Hello, thank you so much for your warm and welcoming videos. I have a question for you in this particular one how about if you are an older woman and you no longer have your period and haven’t had it for years. How do we know which cycle we are in can you answer this? Thank you for any help you can give me in the situation.

This was a great video! I loved learning about the sleep needs of women vs men. I've felt frustrated for years because I need 9 hours or so to feel functional, while my boyfriend needs 7 and he's fine. It's such a relief to learn that there's a good reason for this, and that it isn't that I'm lazy or something. Our bodies are working hard and they have a lot going on!

This video was like a warm hug that made me consider over a decade of unhealthy habits that our current generation are conditioned to have. The 1200 calories and MyFitnessPal, coming home after a work day and looking after my kids and then forcing myself to work out even though I just want to go to bed. This whole thing of waking up at 5am to be productive. Best video you have done ❤️

WOW. I’ve never heard that women actually need more sleep! I’ve always felt that I’m at my best when I’ve had 9 hrs, but thought that was excessive and weird… since everyone always says adults (regardless of gender) need 7-8 hrs. I feel a lot better about it now, haha! 😂😅
@JillzGuerin

So there’s a proportion of people who genetically need less sleep than average (4-6 hrs), and a proportion who need more (9+). Nothing to judge yourself for, just something to track for yourself and build into your routine. I’m naturally long cycle, went travelling with a short cycle friend - caused some issues initially but as we began understanding that we had this difference, we were able to work around it 😊

This video came at a great time. I love lifting and I’ve been consistently doing heavy lifting 4x a week for quite some time now. Last night I slept less than 5 hours, this morning I traveled back home before sunrise, after spending the weekend at my boyfriend’s. I got my period two days ago and all of that made me very tired. I was just now getting ready to hit the gym but decided to watch this video beforehand, and realized how completely tired I am, and that my body needs a break. I wouldn’t have been able to really apply myself at the gym today, and going to work later in the afternoon would’ve been miserable. So I’m taking a nap instead and going for a walk afterwards.

Finally a RU-vid talking about women’s needs and working less! I’m 35 and have worked very hard most of my life. Until by chance I was having long periods of rest, and guess what? I noticed that when I work too hard I get depleted and life just doesn’t flow. When I get plenty of rest, I feel happy and joyful, and somehow a lot of things fall into place easily, no effort. The military-like discipline is a habit and reinforced by todays hustle and grind culture, wake up early, blah blah- it can be hard to let all of that go and trust the flow of life but I’ve had a lot of evidence to show that works better for us 🌷

This is so random, but you reminded me when you said we aren't meant to eat like little birds. That was a thing adults used to say to me (though my issue wasn't necessarily that I didn't eat enough but that I was a picky eater). So one day I decided to do some research, and I found out that birds eat several times their body weight every day. 🤣 So it's not even accurate!

Based on all of this.. what are the jobs or careers best for women so we could be and live in harmony and synch with our natural self? Career woman here asking. Have a successful career but at the sacrifice of my health, disconnect from myself.. suppressing my sensitive side and when you described "forcing oneself to go to bootcamps".. it resonated with me in the sense of the things that i have to do for my career / job / within my industry

I really needed this. I'm usually really tough on myself when I'm hungrier or when I'm not willing to exercise. I always think there's something wrong with me when I have less energy and just wanting to relax in bed, because on social media we're so used to see this perfect influencers who wake up early everyday, eat super clean and exercise.

Great advice !!! I love the- “men are like the sun and women are like the moon.” That explains sooooo much!!!! It’s unfortunate that both men and women don’t always understand this and men expect women to be emotionally like them and often gaslight us when we are emotional and sensitive. 🤦🏽‍♀️
@hannahstampy
@hannahstampy 4 месяца назад
In what world does a bizarre simile that suggests women have no light of their own and can only reflect men's light "make so much sense" 🙄 Men are also JUST as emotional and sensitive as women, they've just been socialised into feeling ashamed of expressing this. Women also might have more trauma due to gender inequality, which can make it appear that we are more naturally emotional when the fact is we have actually just been on the receiving end of more crap that men aren't, so don't consider.

Love in the flo 😊 Cycle syncing changed my life! It has truly allowed me to connect deeper in my body and spirit, and I agree. It’s crazy young girls aren’t taught this at all, and left to rely on birth control and meds and told it’s all “normal”. I really believe the medical system has failed women especially. It’s def inspired me to help educate other women about it. Thank you for creating this video!

