It seems pretty fun, but still almost strictly worse than TCF, and worse than even just base sludge vs mactera. Scales based on how many times you shoot the enemy, so against guards and below (and as demonstrated, mactera) it can feel nearly useless. According to the gamefiles (thanks to Dora), this has a base damage of 60 and base radius of 0.5, gaining 20 damage and +1m radius for every extra bullet. It seems to, anecdotally, cap out at 300 damage and something like a 3.5m radius.

I think this is really cool. I'd use it to kill the guards to take out the praetorians, though. Indirect single target, I guess. Excited to try it out.

Love the buff. The TCF is very janky, and it makes sense that we have a weapon that is weaker than TFC but easier to use; it's not like DRG is a competitive game.

For sure! I would've loved for TCF's supremacy to be challenged, but this is nice too.

I feel like the only way for anything to challenge tcf ultimately is to nerf it. It’s kind of the ultimate weapon, it can mine, it can aoe, and the base shot is still decent for single target killing of web or acid spitters if you need to. It could be a primary and I’d probably take it. It is very high skill, especially to actually use the aoe in combat, and the inherit jankyness of it makes it really hard to use in very thick swarms when it is most valuable, so I don’t really think it’s a huge issue as long as other choices are useable in haz 5, which they completely are, especially with the subata changes. If they wanted to they could seperate out the mining aspect and high aoe damage aspect into two seperate mods in t5 and make either flying nightmare or heat shot an overclock instead or a mod in a different tier and that could nerf it, but they’d probably also need to make it easier to use because at that point the difficulty curve wouldn’t be worth it for most people. (Maybe make the explosion trigger like the reverse breach cutter oc instead of when it’s shot?) I think it is fine where it is now though since subata is getting buffed.

@@AppleWithABow IMO no. The TCF is still just too darned good. But, it's considerably harder to use, so newer players (or players who just don't want to try hard) might enjoy it more

ig this helps with sludge blast ammo efficiency vs medium health targets? you don't have to waste so many rounds on guards/praets/grounded wardens etc.

I kinda wish they just straight up gave it the crossbow's explosive dot thing? As in, rather then the weird 'bonus to corrosive dot' just give it that unique dot. Throw on some silly lore thing like 'due to the new delivery system, the compound only activates on already corroded targets' Make it a 50% chance to activate idfk. The rest of the updates to the weapon look truly AMAZING tho

If it was only 50%, I feel like it'd be basically a copy of Wave Cooker's T5B boiler ray, but worse since it's on Sludge only.

It's actually have a different scaling, look for SpitSentro's explanation. In two words, it can stack infinite damage and radius, but all scaling is deleted after 5 second because GSG moment

@@Ninjaguiden89 I tried it out and it's kinda dissapointing, the 2-round burst mod gives a -4 fire rate penalty and seems to not work with automatic fire. Only one bullet is fired and one one is consumed, even though it sounds like two bullets are being fired. Idk if it's bugged, but it felt terrible when I used it

TCF is just a pain in the ass, never use it personally. But i guess if you want to play modded difficulty you want to optimise as much as possible.

This is so useless. If you need AOE with driller just use EPC. You'll be doing 5x the damage with 5x the AOE radius.

There are a couple more - its mods were shifted around a bit, it got a tad more weakpoint damage, it has T5 blowthrough now, a double burst mod, and the damage mods have been consolidated and are a bit easier to pick.

I agree that on its own it isn't really impressive. However, going 21333 with explosive reload actually makes for an interesting weapon compared with CSP with disperser compound. It allows you to destroy targets way quicker whereas the CSP with disperser normally lacks the killing speed and requires either more CSP shots or a helping hand from a secondary. 21333 Explosive reload allows you to fire into crowds but also take down high value targets. It also works with poison afflicted targets so it also combo's with neurotoxin grenades Here is an example of the build.
