When I was young we went to Kings Island constantly. They used to have a monorail safari ride near King Cobra. For a few years there was a Days of Thunder ride that was just a theater but all the individual seats moved to the view of the cockpit. In front of the Eiffel Tower was a large fountain display. They would let people ice skate when it froze. And the Beast? Hands down the best wooden coaster I have ever ridden in my life and I have ridden many. It's a full on experience. The American Racer was grand also, going in reverse was a blast.
@@jonathansparks882 No again but oh wow that sounds like it would be great!! I only got to do the Days of Thunder variant. Have not been back to Ohio/Kings Island since like 1993 or 1994.
The Bat history...if I remembered correctly, The Bat had many operational issues since its 1981 opening and shut down for good after the during the 1983 season, then dismantled in 1985 with the intent of building a new version. Before that happened, Paramount purchased KI and then gave the go ahead to proceed with the build (rebuild) of The Bat, but like the other rides, it would be themed after Paramount films, in this case... Top Gun. When Paramount sold KI to Cedar Fair 2006, Top Gun theme (along with the other Paramount themes) had to be removed by a certain date. Trying to keep with a jet theme, Top Gun was renamed to Flight Deck. In 2014, Flight Deck was repainted and renamed to The Bat celebrating its 30th anniversary of the original The Bat.
@@DonWilsonSr. the bat was the first one i ever rode at kings island as a kid in the 80s, lol i was so scared my father offered me $10 if i rode it, as a kid you see that candy store and brave it out
The Orion is hands down the best coaster in kings island! 1. The INSANE DROP 2. The coaster goes SO FAST that it's difficult to keep your eyes open, especially when you're in the front seat I rode this with my twin brother 3 times yesterday and it was that good. I want to go back there for that coaster.
BEAST IS BEST!!! Years of riding wooden roller coasters across the country and still The Beast is my absolute favorite. Remember riding the engineering debacle, Son of Beast, feeling like my neck had been snapped and my usually fearless sister, in tears. Shout out to The Voyage at Holiday World as #2. Thank you Theme Park Review for bringing us excitement and joy with your vids.
While I'd say the Voyage is a better overall experience, due to it being built with modern technology, there is nothing like that curve after the second lift hill on Beast. Truly a thing of art, and so amazing this thing was built designed on paper and still kicking butt and giving thrills after 45 years.
Gotta give a shout out to the BAT! As someone who loves that free-swinging action of suspended coasters (Vortex at CW is my hometown one), the Bat seems to be a fine specimen indeed, twisting and turning through the trees. Also liking the old school traveling nature of the Beast. Thanks Robb!
Tbh ninja at six flags magic mountain you swing way more than on the bat, honestly that ride is pretty crazy I think it swings wider as well, a lot of times it seems like you will flip all the way above the track
@@299436083 I can't compare Ninja to the Bat, but at least compared to Vortex I found Ninja to be very slow and tame. Maybe I was unfortunate to be there on a day where the ride was running unusually slow, but I went in ready to be excited and came out very meh.
Doing this video allows people like myself, who have physical limitations that stop us from riding, the chance to enjoy the experience! Not that I was ever a big coaster fan, I’ve ridden a few!! Also kudos to the absolute smoothness of your camera! Thanks again
The Beast.. Never been to KI and I'm from Ohio.. I'm dumb.. Would be obsessed with that coaster. Great videos!! Felt like I was riding it too.. My hearts beating fast
Orion is one of the smoothest B&Ms I have ridden, and it is easily a top 3 in the park. That makes me wonder if Cedar Point will use the name Polaris for the reimaged Top Thrill Dragster
I remember riding The Bat back in '98, except it was still called Top Gun at that time. I also remember my cousin telling my dad back then about the original coaster called "The Bat". I also remember when the original Beast was torn down and replaced with "Son of Beast". I also remember hearing on the news that several people on Son of Beast were hospitalized from injuries sustained on the ride. Eventually, the ride was closed and replaced with this version of The Beast.
The 540 degree helix at the end of The Beast is still my favorite ending to any coaster I've ever been on. That part never gets old, nor does that ride in general. Mystic Timbers is cool too, but I'll always prefer The Beast.
Orion gave me nightmares/perception overload. I went to bed that night and kept waking up to the feeling of “being pushed in a rollercoaster” out of my bed. I would relive this moment and wake up scared lol
Not gonna hate but if this is from two months ago then why might Vortex (defunct) be standing in the background (13:52). I have gone to Kings Island forever and it disappoints me the fact that you would do this because this shows that the Beast recording was over 3 years old.
Me and my friends go to Kings Island all the time, and these are some of the best rides. I’d also check out The Beast, because it have a great history and it’s also a great ride.
honestly the rides are a little scarry when climing on the first ride and then the dorp is quite scary but after that mid and the fear doesnt come back
First off, it’s not even the tallest roller coaster in the park. and also you don’t know how to pronounce stuff. which either means that your From a different country or you’re five years old
