Thanks for the tips! I was kinda surprised that you thought black kitchen faucets were on their way out. I was considering purchasing one, but in a very classic style. I think they look great up against a white quartz countertop.

After I said that, I found really good examples of black faucets! Especially, oil rubbed bronze. Replacing a faucet every few years isn’t that big of a deal, if your black faucet looks good, keep it!

I just splurged on a matte black on deck pot filler....and I love it! Our stove is an old Jenn Aire and is bottom vented ...placed in front of an exposed now white brick wall....we have quartz countertops and plan to do wood shelving with black pipe above for my beloved vintage finds! I have a reglazed very old porcelain over cast island sink in our island and I put a vintage plain chrome faucet on it....not afraid to mix metals! Truthfully I thought matte black was desirable? Idk I love it!

Nice video. I'm painting my cabinets green. Im gonna have black handles, black faucet and a gold light fixture. I say if you dont plan on selling your house within the next 5 years....have fun and do what you want

These ideas are great! I recently improved our small farmhouse kitchen, and used just about all of your tips. Anyone thinking of painting their cabinets GO FOR IT! It makes a HUGE difference, with just a little time and $. Thanks again for sharing, love your videos. 💕

In the middle of a kitchen remodel, and I was finally able to rip down the soffits. I decided to go with open shelves on one side of the kitchen, but I also decided to get rid of the over stove cabinet and microwave. I discovered that I could use my other cabinets to stack on top of each other to create ceiling to countertop height! So it ended up being a win win on the storage front.

I had thought about what to do with the cupboards above the stove bc that pipe blocks most use of it. I like your idea of just removing it! I might try incorporating the pipe into the decor, or, since our hood doesn't work anyway, I might use that for a pot rack. I hate hate HATE breakfast bars. We never use them so they are just junk collectors. The stools only work for my cat to get up on the counter or nap on. No one else uses them. I also have one of those USELESS corner cupboards that goes all the way to the wall but you can't access anything in it back there. It ends up as a great place for mice to build a home and never be bothered. When I decide to remodel, I don't know what I'll do with those areas, but they will be accessible and useful.

Great ideas! Paint and hardware for sure! Also, I think that investing in one really great vintage focal point that takes your breath away, is always something you never regret, too. A fabulous bread board or copper piece or French basket that is old and beautiful can be much more visually satisfying than a lot of little cheaper things that together, would have cost as much or more than that one statement piece that will really make a kitchen. ☺️☺️.

Great ideas! We just painted our builder grade faux oak cabinets bright white with brushed nickel hardware. Looks great! Will add under cabinet lighting and take my small appliances off the counters!

I'm moving to a new build in a 55+ community. I upgraded to nice looking white cabinets, but storage is lacking. I'm going to have Shelf Genie custom fit storage solutions in the cabinets. It will cost a few thousand, but worth it. (I had it in a larger home). Rev-a-Shelf is also a good sturdy product at a lower price point.

How about a video on vaulted ceilings in the kitchen? I’m struggling with how to do design my cabinets? I really want them to go up to the ceiling-10 foot? But will that look weird with the vaulted ceiling?

I may be able too incorporate this point in an upcoming video. But, until then, I would not take the cabinets any higher than 10 ft. They will be useless, if they are any higher. Maybe do some beamed ceiling and fantastic chandeliers to make up for it.😉

Thanks! I have a kitchen that the previous owner painted white. I have two problems with it. When I wash the paint, it gets tacky to the touch. Also, it has scratches and chips. What can I do about this? Thank you

This was very helpful, thank you. I am planning to paint my cabinets, which are already painted wood. I’ve read about cabinet enamel for this purpose. Do you have an opinion/recommendation for the type/quality of paint? They are Benj Moore White Dove, and I love the color. The paint is getting worn-looking, though and desperately needs a refresh. You have such a beautiful home and wonderful, helpful ideas. Thank you again.

How long has it been, cabinets get worked really hard, you will probably need to repaint / touch up every couple of years no matter what you use.

What kind/color of white paint do you recommend for cabinets? Will they still be easy to wipe down?

I love the Trim, Door + Cabinetry paint from Magnolia. magnolia.com/search/?term=trim+paint&types=shop&first=25&dymck=true Yes, you can wipe it down. I love a soft white, but also am drawn too the darks that are trending now. I’m about to paint my kitchen cabinets a soft sagey green.
