“The Sea of the Soul: Creation and Change” will be our Sunday talk series in June. It builds on May’s series about symbols, myths, and metaphors. Water is among humankind’s earliest imaginative fields of play, along with sky. Most metaphysical philosophers liken bodies of water to the limitless subconscious-impressionable, powerful, and relentless in rising to its own level. This sheds a whole new light on how water appears in sacred scriptures, from tales of a global Deluge to water becoming wine to walking upon a sea. Though depicted as historical, outer events, these are actually timeless inner journeys into greater awareness.
Today Rev. Jesse is wrapping up the series inspired by water. He reminds us that we use metaphors tp explain the inexplicable and that there was another teacher who taught in parables for a similar reason. When we have to work for the lesson then we internalize the lesson. Rev. Jesse also gave us his definition of consciousness. He reminds us that we are often not taught how to process how we feel about things and goes into why it is important that we learn to figure that out. He then suggests that we call for magic in our lives but be aware that we can't completely control it when we do.
