion when can i find reference for this shi*s.

Hi David, I like you content and I enjoy watching your videos but just to point out, I think this detail is incorrect. The rebate of 172mm is correct but the external skin does not sit on the footing like this directly as you've shown, it actually sits on a rebate that would be 160mm wide and the footing is mass poured with it to form the footing below it flush to the external brick skin. Having your soil this high up the external skin won't allow you to put any weep holes which are generally place at 2 courses of bricks as well as the damp proof membrane.

This is an alternative detail and you are correct it is a possible method. I've tried to keep details as internationally relevant to everyone as possible so, there will definitely be different versions of every detail I showed.

You could save yourself from drawing that earth on every single detail by modeling it and use Solid Element Operations to subtract that from the structure. Otherwise, nice details. How about using the Detail tool?
