Hi,Jennifer. I am planning to learn grammar from "Wren and Martin high school grammar book".This book is very famous in India. 1)What's your opinion on this book? 2)Also,please let me know the best way to learn grammar from any grammar book.
Grammar books help us understand acceptable patterns. Look at the examples and also try to understand what context is appropriate for a certain grammar structure. You can then look for similar examples in real-world situations. In my recent livestreams, I've recommended different resources. Lingopie is one for listening. Also, I offer my free Movie Power Pack, which includes movie reviews for listening and reading practice.
Hello. Please turn on the captions. You can also open the transcript. This is a more advanced explanation, so I speak rather fast. You can choose to slow down the playback speed.
Really? That's interesting (and useful) to know. What about a light jog? A person who's jogging is obviously not too concerned about speed. Also, if someone is dressed in athletic clothes and listening to music, I'd be more likely to assume they're our exercising.
@Englishwithjennifer A Light jogging is allowed here , and another culture here is ( only girls talk to girls only boys talk to boys ) yeah here it's hard for me to talk to other genders ( I NEVER TOUCH A GIRL ) 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Thanks for sharing that. Truthfully, I like the idea of tipping based on what we really feel and value. If more flexible tipping meant higher wages, I'd likely agree to it. These days 10% isn't even an option on the electronic payment screens. You can sometimes select "custom," but then I'd feel bad giving only 10%. Some workers depend heavily on tips.
@@Englishwithjennifer thanks for sharing this expanded explanation, I really appreciate it (with no sarcasm). But sometimes it seems to me, that "tipping culture" is closer to hurtful social programming rather than pure logical evaluation. And it's consequences, at the end, more affects the employee's profit, who expected to get "false" income and got false social/professional self-estimate, after all. Of course, It's so disputable topic, that even South Park creators left their mark on it. Thanks for reading this message and I'll be glad to have reasonable dialog if somebody has anything to say.
The tipping culture certainly reflects cultural views and trends. Americans can let things get out of hand before we realize we've gone too far. Arguments over tipping tie into our sense of fairness, our fear of being cheated or taken advantage of, concern over financial security, a desire to be appreciative and grateful, our views on service jobs, among other things. It's not a simple matter. Sometimes we need to make jokes about it because humor alleviates stress! You're right to invite dialogue. If we can't talk openly about it and listen to each other, then we can't find a reasonable path forward.
Sorry maam.. I new one here, can u put your subtitles black colour, cause i will read.. If you put white colour and your shirt also white.. I didnt see that word. Thanks and sorry
Hello. I checked on my end. The captions are in white letters on a black background. Remember that you can also open the transcript. This is a more advanced explanation, so I speak rather fast. You can choose to slow down the playback speed.
Adverbs have some flexibility in their position. Sometimes the word order is more rigid, as with adverbs of frequency. But with adverbs of manner, they might be in different positions without much difference in meaning: Slowly he went up the stairs. He went slowly up the stairs. He went up the stairs slowly. You could possibly say: He slowly went up the stairs. Maybe it's more emphatic that way.
Maam if I tell him one thing then it is difficult for me to understand what he will say next, I am not able to understand then how will I be able to say it, I have only one way then I should go to America, then I should take an American to my home, nothing more can be done than this, there is no other solution
Use resources for listening and reading practice. I like Lingopie and BeeLingua. These are just two resources that can help build comprehension. You don't need to be in the USA or any other English-speaking country to increase your exposure to the language.
Hi,Jennifer. Please try to switch on the comments section in your older videos... A small question related to embeded questions:- *Where is the world's tallest building? ==>Do you know where the world's tallest building is?This sentence looks perfect and natural. *Which is the world's tallest building? ==>Do you know which the world's tallest building is?This sentence looks weird .. *Do we normally ask questions in this way using "which" though they sound weird?
Yes, the first one is correct: Do you know where the world's tallest building is? (where + subject + verb "is") The second question could be written two ways. The way you have it, "building" is omitted but understood. a) Which is the world's tallest building? (Which building is the tallest building?) b) Which building is the tallest in the world? Do you know which is the world's tallest building? Do you know which building is the tallest in the world? To be honest, most would find it more natural to ask: c) What's the tallest building in the world? >> Do you know what the tallest building in the world is?
@@Englishwithjennifer ...I casually asked ChatGpt which sentence is correct out of 1)Do you know which the tallest building in the world is? and 2)Do you know which is the tallest building in the world? Surprisingly,it said "Do you know which the tallest building in the world is?" is correct...I think chat Gpt is wrong this time..
In my country,India, tipping is not compulsory....If people like the services, they give some tip...Mostly it's very less compared to what people give in the developed countries like the USA or the UK...People mostly give tips at hotels and restaurants...In star hotels, people give more tips...
I wish it were a choice. This would mean that restaurants would have to raise wages, though. If wages were automatically higher, prices would be too. But I like the idea of tipping based on the quality of service, not out of requirement.
@@Englishwithjennifer ... Wages are low even in India...Even at this minimal salary, many people especially uneducated or poor show interest to work because there is a lot of competition for every job in India due to over population...
@@Englishwithjennifer ...Hi,Jennifer.. "With all the smart people we have in the world, you would think we would have figured out global economics better by now"... This sentence looks so beautiful but i am confused about the sentence structure you used here...I think this is not a mixed conditional sentence as subordinate clause is missing... Could you please let me know what sentence structure you have used here?
With all the smart people in the world = Given that we have so many smart people in the world Considering that we have many smart people in the world you would think (that) = it would be logical to conclude/it would be reasonable to assume that we would have figured out global economics better by now = We haven't done this, but we should have by now. [perfect modal = something that has not been done; a regret] Does that help?
