Be careful when taking a deleted truck to your dealership for a recall item. Here in CA, the dealership reported my friends truck to the air resource board and DMV flagged it. He could NOT register it in the state and they required an inspection immediately. He had to license it to a family member in another state.
Is love to see a follow up video about how your experience has been a year later since you have done these deletes? Reliability? Codes? Power improvements? Fuel economy improvements? Your opinion on performance and drivability? Does it roll coal? Any run ins with hwy patrol or fines or anything? I'd also love to see more video of the truck running... maybe some drive by footage...
Well I have been having issues with my video software, so I can't make another video right now. But I will quote what I wrote on another similar response... My experience has been really awesome. It definitely has more power, along with better pedal response. I can't tell you much about fuel mileage because I also change tires at around the same time to 35s with a leveling kit. I get about 17.5 miles per gallon but I drive it like a truck, not a race car. I have the 5 position SOTF switch and I keep it on the lowest setting because I do some Towing. I've not had any codes thrown, except for the transmission recall which the dealership fixed with no issues whatsoever, even with the tunes. Needless to say, I'm extremely satisfied with the finished job and the tunes, but I will not go into which tunes I use because that's not the purpose of the video. I will say that I had transmission tuning, which does improve the transmission shifting. It also you're supposed to increase the reliability of the transmission, but again I have had no issues with it except for the recall.
@@saltydawgdiesel2243 do you still have the truck? What year is it? About to delete mine wondering how the reliability has been and if there has been any problems. Appreciate the video. Thanks!
I did this on my 15 3500 at 120k miles I’ve put 40k on it since then. Also straight piped the exhaust and added the EZ link 5 level tuner with the knob that mounts so u can select level 1-5 tune. Zero issues good milage improve for levels 1-2. 3-4 all about heavy tow and stupid power. Only regret was I didn’t do it the min my warranty ran out. I’ve recently had CEL which the code says no signal to turbo actuator but I’m told it’s the a actuator itself and it’s about the milage they act up. The light goes off after 1-2 key start cycles haven’t noticed any preformance or drivability issues
Same with the Powerstrokes it seems these v8 turbo diesels are harder and more complex to delete I've watched some videos and they need grille headlight removed on the Powerstrokes.
Couldn’t find my flex head combination wrench and went to every store to look for one and they had everything but a 15mm when I say the struggle is real it most definitely is lol
EGR Delete is a MUST on these. EGR is the cancer of the diesel engine. And remap/retune these have a dogshit map from the factory like I have seen a guy delete his DPF and ran it on the STOCK TUNE and the truck rolled coal! No wonder these trucks plug up the DPF all the time. All of these new Cummins need a remap right out of the factory ideal would be a full delete and then putting a really good no smoke map on it, people have done that they say you dont notice that the truck is deleted at all it doesnt roll coal but has more grunt, more hp and the turbo picks up better. Also MPG improves.
That 8mm bolt for the crossover pipe shouldn't be that hard. So many videos of guys mentioning it. The nut on the backside is welded on them all. The bolt comes out from the front like you did it. If you're doing a delete, you're dropping the coolant for sure so take the upper radiator hose and use a regular rachet/short extension.
The left side support bracket is different from mine, mine come with a round curve to fix the new connector, but cannot fix to the engine, will check later,
If//when doing the EGR and DEF Delete on 6.7 up top of motor an remove exhaust and strght pipe back. Will u Hav2 Buy anD Install a Tune? Or can u just leave As Is and drive it? Thanks in advance
Im sure i could do all the hard work myslef but thinking if the truck needs to be updated or something cause of the sensors ?? How could i cancel them ??
I have a 14 has 210k and I deleted at 95k. I just unhooked everything under the hood didn't remove anything. I bought the kit when I bought the tuner way back when. But I'm wondering if there is an advantage to removing vs just unhooking??
Oooh, I can answer this. Yes, I'm deleted with egr in place and on a 1,100 mile trip pulling a 5th wheel the egr valve somehow got stuck open. The egr cooler blew, so lost coolant the entire time, and pressurized the radiator. I had to stop every hour or two to relieve pressure and put coolant back in the radiator. I'm blocking all that stuff off with a delete kit soon to never do that again.
This is exactly what I was wondering. Where the crossover pipe goes in front of the head with the two clamps, if you could just block it off right at the clamps?
I know this is an old comment but I’m wondering, Did you ever blocked everything off? Do you tow anything like the comment mention? Any issues? I just did this and just unhooked everything
@@TomNiehoff do you tow often? And does unhooking everything is the same as blocking if the egr valve would have never gotten stuck open? Basically if your valve would have never gotten stuck open you would have never had any issues?
