As soon as Ryan pointed out the gloves on Samantha’s outfit I knew he was legit. I would’ve never caught that. The fact that he got voted out immediately is such bull. They definitely voted him out cause he wasn’t dressed in cosplay.
@@haileymoehlmann9198 because it would do nothing. even if he was dressed up, it would’ve delayed his elimination by a round or so. if they start suspecting you for even the smallest things you’re out, so showing up in cosplay makes almost no difference in the grand scheme of the episode
@@Kodaiva please defer to my second comment on this. The mole also wanted to win, so yes, wearing cosplay helped them not seem suspicious at first compared to the two people who had nothing really to show for themselves.
@Nam Gge No, but they're also not always in challenges like this. Once again, if you want to win a special event like this, it's common sense to put in some effort and preparation.
Maybe for videos like these Jubilee can put like a “dress code” so that the people that aren’t wearing clothing that the majority is wearing, won’t be voted out bc of it
Honestly, this problem occurs often in Odd One Out. It takes away from the point of the series, which is to find the hidden aspects of a group of people that only insiders would know. Like yes, sometimes apearance matters for the group they are doing, like here where looking at someone's actual cosplay is relevant, but in that case just enforce that dress code to be sure everyone follows it
They should all have been told to arrive in cosplay otherwise those who are not tend to always be voted out and most cases not moles. Plus we are able to see everyone's craft equally.
The con crunch is when I knew Samantha was 100% the mole, since she basically copied exactly what AI had said, and plus her costume isn't that involved to justify a con crunch. Still 10/10 Samus cosplay!

I knew it was Samantha from the get-go. I didn’t believe someone could have Mercy as their first cosplay, it’s pretty complex! I feel like if I was a cosplayer I would have showed up in my coolest cosplay yet, and that’s what the girls did. Samus is pretty easy to pull off. I dunno I agree with the “this is what I think cosplay is” statement she probs went it. Tried covering up her inexperience by saying she’s fairly new to it! Ahhh! The Santa Clause cosplay I was like damn this one is legit tho.

@@br6735 See, I'm confused on how others are confused when he mentioned that was Halloween as a child vs his actual first cosplay. It seemed more like he was being playful but after everyone answered when they started he realized he had to give a serious answer, than him just lying and mixing things up completely.

Like… it’s never the obvious answers. If I saw someone show up NOT in cosplay my first thought is you have to be so confident not to do so. Ryan’s whole point with the gloves was so simple yet so effective, wish he had the opportunity to share.
As a cosplayer, as soon as I heard Ryan's comment, I instantly started suspecting Samantha. I hope Samantha gets into cosplay more because she portrayed (zero suit) Samus well, but most cosplayers are REALLY passionate when talking about cosplay and all of their past cosplay stories. Cosplayers (especially if they make their outfits) have a dedication and whenever Samantha spoke, we didn't hear that same level of excitement as when the others spoke. Samantha also gave shorter answers and gave off body language of dishonesty. Then again, I also have an interest in psychology and body language so I knew who was the mole shortly after Ryan's comment got me suspecting Samantha.

The gloves doesn’t really fit as there were others wearing gloves and there are a lot of cosplayers that will struggle through the gloves for the sake of accuracy
Why didn't you tell them all to come without cosplay or all in cosplay? Make the playing field even and shift the focus to finding the hidden aspects of cosplay only those that actually do it will know. Isn't that the entire point of this series???
@@peacefulcat3578 technically yes but I think the point is which people do it regularly. Like "find the photographer," even if everyone shows up with their camera, that doesn't mean everyone counts as a photographer if you know what i mean :)
They are bois and bois' cosplay tends to be mostly armour aka heavy equipment and the other guy who has the convention tags all his cosplay is covered in mold :/
If someone came not in cosplay, I would immediately think the mole IS NOT one of them, simply for the reason that the actual mole is going to try extra hard to be believable, so they would most definitely be in cosplay.. Especially when you hear their reasoning it's pretty clear neither of them is the mole.
I clocked Samantha immediately. Her outfit was giving me very “here’s what I think cosplay is” as an outsider perspective. And although the guys didn’t come in cosplay, I didn’t think it was them cause I guessed the mole would try harder to blend in.

the elf from santa movie is the BEST cosplay! ones like her are my fave! not the trendy super popular costumes but one that is instantly recognized and a staple in child hood !
Usually first thought is, whenever a girl wears a jumpsuit type of outfit with no accessories coming off of it, it mainly feels like it's a costume and not a cosplay at a convention. I can get when people buy certain parts of their outfit for convenience but it was already sus, like how Ryan said about the gloves (which comes with the jumpsuit most likely) and her shoes being heels which would be the only thing handmade but not practical
I honestly didn't get the gloves and heels comments. Cosplay doesn't always mean you'll wear it to cons. I defo have cosplays that I only use for pictures, not for cons. There's just different types of cosplayers
@@edwardkonrad4353 - if you're just doing it for pictures, then you're a model and not a cosplayer. For example, I can dress up in steampunk because that's what my model agency asks me to wear - that doesn't mean I'm a real Steampunker. To be a cosplayer, it's practically a way of life.

