I really love how you're sitting in a messy garage in a double-breasted pinstripe revieving USD 1,2k shoes. Please don't change it, keep it as your signature look!

Might be my new favorite wholecut! The color and burnishing is truly a work of art and the Norwegian stitching is such a nice and rare touch. Great presentation Kostas.

Incredible shoes! In my opinion, having too narrow/tight/sculpted of a waist might clash with the robust look of the Norwegian stitching. So I really like the way they did it.

Incredible wholecut indeed. I was going to note that such an aggressive chisel may not be to everyone’s liking (I go up to a soft chisel), but then again I’m aware that at this price range there are many strong chisel lovers.

Hey Darion! Thanks for chiming in! It’s pretty aggressive I agree! That’s why for the other two models I chose more almond and soft chisels to have a good variety!

The stitching and the patina on the toe are striking. It's obviously a superb shoe. As a guy from England I guess I'm used to a more conservative style; that said, I like the way Italian lasts and styling pops and gives an edge. The shoe is lovely but I can only dream of getting a pair like this on my feet. Love to appreciate the beauty, though. Thanks Tony

I am so happy to see you on a channel. You're the e expert and I love your products. These PS shoes are proven to be worth every penny been a lot of chatter about Chinese made handmade shoes. . They last for ever and look even more fantastic as they age. They claim to be handmade and at significantly cheaper price than any European or Japanese made shoe. Do you think the low price of the Chinese shoe are simply due to low labor cost or would construction and material have something to do with it. They haven't been around long enough for us to know for sure, but do you have thoughts? Thanks!!
@MisiuAcademy
@MisiuAcademy 3 года назад
Thank you! The higher end Chinese shoes seem great. Unfortunately I won't be buying any time soon Yeossal or Acme Shoemaker purely for budget (unless the send me a review pair!) issues. It is definitely cheaper labor but as with all things, they do take some shortcuts on the materials used for the lower end. You can check out my CNES Shoemaker Review for example. Construction wise it seems to be rather solid. Is there any specific one you would like to see?!

How would Paola Scafora compare to something like Enzo Bonafe or even Gaziano and Girling?
@MisiuAcademy
@MisiuAcademy 2 года назад
I personally consider them better than GG. Handmade vs machine made for the same price too? All are great in the end just go with what is stylistically your style!
@thatxonexguy5438

@@MisiuAcademy what even makes a shoe better other shoes other than typing of welting (hand vs machine) and leather quality? I see people compare high end shoe brands all the time and it seems like theyre all the same and its just splitting hairs at that point. Theres the lasts and styling too, but i dont consider that since it falls within personal preference.
@MisiuAcademy
@MisiuAcademy 2 года назад
A lot of the internal components can vary, also the skill and experience of each person. For sure pure handmade is considered much more luxurious and better in certain areas, such as handwelting and full insoles. The quality of leather depends, for example I would never buy Saint crispins again. For such price points I value and buy handmade+aesthetics

@@MisiuAcademy i dont have really any experience with hand welted shoes, is there really much of a difference between hand welted and goodyear welted other than being able to appreciate the craftsmanship involved? And regarding brands, i already know Scafora is your #1, but how does meccariello's argentum rtw line stack up and specifically enzo bonafe? I know enzo bonfae are handwelted while argentum rtw is not if i recall correctly.

@MisiuAcademy
@MisiuAcademy 4 года назад
Thanks for sharing. Can you elaborate on why? Unless you are talking about aurum or Argentum handwelted I don’t agree with you. They are both good friends and I will visit their workshop soon. PS has a much more professional and modern website and communication
@valdencorr2861
@valdencorr2861 4 года назад
@@MisiuAcademy you said it yourself, his Argentum RTW collection is in my opinion better than PS, his shoes are simply much more aesthetically pleasing with a more refined look, just compare their waist side by side, and on a more personal note I think the Scafora's sole engraving is super tacky.
@MisiuAcademy
@MisiuAcademy 4 года назад
@@valdencorr2861 In that case it boils down to taste! I agree very much that Scafora's looks are often very aggressive. For me the Hawksbil AM last is one of the finest along with Chisel 2. A tighter waist does not make a shoe inherently better or worse. I am actually personally not a huge fan of super beveled waists like the japanese shoes. I love the engraving on the sole. But in the end it depends how much you like it yourself! Both are great, you just pick up the one you like the most. One thing I prefer about Scafora is that MTOs take 4-8 weeks to make while with Antonio you often need to wait 8 months. Great shoemakers, I can't wait to meet them both soon!
@valdencorr2861
@valdencorr2861 4 года назад
@@MisiuAcademy I agree the long waiting time for the AMs is a turn off, however good things take time. Construction wise, why do you think PS makes the best hand made shoe that AM for example can not match or even surpass?
@MisiuAcademy
@MisiuAcademy 4 года назад
@@valdencorr2861 "best" is quite subjective as I mentioned in the video. For me it is the fact that I have long, hands on experience with the Scafora shoes, the presentation, the box quality, the stitching, finishing, materials (even the cap toe reinforcement is real leather) and the ease of communication + professionalism with Paolo and his team. Aurum costs much more actually and you have to be very careful with Argentum as not all of them are hand welted (Dux for example is a mix of GY and HW). Also, never said that AM cannot match or surpass PS. I would take both brands any day of the week over things like John Lobb, Edward Green and even Saint Crispin's (I dislike their creasing leather and stiffness though they are great shoes). I guess I will have a much better idea when I visit both workshops!