Hoping you see this, 3 years later.. I'm charging up the batteries in my 14 Ram right now to delete with the efilive v3 now. On the EGR, Passenger side, I see the one on "top/side" but what about the one just lower of it, to the left/right of the vehicle. It looks like it's all part of the egr circuit. Am I wrong? Does it need to go as well?
can you do a review video of the catch can you are ordered, I have done alot of research and seems like all the good catch cans are small and will have to be emptied alot or they are large and really expensive.

Could I remove all those systems and put blockoff plates inside the egr with a welder while keeping all the emissions crap so it passes inspection and achieve the same thing minus the weight reduction.
Hi Dave... I've watched many videos on the EGR delete... and I don't see why that wouldn't work. I'm planning to do this exact idea... and for the same reason you mentioned... especially because I use my truck commercially for my business. So I'm mostly concerned with reliability and longevity... with maybe a lil performance enhancement. So i dont plan to be ripping around in the highest tune and rolling coal. So I'm hoping if it looks like it's there... hopefully that would be good enough... Because ehen talking to my mechanic... he pointed out that it should work... and was a good idea if they only visually inspect your vehicle... however... if the put an OBD reader on your truck to check if it's functioning... they will still know right away.
@@DustinWoloschuk yes obviously that. The problem is if you gut your dpf scr etc. And weld plates inside you need a new ECU and whole new ever system and pipe from the turbo back. When you go in for emissions but except that that seems the best way to go for commercial. Good luck!
@@davidb1089 Thanks for replying!!! sorry... i didn't mean "weld" plates... that was auto correct. I meant to say "install" plates. And leave everything in place. Also... I'm from Ontario Canada... and luckily are new member of parliament discontinued emission testing... though it is still illegal to delete this stuff... we no longer have to emission test. Therefore I'm hoping if i just block everything off... and tune the computer to ignore everything... IF i get pulled over... they will see everything is stl there and let me go. I'm just not going to drive around in the highest tune rolling coal everywhere...no need to poke the bear and be an idiot... and hope i get away with it. Wish me luck!!! Anyway... your 2 videos are great!!! I hope you'll make some more soon!!!
I am interested in doing an EGR and DPF delete on my 2016 Dodge 6.7L Cummins. I watched your video, and I have a few questions. What year is the truck that you are working on? What delete kit did you use? Did the kit include the tuner? I'm not sure of what kit to use. The Raceme Ultra Programmer claims that you don't have to remove the EGR valve or cooler. Please get back to me.
That truck is a 2016 Laramie Longhorn (doesn't make a difference, tho.). I actually ran across the delete kit from an ad where the guy bought it for his 2013 then sold the truck before installing. Came with the EGR hardware, Flopro 4" turbo back exhaust, EZ Lynk, and tunes from a dealer that had to be switched to my truck (they had never been installed). Unfortunately, I don't have any other experience with any other tunes or hardware. I just installed everything and filmed it. I'm not a mechanic or an installer/dealer. I'm just an everyday dude.
Been wanting to delete mine but I'm hearing a lot of talks about cracking down on inspection. My buddy has a off road shop and doesn't do them any more do the shops getting hefty fines and he says there's a lot of talks about then making it to where you can't pass emissions without that junk on there. Supposably all the rolling coal and blocking Tesla charging stations has caused so much attention that they doubling down on us. What is your opinion my brother?
Well that's a slippery slope... But as far as I know, there's nothing against deleting emissions for off-road trucks. But my opinion is that it's my truck... And honestly I think that I should be able to drive my truck how I want to...I dunno... Maybe the state could offer truck owners the option to drive without emissions on roads at a *SLIGHLTY* higher cost (registration or emissions exemption), but I think their version of "slightly" is probably different than mine. Regardless, I think that truck owners who act irresponsibly (rolling coal, etc) are the ones causing so much pain for those who want to drive their trucks on the roads.
SaltyDawg Diesel nice video I have a 13 that I want to delete. You’re right the people who roll coal is making Diesel engines look bad and taking away from us who just want our trucks to last longer
Good video been debating on doing mine now too ... how do you like it so far deleted and did you do a transmission tune either way make sure you let your transmission relearn before you romp on it 😁👍🏼
At first I was skeptic because I still had quite a bit left on my warranty. However, after having it done for a month now, I won't turn back! I get much better fuel mileage, the truck has a lot more power, and the throttle response is out of this world! I went with an engine tune and a transmission tune through PPEI.