Well, one of the others had gloves too? Many characters (like Sailor Moon) wear gloves and there's still plenty of people cosplaying these characters. I myself have a cosplay of my OC Sailor Cat, which I wear to cons, and it has gloves. Yeah, it sucks to use your phone with them, but it can't be helped. I also see many cosplayers with high heels.
the mole was so obvious when she said “does it even matter?” after people asked her “do you even know that character?” every cosplayer knows cosplay doesn’t end with just wearing the costume
I KNEW THIS!! Her wig wasn't really styled, she told them that her first cosplay was mercy (it is very expensive and hard to make costume, so it is hard to belive that it was her FIRST ever cosplay), she made this shoes for cosplay but they didn't rly match the costume.
but youd be surprised. there are so many cosplayers who start off with big cosplays. and sometimes cosplayers are bad at wig styling. i know some who dont know how to style wigs and have been cosplaying for years
I felt Amber when she talked about being ridiculed for her skin tone. As a dark skin woman I’ve had certain comments like “that’s character isn’t even black what are u doing” thrown at me. I just stopped doing it all together.
Im not into cosplay but am into alternative clothing / underground scenes and as a black woman this saddens me. Because i always hoped that every “minority” subgroup finds support in each other since we all already are seen as “other”. But i realized thats not the case unfortunately

Samantha was my immediate guess for who the mole was because she basically just wore a skinsuit, which is kind of a quick and lazy costume purchase, even if she did wear it REALLY well.. Most cosplayers put a lot of time and effort into detailing/accessorizing their looks and those heels (which also looked great!) were just not enough. To be fair, though, I probably would have voted out the two guys as well.. LOL
@@vakuArt True, true.. I just think she could have picked an outfit that was a little bit more elaborate to fool everyone. She was a great mole, but I'm convinced that her simple skinsuit was what ultimately gave her away. Then again, like the other contestant said, we don't want to gatekeep anyone, so it's hard to make that call. Skinsuit or not, she looked totally awesome.

I was surprised it wasn't Nathen! I was like, "He's definitely the mole!" when he messed up the conventions! But not completely surprised it was Samantha because the things Ryan had said did make lots of sense!
Yeah, I thought it was meant as a lighthearted "haha I've been cosplaying my whole life" kind of joke but everyone took it completely seriously because he didn't have time to explain. I think maybe his communication style is a little bit different than everyone else's. Seemingly not knowing Anime Expo hadn't happened yet was my kneejerk "okay no it has to be him" moment, which unfortunately ended at the exact wrong time so he again couldn't explain. If he's in the military, though, I feel maybe he's moving around enough that he could legitimately be confused, since there is a Fan Expo somewhere in the western hemisphere that I think happens in May, and if he's not primarily an anime cosplayer, maybe he is not as up on anime cons. Also all these cons are named such similar things, I don't blame him, honestly.

Nathen dressed up as a Ninja Turtle for Halloween as a child. He called it his first cosplay, but it was still when he was a child. The other contestant got caught up in that which led to Nathen being voted out.
*I do feel Nathan!* it’s actually so annoying that they always put you on the spot and then poke into every single detail in your story. Also, he clearly said that he only does it once a year, so why did they expect him to be so deep into the every aspect as they did. Being part of a community shouldn’t depend on how active you are in it, simply the enjoyment you get from taking part…

Probably also nervousness from being on camera, the lights and the fact that others are trying to suspect you of being "the mole" which is essentially attacking your identity by guessing you aren't something which has a role in your identity. Obviously, this is just a game and I don't think anyone will take it too personal...but I feel like there would be plenty of reasons someone might be nervous and forget simple things in the moment.
I can't believe that you're into cosplay, have this amazing opportunity to show your costume but choose not to come in one...I'm glad they voted them out!
I belived Samantha because she said she was new to Cosplay, with only a few years under her belt. After she was outed, it made sense when it was explained how the gloves and shoes make the who look, but add discomfort over a long day at a convention.
it's true that they've already done it, but it would be nice if they did one where WE don't know they're all moles. In a normal episode we don't know who is the mole, we guess along with them, so it'd be a nice twist if at the end everyone reveals themselves and we didn't know.
Amber looks *INCREDIBLE* okay I needed to get that out of the way first Ryan! People wear gloves all the time when cosplaying. They usually make it easy to take on and off so that they can interact with things. Maybe people at the larger events don't like to wear gloves, but I table in the Midwest at various cons and usually cosplayers just slip the gloves off or they'll ask me to flip through items or they have a friend who helps out.

The guys could’ve easily turned it on them and asked “Couldn’t have someone else who cosplays dressed you up?”. So annoying that they got voted out solely on not having their cosplay on when they just wanted to be comfortable.
I had a feeling that it was Samantha bc she said her first cosplay was someone with armor and no beginner cosplayer can do complicated armor like that (at least in my experience)
I mean you can still buy low quality graphic bodysuits with built in wings for Mercy like the one she's wearing But yeah 3 years into it and still wearing halloween bodysuits is a giveaway haha
