On the Daft Punk - Random Access Memories LP the best sounding one has "Chab" in the deadwax.

Agree on The Nightfly. I just might have to pick up CBAT and RAM. Thanks Steve

I have all those, except the last. I did just sell my Exodus as a clean out as i do have the UHQR. A couple of albums i use to show off my system are digital recorded - Nils Lofgren from AP and any of my Dire Straits from MoFi. My Chet Baker Sings is hopefully with a courier today for delivery.

Ok fine Steve, you were the final push I needed to pick up that 10th anniversary daft punk! Excellent vid...topics like these are SUPER useful to esp newer / returning members of the VC like me! ❤

Steve do you have an opinion on the Peter Gabriel 45 half speeds. I got them all when they came out a few years ago.

@@stevewestman7774 they sound fine to me but so many people complain that half speeds are the devils work.

10,000 Maniacs "In My Tribe" is a great digital mastered LP. Tracey Chapman is great too.

Great topic for a video Steve!. Regarding Bob Marley, the 2 LP version of "Legend" sounds amazing! and it's just a "regular" edition (mine was the 35th anniversary, black vinyl, but there's also a green/yellow/red version, which I haven' tested). Another "cheap" and digitally sourced, but amazing sounding records are the current "regular" versions of the Eagles "One Of These Nights" and "Hotel California", mastered by Bernie Grundman and cut either by Bernie or Chris Bellman. Also, Aretha Franklin's "Young, Gifted & Black", the recent Rhino version, mastered by Kevin Gray and the Santana "Abraxas" 50th anniversary, which is digitally sourced, cheap, and mastered by Kevin Gray and sounds great!!. On the other hand, I can say that the Mofi version of Santana III was a big disappointment, not even close in sound to the KG Abraxas, even if both albums were very well recorded and in a similar style. Finally, the recent re-release of Ray Charles "Genius Loves Company", mastered by Bernie Grundman sounds just AMAZING (it's a very very well recorded and mixed record to start with). All the best from Chile Steve!

I love Tracy Chapman first album, is a masterwork from beginning to end and the best is that sound great on digital and analogue. I have the USA pressing from 1988 and the CD and both sounds wonderful, maybe in the LP there is some of clicks during "Behind the wall" but the record have 35 years, I'm 50 and the record have been with me since those days.

I have the Abbey Road Half Speed Mastered of Bob Marley - Catch A Fire and I am really happy with it.

At the original 'store' prices, the UHQR "Exodus" ($125) versus the Abbey Road Half-Speed "Exodus" ($39) is a rounded price difference of 3x. On my system and to my ears, the sound difference has the UHQR very clearly sounding so much better, yes, way more than 3 times better - it is just that more detailed, spacious, alive, fresh and obvious. Just my two cents, jah man.

If you get a chance pick up the RSD Essentials Heart Shaped World on vinyl sounds absolutely fantastic audiophile grade for sure. It doesn’t say but I’m pretty sure it’s also a digitally sourced record.
@SafeAndSoundTXAudioExcursion
Agree on 4 of these…but, I have tried 2 copies of the Universal CBAT (bought one in US and one while in the EU) and both really don’t set well with me on my system with my ears. The UHQR sounds fine to me. I can’t explain it… It’s great if it sounds fine to most others to give them a $30 copy since previous releases used are so much.

9:25 they had the tape, why not just cut it straight off the tape? 😮 These executives are so hung up on making everything digital for some reason! I agree that digitally cut records can sound fantastic (especially hi resolution) , but the cutting straight from the source whether analogue or digital is always the best way to go!

People go nuts when they find out it is a digital mastered Lp. But...everybody says the MOFI Santana Lp is....the best! My old ears can't tell the difference(s). Enjoy your videos. Mr. Pete---------> aging hippie

Apart from Gaucho (which to me is the greatest produced album), don’t ignore Crime of the Century produced by Ken Scott.

If the album was recorded digitally to begin with, it’s gonna sound equally as good. If it’s Recorded analog, I want an analog pressing. I want my records to be true to the source when possible. Anyway, the problem is that at least 75% of digitally remastered records sound like crap to me. They almost never compare well with their OG counterparts. That being said, there Are a few digital remasters that sound pretty good. Unfortunately it’s not consistent.

I will, perhaps controversially, add the Jimmy Page/John Davis 2014 remasters of the Led Zeppelin catalogue here. The ones I have sound really good to me!
