Omg, Street lights on get inside this was the rule we use to live by.. 109th Street and Vermont. My moms TC stayed down for our dad Chino was our second home my mother was a terrific cook as your mother was too… She would bring dinner for everyone picnic and it was what we visualized as well. My moms enchiladas was a hit in the 70’s at Chino. West side was well taken care of, the homes were groomed in detail.. We could walk from Elsegundo to Manchester Avenue down Vermont or Normandie from east to the west side me and my sister was all over South Central. I miss LA. We use to live on 107th behind the fire station as well.. We lived all over South Central we moved a lot. We were never at the same school for more than two years ever. South Side Christian Palace, I loved going into that building for church.. Wow..

The Movie Theater that Ms Bonnie, didn't remember that was on Imperial was called The "South Side" Movie Theater. Reason why I know is because my Parents took me and my Brother and Sisters to go see The Ten Comandments there.. My Family a Mexican Family, lived on 110 ST between Vermont Ave and Budlong. We lived there from 1966 to 1971 I went to Wood Crest Elementry Saint Francis Cabrini Chatholic Church and School, were I did my first Communion. Peary Jr High School, in Gardena, and the last School Henry Clay, were I was kicked out after only 2 days there, for stealing a Screw Driver from Wood Shop class. Iwas an impulse, I never! used it. I was kicked out also from the other Schools either for Fighting or just plane didn't and couldn't vocus like I should have for School. I was the youngest in the Family. So since my Brother and Sisters were older they went to Henry Clay, graduated there and also they graduated from Washington High School. As a matter of fact their graduation was held at the LA Colosium. Ms Bonnie, you took me back to my childhood. What a Historical chain of Event occurred in those year. When we moved there it was 98 percent White. But as soon as a Black couple move next door to an Apartment complex that was right next to my Family's house, with in a few months it seem like the neighborhood changed completely in my block there was just my Family and about five homes down there was a Costa Rican Family. And the rest were Black Families. Un forgettable memories. Really set my Life in Motion.Then from 1972 to 1976 we lived in Downey, which was 90% White snd the other 10% where Chicanos Mexicanos. Talk about Culture Shock. Lol.

Angel reading your post caught my eye. I went to Saint Frances on Imperial & Normandie. Do you remember Sister Marie Vianny she was funny. I lived across the street next to what was then "The white Front store.. and behind our building was a big empty field. Of course today there is only 1 of the 3 units still standing. Underneath the freeway. I graduated from Cabrini in 72-73 then went to Peary Jr in Gardena 73-74 then moved out of the area.. Your post and this interview brought back memories of youth gone by..Small world when you find a complete stranger who went to the same schools in the old neighborhood..

Good afternoon! and Merry Christmas! to you. Hope you are having a blessed! time celebrating with your loved ones. I don't know your name. Perhaps you dont want to share that in public, anyway yes!! it's a small world so you went to Saint Francis Cabrini also!. what a trip, I don't remember Sister Marie Vianny, but I do remember Sister Maria De la Cruz.,. and the Principal her name was Sister Judith she gave me a couple of paddle swats ouch lol and with her secretary there watching.I said to Sister Judith, why is the secretary here, and Sister Judith told me that a witness had to watch. That was so embarrassing! to pull my pants down in front of them both But I'm not a hater. l do I remember one of the priest was from India I believe short dark completed. I was at that school I would say around 1967 68 I was in the Church choir for a little while. I don't know if you got a chance to do this there, but the nuns would have the student if they wanted to go on a field trip, they would give us boxes of Almond Roca Candy and little plastic Virgens Mary with a magnet on it to sale and of course the more that was sold the better chance of going on a field trip which was to Disneyland. So I took some boxes with the statues and would go door to door in my neighborhood. With the help also of my Mother who took some to her job, and low and behold enough were sold for me to go on the field trip. I remember the Sisters would have us sing on the bus on the way over to Disneyland, and also join in. The song "It a Brand New Day". That was a wonderful Experience had alot of fun that day. Unforgettable!. I enjoyed the carnivals they had at the back of the church raffle they would raffle different things do remember the White Front by the Church/School. I believe latter or before the store was also called Two Guys!. I have black and white photos of my first Communion. Did you make your first Communion there at SFC I was around 9 or 10. The uniform we wore was I think blue Sweater white shirt Grey pants something like that. Do you remember? 1 day out of the week free dress were we could wear street close. Yea we had to move by the end of 71 because I was getting older and was getting in deeper trouble. But I do cherish those memories of my childhood in living on the west side of So LA even if they were not all good moments because of the Crips controlling that Area. One more thing I Love!! the Sloppy Joe's from lunch time. They were so good!!!😋 i missed that to this day.Thank you for sharing some of your memories with me.🙏 🙏🌺🌼🌿🌸

@@angelceja7352 Sister Judith awwwe I remember her. They paddled you? Oh heck no...My mother wouldn't taken care of her.. i remembered going into 6th grade there was a nun sister Catherine Ann who on the last day of school told me she "Couldn't Wait To get me in her class" that I was on her list...I had no idea what she was talking...My mother showed up to school to confront her. Of course they refused to let my mother and they ended up transferring that nun..So did you graduate from Cabrini. Do you remember anyone you hung out with.

When you are her age and have 8 siblings and you were the baby, her oldest brothers or sisters were probably born in the late 30s or early 40s and would be in their early 80s. So for her older siblings, they would have been teenagers in the 1950s....an entirely different LA world than been a teenager in the late sixties, or late seventies, or eighties, etc.

Ricardo "Bub" Sims, Donald Archie, Mouse, Mike Concepion, Conrad, Craig Craddock (1st Crip killed), Michael Ariwine. She lived around my grandparents, 22nd and Cenral Ave. Projects were fun back then. The gangs in the 50s and early 60s fought the racists before they turned on each other. Barry White was with the Slausons in the early 60s. Her media projects will be really good. She's eight about the drugs, and no gangs. We moved to 94th and Budlong during the '65 Riots. We were only the third black family on the block, and we did have a few Latinos, but it was mostly white. It was 1970. I got to Washington in '69. I used feed them at McDonald's after they had meetings at St. Andrews Park, Manchester and St. Andrews. I had to know her, because I wasn't a Crip, but I knew them all. Toookie was there for that 1st meeting with Raymond Washington.

@@joemosely9383 When Barry was a teen, he went to Jacob Riis High (now Bethune Jr. High since q969), which was a school for boys who got Into trouble at their regular high schools. He learned during that time about passion for musi, and he himself has told the story about how he used to walk from South Central L.A., to Hollywood to pursue his dream of becoming successful in music, which he did. Beside being friends with the family members I mentioned, a cousin from the other side of the family, David T. Walker, is a guitarist, who played on many of Barry's albums. On Love's Theme, that's David T. on lead guitar. I just sW a clip of Barry a few months ago, where he was on Johnny Carson (or one of those show), and he himself told them where he was during the Watts Riot in 1965. The map at 19:57 thats a fortress.. that folks is why cointel pro was created..imagine if they had the foresight to see the political and economical power they wielded the defensive/offensive power was evident they wouldve ran the city literally. somebody created chaos before they could realize that thanks for the history it’s appreciated

I get lost every time someone ask about interviewing Crip Jackie… did she pass or not? That’s the question. Supposedly there’s two.
@KevMacVideos
@KevMacVideos 2 года назад
He mentioned Jackie I know Jackie Todd passed but people always tell me they can get Crip Jackie on or they just left her and I be like… hmmm. How does that work? Pam would probably be good too.