Were you about to put all 4 bolts back in the shroud that covers the cross over tube? I like the idea of putting that back on. Can you show how the coolant lines get rerouted? Thanks for your help!!
I believe the very end of the video shows a better view of the coolant reroute because I had issues with the bracket I got (it was made for a pre-2012, long story). I did put the shroud back on, but you can't use all of the bolts because during the delete, you actually remove the brackets that the bolts go into.
I actually got the delete kit and EZLynk from a guy who bought them with PPEI tunes and sold his truck before installing them. The delete kit was for a 2012 truck, but mine is a 2016, hence the issue with the bracket that I had to cut. At the time of the delete, my truck had about 68k.
I use an EZ-Lynk with PPEI engine tunes and TCM tunes. I'm really impressed with their tunes and customer service. However, that doesn't mean that other tuners are better or worse. I don't have any other tunes to compare. I think any of them are way better than stock for racing, mudding, etc.
Question from Down under. I own a 2015 Dodge Ram 2500 Big Horn Diesel Turbo. The adblue spray symbols shows on dash going into limp mode in 320 klms to 8 klms per hour. I have had the following replaced by Ram dealership Adblue injector, Feeder hose, pump/sender. Adblue has been changed numerous times. The vehicle has been to an auto electrician to run diagnostic checks and three different ram dealership later. No one can provide me with a solution to the issue with this vehicle going into Limp mode after travelling 60 klms. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, No one seems to have the technical know how in Australia.....
Disassemble the catalic and muffler and power wash with hot water. We do this to a truck every 3 o six months it gets plug with carbon most equipment with def sistem very expensive. To fix
The Bully Dog tuner will NOT work with an EGR delete. It pretends like everything is fine as you go through the install. but then will not let you start it the second time. Don't waste your time.
I don't know that I agree with that because the absence of DEF would eventually put the truck in limp mode and limit it to 5 mph (or something like that).
Well, just this portion of the delete only took about four hours, and I was videoing the process. However, it does not include removal of the DPF and reinstalling the straight pipe. That took a couple of hours as well.
Just go and Google it .reason why a lot of guys won't tell you wich company they get from is because they don't want to get the company in trouble with the EPA .thats the reason why
@@Will40th .yup ,I heard that the EPA is cracking down on shops that do delete egr systems. So no shop want to do that anymore .but this videos are very helpful
@@robertdivany1627 true , went to shop the guy didn’t want to talk about . He gave me ridiculous quote to delete it . I think was more to see what I would do plus . Cause of the epa offroad tunes are so crazy expensive now
You dont have to be a mechanic but holy fuck the 2 back bolts behind the head is insane, you can't see shit so its luck and having the right tool, there's no other options, you need the right tool. And of course edited out that part lol... I was praying that my socket would land right on the bolt and would break free. I was lying on top of the engine with a make shift ratchet extender etc.. it's doable but that can be a deal breaker if you cant get them removed. BE WARNED...
Can you give me a link to the programmer, tuner and exhaust kit you used to delete the dpf? Also, is there any reason to remove egr if your tuner just turns it off?
I used PPEI tunes at PPEI.com. They sell the EZ-Lynk programmer/monitor. I'd ask them about the EGR valve. Before I deleted, I was able to run specific tunes from them, but I had to unplug the EGR. That procedure is also discussed in the video.
The concern with leaving it on is a possible coolant leak in the future. The exhaust gases won't be flowing through the egr anymore, just hot gases sitting in the egr cooler. If it decides to leak it will cause a real headache
tomduncan1970 cant even explain how happy I am with it, best thing I’ve done for the truck by far. I used a ez lynk 2.0/ full egr delete/ stock exhaust but I threw a straight pipe in where the dpf used to be.
Ive tried finding one for my 2008 Dodge 6.7. Cant find them anymore. Apparently the feds outlawed them. You can still do it, but it's going to be more tricky to get the parts or fabricate them.
Nope. It will not pass smog. We have to reassemble everything, put on a stock tune, get tested, re-delete, and then put in the tune again and do a transmission relearn.
FYI, this is absolutely illegal in all 50 states in the US. There is also no exception for so called "off road use". This from a lawyer who represents the performance diesel industry in EPA cases.
When you purchase a $80,000 truck and EGR goes out in 6 months and dealership wants $3500 and needs truck for 4 weeks due to part shortage, got to do what you got to do...It should be a law for selling flawed products to customers.
