Today the 6.0 Bros go over the issues their project 6.0 Powerstroke has been having. We will also talk about the 6.0 powerstroke upgrades we added during this second round in the shop. What started out as a 500 hp 6.0 powerstroke build has now turned into a 600 hp 6.0 powerstroke build. We may have thrown a few extra powerstroke upgrades in the mix with this most recent build. We have had some issues with the icon heads from kill devil diesel although they have said they didn't change anything on the heads when they went back to them. So I am at a loss, but no point in staying in the past we are trying to move our 6.0 powerstroke build forward. Let us not forget out billet triple disk converter also

In this video the 6.0 Bros go over some of the many issues we have been having with our 6.0 Powerstroke build as it goes back together. (again) Some of these stem from it just having sat for so long prior and some of them are new and I have no idea how it happened. Now I did end up adding a regulated return for our fuel system and the 205/30 injectors are in as well. So Our 6.0 Powerstroke got some upgrades on top of fixing the oil leak and smoke on start up. more on that in the near future.

I can't even imagine what you do to your truck. Maybe you should do a video on the extent you abuse your truck so we more understand what's relevant and what applies to our trucks.

This engine was not abused. In fact it had very few miles on it there was an issue with a leaking valve seal, and potentially some issue with the head or rocker box that caused this. The leaking radiator was from it sitting. Unfortunate there were issue outside my control that led to many of the issues. I assure you few people take care of a vehicle as well as I do, and even though I will push this truck pretty hard once the engine is broken in I haven't abused it.

Contact SCT and tell them the ecm fried while being worked on they will reset it free of charge and you’ll keep your tunes!

My advice to others: 1. NEVER do DIY engine kits like build-in-a-box or whatever. Either buy a long block or a full running assembly and have the certified shop install it. Stay inside the QC trail. 2) I don’t care where you’ve bought your heads from, every head needs to be machined and prepped before installation. Yes, even Icon heads. These are big investments. Protect yourself from unnecessary risk and be smart! This is sad!

After everything I have been through I could not agree more. the build in a box I have come to realize is a bad idea. its easy for everyone involved in the build to duck out and say not our issue which seems to be some of what I am dealing with pretty much on all front of the build. I wish I wouldn't have listened to the shop when they said don't buy the short block just get the build in a box. I also believe not having my heads double checked by a local machine shop has cost me the first engine and was the reason this build needed to go back in. I am planning on doing a video talking about what I have learned in this build process so people can learn from mistakes I have made, and hopefully save them the thousands I lost. You're spot on with your advice man!

it broke during the first time I got the truck back. well it broke before I got it back. I do want to do a video dealing with mishimoto and their warranty policy in the near future. truck comes back tomorrow I pick it up

Can you share more about the ECU failure? Do you have any idea what could have been done to prevent it?

I do plan to talk more about it. I think the biggest issue was it sitting for so long. I am planning to have it sent down to be repaired. Which I'm hoping to learn more about what happened

@@six0bros Sounds like it got zapped! Check for a short to ground. When I first got my 6.0 i got stranded middle of nowhere it just turned off and wouldn't crank nothing. Popped the hood and it was bad I spent 9 hours cutting out and splicing together melted wires up on the firewall ended up getting a used harness for 250 and had to replace bunch of pigtails it wasn't a easy swap neither

Never ends does it! lol Any clue what caused the ECM to die? Mine failed to possibly a internal elec short in the old trans and maybe what killed my converter also cause while back chasing phantoms, my trans temp gauge went to inferno and thru the truck into limp mode. Dropped the pan and replaced the TFT sensor and cleaned out buncha clutch material no change. Swapped in my brothers ecm and fixed that issue but not long after when I was beating on her the converter wouldn't unlock

@@six0brosNo I just bought a used trans and swapped it out. But could a been a few things.1- My driving- 2 Hot Tunes- 3-driving on 38's with stock gears 4-Either a shorted solenoid or harness. 5-It just was a wore pos. 6- I've heard urban legend's of transmission problems from a shorted break light idk. but I did have to replace a melted taillight socket few months ago.

How much did all this cost i bought my 6.0 for 10 grand anticipation is spending 10 after that idk this seems like a nightmare

That sucks with your valve seals & rockerboxes also with the Pcm as well dang Jared then th torque converter wtf? It's supposed to get better. Lol
