I worked in medical billing in the US and I'm always AMAZED how much red tape there's for everything. In Venezuela, I can just walk up to any lab and request pretty much ANY test I want (if I can afford it) no doctor's note just walk in, pay and get my stuff done.
Agreed. When I see that she is going to be on the pod, you know the content is going to be excellent. She always has some compelling ideas and insights.
Super cool to see Eden Data getting a shout-out! Stumbled upon them a few years back when they were just a tiny crew. Taylor's a rockstar, and the whole Eden Data squad is top-notch - and their support was key to helping our startup become SOC 2 compliant.
Chief Automation Officers have always been around. Since the 1970's up until the mid 2000's they have always been called "Systems Analysts". Then somehow HR people thought that Business Analysts were the same thing (close, but they aren't - Systems Analysts are highly technical whereas Business Analysts aren't but still have all of the other abilities that a "Business Analyst" would). In the industrial / mechanical age they were/are called "Industrial Engineers". Everything old is new again.
Nice to see Steph back on your podcast. Always interesting topics. The haters out there will always hate no matter the topic. Keep doing you. I am no where close to your income and financial means but I learn a lot to help me reach the next step in my journey. Sam, you need to make a T-Shirt with "No Forever"
Love all the ideas. Steph adds a great dynamic. You know how sometimes you’re just waiting for the right idea to come along? I’m waiting for one to hit me upside the head.
I run a managed service provider which does the exact thing you are talking about at 52 minutes. Remediation > Managed Cybersecurity > Managed Compliance. It's called an MSP there are quite a few of us out there. Last count was 40,000 businesses in the US that I saw.
Go Steph! Full of admiration for her insights ... also, just signed up for Hostage Tape subscription. The wide medical tape I've been using is 25% of the price but hurts to remove 🤐
You should definitely talk people away from franchises. I've done a deep dive on this and they are definitely structured for head office to extract as much value as possible from the franchisee while off-loading most of the risk.
I had the same idea...and I was told that I was crazy for thinking like this. I was told that I was thinking like a communist just for being innovative. Thank you for normalizing innovation. I think I found my tribe today!!
Listen, I like Steph too. She is a smart smart lady who brings loads of value to whatever company she works for. Now that, that's out of the way we gottttta stop with the constant praising. It's way over the top. For example, in this pod the advent calendar idea is certified small boy/girl stuff. Think about it this way, if someone DM'ed Sam or Shaan with that idea, are they going to have the same reaction?? It's a hyper seasonal product with TONs of competition. It's a little reminiscent of when parents are constantly overpraising their kids like they can do no wrong. She does have some great ideas, but she has some idea's that aren't great and that's ok.
34:35: Great hack to make yourself look smarter: Saying "There is this book which other people don't like" for a book that has 4.1 across 100k ratings on Goodreads
In some ways consultants are kind of collab experts and recommend / implement ways to make teams operate more efficiently. Automation expert sounds sexier though..
Jobs of the future: Prompt Engineering! This is the new software development. It will be bigger then software development in fact. You heard it here first
I’m like Sam write down everything and forget it lol wanna work to find myself a Steph like operations officer who can help me organise my random ideas into stuff 😅
@@mavsublover Haha glad to hear, I will do it! This was actually the first episode I heard of her but I might get hooked on the A16Z podcast now as well 😄
Thanks a lot for this. I always learn something new each time I watch your videos. I’m glad I have started making a lot of profits as well thanks to Larysa Caba. She’s been of tremendous help to me through out my journey.
I feel one Of the greatest challenges that we first timers face in the ma rket is that we end up losing all we have, making it difficult to find ourselves back to our feet. My biggest advice is to always seek the services of a professional just like I did when I ventured into it for the first time. Big thanks to Larysa Caba. I now make huge profits by weekly through her services while still learning to stand on my own.
Do you guys bother to vet any of these stories? Like even a little bit? I know the behind the scenes of one of these stories, and the claims being made could not be farther from the truth. Like...not even close.
Hostsge tape is gonna get sued for everything mark my words. If you have any kind of nasal obstruction, mouth taping can be suicidal. As a former taper i can attest to waking up with my heart thumping as i gasp for air. At least put a slit down the middle to allow air to pass through