Hey @JillzGuerin I know this is an older video but, I've only discovered your channel this afternoon and I'm now eating into my sleep time cause I can't stop watching/listening to your videos😅 I have two daughters they're 8 and 9. Im so glad ive come across this video feel like i have much more direction and what must be included in the becoming a women talk when the time comes. Can't thank you enough for that; really wish we'd have had this insight when we were going through the motions. You will be a fabulous mother when the time comes, anyone could see that miles away ❤ I was in an abusive relationship with the girls father for 8 years, finally left for the last time 5 years ago now bald because, through the stress/trauma alopecia areola had set in a couple years before. I had to build myself back up, I'm still working on a lot however I have a full head of hair and started coming back just months after leaving! I've found some amazing people and their channels that have helped guide me through my journey and I have got there I'm functioning again, not scared of my own shadow or running on my nerves the same. So in the grand scheme of things my life has improved tenfold but there's still been something missing or off, keeping my mind positive and on track to remember all the things i was putting in place then forgetting by the next morning when ive woken up an then start again 2 days later and remember all the things I said I were going to start😅 ive defiantly got there in many aspects and I am proud of that. I don't really know how to explain it really but I feel like I worry so much about my daughters when they come to date when they're older. I thought I had my life mapped out and there were gonna be no stopping me I wanted to go pro in Show jumping and had the ability to aswell but I met him and within months it was all gone my hopes and dreams were shattered and that was it then my living nightmare for so long. Some women never manage leave or stay longer but i cant help but go back and wonder at what point did he have me and my mind so i had no other choice but to stay and believe thats what love was. I know we shouldnt dwell and re live the past too much, focus on the future and try not to be brought down but i think if it happened to me, who i thought i were so strong and like i said everything mapped out and yet it went so drastically wrong and I wasn't able to make the right choices...which finally brings me to my worry of how do I make sure/prevent my girls falling victim to the same situation. I'd like to think I'll have given them the right tools/guidance, enough to ensure theyre well set in thier minds to never allow that sort of behaviour but what if I dont and it happens to them. I want them to remain the super sassy strong girls they are and never ever lose that. Sorry I'm really really rambling on here but yeah Jillz I have literally hung off your every word today and feel like between what I pass on and your videos I might just stand a chance at keeping them safe and guiding them not only with boundaries and keeping strong where men are concerned but so so many other tips on topics that aren't talked about unless you know that it's a thing and then go find info yourself. I never knew about affirmations or manifesting until I'd left but I had to get online and find the solution myself because I didn't want to take tablets to make me better I wanted myself to be back whole and be able to cope with anxiety etc without a pill. Obviously I had done but I didn't want that to be something I had to rely on forever. I do still question myself a lot like should I say this to the girls or not in case I'm setting them up to fail if I'm wrong cause I got it so wrong. Most of the women in my family, who I always thought they were right about everything were in similar situations and it was a cycle that was normalised so I just thought it was stand by your man throughout it all. Which is absolutely not acceptable and it took so long to break that cycle and keep it broken, totally re train my mind that we women don't just have to cater to a mans every need and have no voice like were living decades before. I've literally gone on for so long now, but I feel like I've come across a channel today so valuable to me and the life I want to create for my girls that I couldn't help but comment granted far too long of a comment 😂(I've never commented before on anyones channel) I know that the same small things that affect me daily because I'm not all that organised or know the right way of doing things; are going to improve. The way you break things down and talk about masculine energy, I've really been able to understand it a lot more. Maybe that's how I'm stuck in this worrying about things happening in the girls future and potentially spoiling things before they've even started because of my worries I don't want to put downers in place for them unnecessary. I feel like I'm gonna be manifesting bad things to happen to them if I keep thinking these things so yeah I think just press play on your channel and they can't go far wrong! 😂😂 I definitely won't be offended or surprised if I dont get a reply or you even read it at all lol I haven't commented for a reply, purely to say how grateful I am and I will now follow you for as long as your here. Thank you ❤❤❤❤❤

I've been watching you for a while now and I really have to admit that you came into my life at the right time. I struggled with the same issues like you from having an autoimmune disease, taking the birth control pills for a long time and the hormonal consequences after I stopped taking it, didn't listen to what my body needs until I felt totally burned out. I already changed my habits to a very conscious level.. and you and your videos became such a highlight in my life. The part about exercise is SO accurate. I went through a phase a couple years ago where I became obsessed with being in the gym and working out "like a man", heavy lifting, pushing myself to extremes. And sure enough, 2 years into that, my mind and body both completely shut down from stress. Now, I hit the gym twice a week taking group classes, and then my exercises include walking my dog, rollerskating, bike riding, mat pilates, and yoga. This changed EVERYTHING! I feel so much healthier while feeling so much more feminine. If anyone is looking for tricks regarding "diet", a couple of things that changed the game for me included staying hydrated, and eating 2 servings (half a dinner plate) of veggies with my meal. And don't forget, if you are what you eat, then dessert makes you sweet 😉🥰

