T - Train. Lift weights. H - Hone. 1 hour of deep work a day. U - Unwind. Read 10 pages a day. M - Move. Walk in nature. O - Order. Tidy for 5 minutes a day. S - Social. Connect with others.
@p I'm assuming it's honing a skill outside of your main activity. Ain't no way you're are gonna do 5 hours of deep work in addition to an 8-12h workday, workout, 10 page reading etc
THUMOS: Training your body Honing on skills. Unwind. Begin reading books. Move. Take walks in nature. We're made for movement. 30mins to 60mins. Order. Tidy/clean everyday. Social. Practice basic skills. Im gonna implement this.
I definitely have been working on my social skills for me the biggest prob is if the person I'm talking to isn't into lifting, nutrition, cooking, real life probs like the crazy bs going on rn, fashion and general health I have almost no interest talking to that person
@@wordbrah628 I am also dealing with the same problem. Everyone in my workplace things I am arrogant, I dont talk much but the fact is I have different interests then them.
You’re spot on about weightlifting I can’t tell you how many men I work with that are 30+ and they keep telling me I’m gonna be hurting when I’m older and how they had to give it up or how they are too old to get started. My mindset is to find some kind of workout that gets you in the gym everyday.
Kinda related, I just turned 30. Still a superb athlete. I can dunk a basketball, I’m quicker than almost everyone I play against. My college friends are overweight and a shell of themselves. Hit me with the same excuses: “your body won’t forgive,” bruh your body is in revolt of you RIGHT NOW, I feel great
"Employ your time in improving yourself by other men's writings, so that you shall gain easily what others have labored hard for." - Based Socrates “No man has the right to be an amateur in the matter of physical training. It is a shame for a man to grow old without seeing the beauty and strength of which his body is capable.” ― Based Socrates High Thumos Stay Based
Some quotes are good, but what wisdom Socrates possessed was purely a consequence of the time he lived in. He was generally a fool and a consequence of the degenerate state Athens and Greece was devolving into. Men like Socrates were a symptom of the illness that lead to the fall of Athens and Greece in general, and later Rome. When in the Republic, another claimed "justice" was "the will of the stronger", Socrates rejected that and claimed that justice was rather people minding their own business essentially. He was wrong. Justice is always the will of the stronger. That's not a "should be". I neither approve nor reject the fact. That's just a practical evaluation of the reality of the world. It's a fact.
Train - I am old and I lift, not everyday but a lifetime lifter. Will get back on it Hone - I will work again on learning the piano Unwind - Reading nightly before sleep. Currently the Bible. Continue, and add in the morning Walk - Every morning. Need to get in more - at least 30 minutes a day Order - 5 minutes a day of cleaning - I get this, but this is a WEAK point. Need to SCHEDULE this Social - Hmmmm, Trying to focus on self now, but need to keep in practice on this. With purpose, start conversationS daily. Thank you for the reminder Elisha. Bless you all in this community
Lifting been doing for years and it's honestly the last thing I ever thought I'd get into 11 years ago have never looked back. Martial arts is some thing I want to add in.
Yes, boxing is a good one or jujitsu, the thing with boxing is it’s when you progress and the other people in the class don’t it makes it shit for you because they can’t hold pads and it wastes your time. The amount of times I have stopped boxing and Thai boxing because of getting shit partners is a joke lol I get it takes time but being around a lot of gyms over the years you will see that 90% of the people who have trained there for years still don’t get Better and it confuses me how they still can’t hold pads after 5 years of training lol BJJ is good because it’s a lot more simple. Yes its heavily partner oriented but the people you train with don’t need to learn how to hold pads and give you good combos etc. Plus you can sparr 100% in BJJ and you don’t really get hurt unlike boxing
Reading books for your interests is so important for exactly those reasons, cos it gives you ideas that you wouldn't have come up with in your own - that's the reason Einstein credited for the fact that he was able to contribute to all areas of physics from the start of his career, because he kept reading physics stuff from all over the place when other physicists would stick to their niche only
2023 is nearly over and I still use those habits to benchmark my month basically. Been a lazy guy last month? Clean up more often. Read a lot? Keep it going etc.
