Got a Durand recently for my dad…been a lifesaver for his older Aussie stuff under cork. They are expensive but definitely worth it as accessories especially with Australian cork

The Durand is hardcore! But total lifesaver!

I think the biggest glaring omission here is the VacuuVin or similar vacuum valve system. They genuinely work wonders for keeping a bottle of wine alive for a couple of days. If you’re starting to get into wine that’s £10-20 or $20-40, which is a very convenient conversion, I think I’d say they are even more essential than a decanter. I had some neighbours round on Friday and we smashed a few G&Ts and then I opened a really nice bottle of $40 Pouilly Fume that I’d been saving for a few years. It was 2018 and showing really well. Lots of fruit, slightly honeyed - very interesting wine. I forgot to vacuum it because I was drunk, and when I came back to it the next night the last glass in the fridge was dead. I am positive that despite the bottle ageing, that wine would have at least been good the next day had I vacuumed it. I also have vacuum valves on my vermouths, sherry, port, fortifieds, and cocktail syrups, just to try and prevent spoilage. Anyway, that aside, I’m pretty sure that wine card is a gag gift for the irritable wanker that you know, that complains in restaurants when his red wine is too cool.

@@wineforthepeople In NYC they used to sell an obscene looking contraption where you inflate a balloon that looks like a giant pink condom into the top of the bottle. It worked really well, once or twice, then exploded dramatically.

Decanters; my fav are just your 1L water jugs. Easy to clean and dry. Cheap to replace if you manage to break them. One of those things you can use to reseal sparkling wines would be in my top six instead of the Venturi

Oh great suggestion! We actually love laboratory conical flasks! Tough as nails, brilliant to swirl the wine in!

I remember my dad using to 2 prong cork remover in the 1970's and 80's. Worked a treat. I remember him pushing it straight in as far as it would go (must go past end of cork) and pulling it straight out (no twisting) Keep up the great work guys

My old man once said: Son, by the time you realise I'm right, you'll have kids of your own that think your wrong - he was right. Those openers are brilliant!

So I had a bunch of Zaaltos, Reidel, Gabriel etc. Then I go to visit family in Australia, and friends in Russia, and my 18 to 22 yo kids look after my apt. By the time that I get back about half my fancy glasses were left. Now I have plastic wine glasses...

OH NO!!!!! Although - plastic wine glasses have come a LONG way - have you seen some of the new ones companies are coming out with?

Love your work fellas. Would love to see a blind taste series of Australian wine regions. Like every wine comes from the Canberra District or the hunter Valley. Keep up the good work. ❤
@wineforthepeople
@wineforthepeople 2 месяца назад
That'd be super fun to do - but how would we decide what wines to include?!
@Rpsb2
@Rpsb2 2 месяца назад
@@wineforthepeople I guess in a six wine tasting, you could go 2 wines from a “top” producer. 2 wines from a high quality small producer and 2 from an up and comer. I’m just an ideas guy 🫣

@@Rpsb2 Killer idea! Although we'd need it to be a total blind tasting - so we can't do the choosing!