Turning 30 this year and realized just how much I can’t continue to treat my body the way I have been. - Im a runner but kept getting sick because I would run even when I felt terrible and it broke my body down - full body weight training 3-4x a week - eating whatever I wanted. Constant coffee, minimal to no water daily - sleep whenever , usually less than 8 hrs BUT I’ve started prioritizing test and part of being healthy and listening to my body over the past few months and I’m shocked at the changes already! - I still run but I listen to my body each day to decide if it’s a good day to run or not, and there’s no judgement - traded in most of my weight lifting for yoga - continue to each intuitively while prioritizing protein and nutrient dense salads (I never thought I’d say that lol) - 2+ glasses of water a day - prioritize bedtime for 9hrs most nights I feel and look soooo much better! And it happened SO fast! It feels good and feels sustainable ❤️❤️❤️

I started scheduling 8 hrs of sleep every night and for weeks it made me feel so much better. After that first few weeks my body just naturally wakes up after like 5 hrs or so. I of course tried going back to bed, all the other things, but it kept happening and I couldn't sleep more. My physical trainer advised me that not everyone is the same and often times if you are active and well fed/hydrated you may not need the "standard" 8 hrs that people recommend. He said to listen to YOUR body and get enough sleep but not to worry if that's less then what is advised.

Thank you Jillz, this is a message that needs to spread. On all topics I'm following you. The intensity of workouts, the amount of food, the cycle syncing, the sleep and the crazy trend indeed of the 5 AM'ers club, etc. On all these domains the world literally gotton into a kind of masculine-male-biohacking obsession that is really detrimental for women. I mean, I have been into all of that crazy stuff some years ago: - I used to workout like crazy. Only afterwards, after landing in a long period of totally collapsing into a wreck, I realised what I did to my body: burning on average 1000 calories extra from working out (HIIT, biking everywhere to work, 10K steps, powertraining, power yoga, ... i was a steaming train!). Yet - shock - only 'drinking' 600 calories in green juice, because I read that green juice fasting was the way to lose weight healthy 😀Which is asolutely mindblowing torture to our bodies. Not if this happens by accident 1 day due to a a busy day. But I did it it for a year. Interchanging that routine with overeating episodes because the body ofcourse will scream for food. And then ending up in a surreal, unnoticeable cycle of anorexia-bulimia. I say unnoticeable because I did not look like the cliche anorexic person, though I was doing the typical attitude of the pathology, being at the start of that negative spiral, leading nowhere. Read that good: such days were at least minus 100 calories at the end of the day. It brings tears to my eyes I did that to my body. Shocking. I am not saying to count calories. I do say for all people in these kinds of patterns: do read your calories to realise what the hell you are doing to your body. - Constantly cold showers no matter what phase, mood, feeling, sleep amount. - Waking up earlier the better - because that is 'success'. All others are 'suckers' was the societal conclusion. I felt so guilty my whole life for needing more sleep than average. I 'interviewed' so many people on their sleep habits. Always left feeling like crazy that I neede 9 hours sleep. Then, I beated myself up, slept only 6 or 7 hours, because people said you get used to it. I tried that for years, yet I never gotten used to it. Only exhausted. Now I give myself: sleep. Simple. I must say that the hectic rat race world doesn't make it easy to do, but people like you help awaken everyone. Together we can decide to do differently. Doing the right thing instead of the circus act. - Working out no matter how I felt, sick, tired, on period, whatever I even worked out harder, 'because you cannot be a cry baby'. Then: kaboom: burnout, a severe one and a second one. Slowly slowly slowly I woke up. I learned that this is not normal. That the world of health & wellbeing is very masculine oriented. This is however not a problem. Men are not the problem. The issue is that some women took over the best thing for men and professed it as the way to go for everyone, including women. Instead of: listening to our own female bodies. I learned it the hard way. By experiencing it myself. These days I am happy that more & more people like you are spreading this message. To listen to our bodies. We don't have to do what men do (that's what they need to do), what the trends say, or what even other women proclaim as the truth. We just need to listen to our own intuitive soft female self, who knows the way. Thank you 🙏

Thank you for such an educational video, Jillz! The more aware I am about women's cycles, the more I feel how I ebb and flow with it all. And a lot of frustration and disappointment dissolve with the understanding that men and women are created differently. One habit I recommend is opening your windows every single day for at least 15min. I get up in the morning, open my window and get on with my morning routines (in my case it's breakfast and getting children ready for school) after they are gone, I make the bed that's had time to air out and close the windows. I air out also before bed in the evenings.