Thanks Elisha, you are always on point! I was off the headphones for over a week and then went back to them. Mainly for audiobooks at work but then I go back to the tube and adhd kicks in. I’m going to cut my usage. Like u said it’s a tool and should be used sparingly. I’m going to focus on valuing my time and how I use it. I’ve been mainly doing pushups and free weights at home and I have a bench n back machine. It’s good for now, but I think goin back to gym will help me push myself. I appreciate you and your high thumos brotha ✌️
I just wanted to say thanks for all the great information you’ve been sharing, Elisha. I’m 16 and I am really glad that I have found out this side of RU-vid and have woken up on how to be a real man at quite an early age and that is all because of you. Thank You once again man!
Didn’t find him until I was about 22. I’m 25 now and have made so much progress but could be much further along if I had started this shit at 16. Take what he says to heart and best of luck to you
Time track your day. I started doing this and it blew me how much time I was actually wasting and pivot that focus towards my micro goals. Accountability hack for sure.
'Most problems are solved by walking' Can confirm. I love walking and take at least one per day. Been doing that for many years. There’s something very healing about just walking and visiting interesting places in nature.
Incredible video. I wish more people would see this. One thing I find helps is to make a simple to do list. People get scared over thinking there are too many things to get done so then they get nothing done. Writing it down or typing it out on the notes app of your phone helps (though writing is better, you can cross out things you achieve). Get a couple done per day.
Been using a medical condition as an excuse to avoid lifting but recently been saying fuck it and lifting through the discomfort. It's a challenge and I feel like shit during my workouts but I feel so much better overall
Start studying a subject you're interested in and it'll snowball like mad; cognition stretches, reading gets faster, ideas stick better, and soon you'll be reading books in parallel from a shelf spilling over. Working out the MIND livens the world up!
Ive been following your vids man. Wanted to join to discord so bad but its approx 300 liras in my Country which is ridiculous in this economy.. Tryna be on comments and re-watching the vids. Thank you for putting out these information. peace
very crazy to me how many people don’t read. someone basically asked me how they could improve their attention span and I told them to read. They responded by saying they don’t like to read. smh. that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t do it.
I've been training (including lifting weights) consistently since September and I'll be honest, it was a hard thing to make a habit but I am so glad I did that. I have to work on the unwinding, I don't give myself time for that properly.
I habitually work out atleast twice a week. I personally struggle with fatigue from training but i don't use it as an excuse. These 6 habits are a good start if you arent doing any of these yet, i do most of these daily.
i agree with every point but when he downgraded calisthenics i was like na fam. calisthenics was a game changer for me, built a better body then hitting the gym tbh cuz i can train more frequently almost every day. i still add some weight excercises in but push ups and pull ups are my best friends i can say.
Is it just me who practices those habits and still experience that void inside ? The void that never goes away no matter what the habits are..... In fact, lifting ,self-dev videos and compulsive chess are my (time) fillers not to face the void on a regular Wednesday afternoon:))
To recognize the void and being consistent with the selfimprovment stuff is definitely a big plus brotha.. I think every man has a void in them these days and the ones who don’t recognize are often to distracted by constantly running away from in with fast dopamine, tiktok, blasting music etc. But you probably have the answers if you dig deep enough, you clearly listen to a lot of self improvement books & podcasts, there is no answer, just try to have fun on the journey and find stuff you like by trying different things Idk man but talking about that void of yours is something you need to talk about with yourself, meditation, destiny, purpose & will
I read Millionaire Fastlane by MJ Demarco a few years ago... PROFOUND mind shift from reading it.. It ain't ur mommas finance self help book.. Its probably the only truly based book about making cash ive ever read.. TLDR: don't SAVE money, thats for losers.....PRODUCE things in exchange for money.
Agreed with everything BUT that ADHD is due to your lifestyle. ADHD is much more complex than that bro, please look into it . I do however agree that some people’s lifestyles are too distracting and makes them lose focus
I'm sorry, but I'm angry. You're saying that everything is just an excuse, yea? Oh well... I have a medical condition (problems with spine) that disallows me to lift any weight more than 4 kg. Before that, last time I went to the gym (I was going every day) i lifted 10 kg dumbbells (for each hand). Am I not a man anymore, according to these statements??? I exercise now with my own weight only. Calisthenics.
Follow Bruce Lee's advice. Take what is useful to you in the moment and discard the rest. You can live your life to a set of guidelines, but ultimately, make do with what you have. I'm sure a person born without legs or living in a wheelchair isn't going to be doing much "movement" as we would picture it. You're making do with what you have in order to strive to become something greater and that's all that matters.
@@liyon316 Yeah, thanks mate. I had a rough day when I wrote initial comment. Of course you're right. I'm just slightly annoyed with Elisha's linear wording of a rule