I really appreciated your comments on the super-low calorie diet thing. I've struggled with my weight my whole life, and the whole diet mentality, which began very young, like five or even younger. I went on my first starvation diet at 8 or 9 years old (800 calories a day or less, mostly lettuce.) And introducing... a lifetime of eating disorders, yo-yo dieting, and more. Now I'm 56 and just feel I have finally gotten a handle on things over the last year. My wish for every other girl and woman on earth is to not have that journey, to focus on health and physical support, genuine self care, common sense, not extreme calorie deprivation, extreme exercise, diet mentality, etc. The billion-dollar diet industry is not actually interested in us getting healthy or maintaining a healthy body composition. If they were, they'd end up putting themselves out of business. No, they are interested in making their billions, which should tell us everything we need to know about DIETS.

I love tihs video, it makes so much sense all that you are saying... thanks Jillz!! 🥰 I was someone who was very discipline and work hard with no excuses, and I end it up feeling so stress, anxious and depressed for a few years, I did not know what was wrong with me... until I went to theraphy and put in order some of my core values and way of thinking and doing things, much more focus on a femenine way of living, rather than being on my masculine energy all the time. I am still learning a lot and adjunting my rutines to this new way of living, today I definetely take some insigns with me that I am definetly going to apply!! sending you lots of love from Barcelona THANK YOUUU ❤

Great video! I was thinking how much I wish I knew this when I was younger. I will definitely teach my teen daughter about cycle syncing. Do you have any recommendations on habits for older women going through perimenopause and cycles are becoming irregular?
@JillzGuerin
@JillzGuerin Год назад
Definitely a good idea to track your cycles so you know what phase you're in if it's more irregular! You can do this with a basal body thermometer and taking your temp first thing every morning. There's a lot of info about it online! That way you can tell when/if you're ovulating and that will help a ton!

Hi Jillz. Great video. Remember to include the dosha body type some one is. This includes vata, pitta, kapha ( most will be a blend of the two) as that all contributes to amount of sleep someone needs, natural metabolic rate, even eating habits and preferences as well as innate temperament. Since you know about moon cycles you should also look into astrology ( the vedic, sidereal system) to find about your moon sign and many other important placements that affect someone's energy. 😀

Where were you 10 years ago?! I wrecked my hormones and completely burned myself out trying to do intense workouts 6+ days a week. I was eating pretty healthy, but I wasn't getting enough sleep, and I was under a lot of stress. I was a personal trainer then, and the other trainers were constantly telling me I wasn't doing enough (even though many of them knew I have PCOS and was struggling with infertility). It wasn't until I left there that I found out I also have an autoimmune disease. Always, always, ALWAYS listen to your BODY! If others don't get it, that's fine. They're just not your people. Now, I listen to my body with food, sleep, and movement, and I get outside as much as I can. I've been able to maintain a healthy weight for years (I actually love my body more than back then), and I feel good physically and mentally. Good luck to you all! Thanks again for the truly healthy and supportive content, Jillz! ✌🏻💛

This video was not what I expected, and I like that. I recently had a Hystrectomy because my estrogen hormones decided to try to off me lol. So I no longer have a "cycle" but I am willing to bet there is still whispers of a cycle left behind. Was also interested in the sleep thing because currently my sleep schedulle has been the suck. I normally get outside every day because I have a horse, and he makes me move and be present and outside, Before I had surgery I went out in the mornings more often, I need to start doing that again.

I will say that 1200 calories is not for everyone, but it IS for some people. If you're a short woman and you're not super super active, 1200-1300 calories might be the only way to create a deficit. People always bring up the "toddler" thing but women are adults, who are not constantly growing the way a toddler does. If you ate calories proportional to what a toddler eats for their size and weight, you would end up overweight fairly quickly.

I am a female surgeon and work night shifts, which brings an extra disturbing dimension to your cycle. Before, I pushed myself into exercising etc. and was disappointed when I was tired, it took me a while to be able to let go of it but it is much better to do so

As 5’1 women, 1200 is absolutely too much food for me. I track my heath with myfitnesspal, scale that tracks muscles and fat composition (along with other stats, and Apple Watch. My base level calorie burning is 1200, I hate this lie that it’s SO dangerous and “tHaTS ThE CaLoRiC NeEdS oF a ToddLer”😵‍💫. If I followed that advise I wouldn’t have lost 20+ pounds and gained muscle and felt the best I’ve felt in such a long time.

But i also have high cholesterol so i do need to do workouts to keep my health optimal at the same time avoid stressing from the workout itself .like what the hell 😳 😢
