Just discovered your channel, Steve. Looking forward to exploring it. You wondered why anyone would want to listen at 2X speed. We language students want to listen at SLOW speeds. So far I’ve only been offered X0.75 onscreen - not slow enough for my Chinese level! But I think you said Siri can slow it to whatever you want. I’ll give it a try. May be the answer to my prayers!
The Stations feature solved an old demand of mine: Daily News. I made a Station named Daily Digest with a few of those 5 minutes long news podcasts - like Apple Insider Daily - , not grouped, showing each one's latest episode, and organized by most recent. It's excellent to listen to in the morning, commuting or walking the dog.
Amazing tips. I love the stations idea. Late to the game here but already using it. Found out you can also select the order that the shows are listed too. Didn't know this channel existed until I was searching something else but knew when I saw Steven from HI it would be good. Even exceeded my expectations.
I still use my iPhone 5c purely for podcasts, as it's still on version 2.6 which still has playlists. I've got a playlist in iTunes on my PC that I sort my latest podcasts (and older ones I want to get to) and then sync it to my 5c so I know exactly what is going to be playing. If a Podcast app can't sync with my iTunes and doesn't have playlist functionality it's not going to work for me. lol
Wow this is AMAZING-I didn’t know about ANY of these…I’ve been using the app like a kindergartener hahaha and it takes up SO MUCH STORAGE!! If I’m gonna be spending my precious storage on it, I’m thrilled that I can now take full advantage :) THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!1!
Hey Stephen, there's this podcast that I love and want to share with my dad but it's in english and he only speaks/understands Spanish. Any 3rd party apps that could solve this?
Ok sooo… I’ve been listening to podcast daily for many months as well as using the skip forward and back buttons which have always been set at the default settings. Then all of a sudden when I hit the skip forward 30 seconds, it skips to the next podcast. I never changed anything in settings.. it did it on its own. How do I get the skip feature back to skipping within the current playing podcast ? I checked the phone settings but not sure what I’m looking at and like I said, I never changed anything. Thanks in advance.
You sometimes mention chapter art for your Apple Insider Podcast, but I can't seem to get it to work. I only see one image for each episode. Is there a setting somewhere that I've missed? Thanks for some great videos and a great AI-podcast 👍
Thanks for listening! What app do you use to listen. Spotify doesn’t support chapter art, unfortunately. And if you pay for the ad-free version, Apple Podcasts actually strips out chapters. If you are a paid supporter, contact me via the email in show notes and I’ll help you out!
Wow, quick reply! I'm using Apple Podcasts, and I subscribe via the app, so I'll be in touch. Thanks for the reply. I really like the effort you put into editing, and I like the SoMe updates where you give a glimpse behind the editing on the iPad.@@beardfm
Hey, Friend... I just discovered you today. You're awesome, Man! You got any bio info on yourself? I noticed the chart on your wall in the background which made me really curious. Blessings, my Friend! Keep up the good work! I'm now a subscriber and rang the bell for notifications. THANK YOU!
Great info! Is there a way to “shuffle” episodes from different shows? On a long drive I get tired of listening to the same shows and want to shuffle or have a quick way to change without picking up my phone while driving. Siri?
Useful tips even though IOS 17 have changed some UI elements... i was wondering btw if am i the only one who cannot found the video for some podcast like Lex fridman , Joe Rogan ( and it's weird cos other video podcasts play directly the video on apple podcasts ) ... is this just me ? or is it only audio now for these 2 on Apple podcast App ?
Creators would have to manage a separate rss feed for the video versions of their shows (like MacBreak does), so I assume those two shows have chosen not to do that.
I just stumbled on you and this was a great video. I am now just experiencing the podcast on this app. I use Amazon but that has not even close the versitilty that this podcast app has. Thank you no I'm going over to you next video Best(and Worst) Podcast apps for iPhone lol Thanks. Hope its as insightful as this one lol
Glad you found the channel! And I've used Pocket Casts as my default podcast app for a long time, although many prefer Overcast too. Let me know what you decide to use!
I completely forgot about Channels! But here’s what I want. In older versions I could display Newest to Oldest, BUT I could listen to Oldest to Newest. I liked that because sometimes I only wanted to go back a few months to start listening, and I didn’t want to have to start at the very beginning of the podcast, which might be several years. I see that there’s now something called “Play Next,” and I’m guessing that’s supposed to allow me to set the order my podcasts play. I’ve used it, but it seems awkward.
That’s still awkward. When a show has seasons and lists there episodes as such Apple Podcasts let’s you play oldest to newest. But if there are no seasons it’s awkward to try. You can try creating a channel with that one show and set oldest to newest.
@@beardfm I watched your other recommendations, and I’ll try those. I’m mostly okay with Apple because it’s what I’m familiar with. Meanwhile, I’ve downloaded Pocket Casts and Overcast. I listen to podcasts all the time. During the day I use my iPhone, but at night I use the most recent (and last) iPod! I like it because it’s small and uses the earpods that are attached with a cord so I don’t have to worry about losing them in the covers! It’s still getting the latest ios updates, but I’m sure that won’t be for much longer. AND, I have an older model with the older version of Apple Podcasts that still allows me to filter the way I like. Thanks for getting back to me so quickly, and great show!
Some how my wife and our phones our connected. We don’t like listening to the same stuff. But whatever I add shows up on her phone as well I don’t really care but she hates it. Is there a setting where I can fix this. We have separate apple ids obviously. 🤷🏽♂️
@@beardfm Thanks. I did the iCould shuffle (deactivate/ reactivate) and they’re in synch now. Trying to move off of Pocketcast. Long time user but the cost has gone up 300%.
Just came across this video. Very helpful about the “stations.” Quick question…is there a way to “lock in” the shows to play in a certain order? I’ve tried the “manual” setting for organizing them and then when I go back the following day all the shows in the stations are in a different order. Just trying to replicate what Stitcher does (now that Stitcher is ending.)
Unfortunately not at the moment. iOS 17 will improve the up next queue, but it’s not very granular. Try Pocket Casts for that kind of control. I show it here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zWUpu9SV8o4.html
It's not as solid as Pocket Casts or Overcast for sure. Found out it does not automatically place your currently playing podcast in the Now Playing status across devices. But if you manually tap an episode to play that you were already listening to, it will jump to that timestamp.
This was iOS 16 I believe, but iOS 17 is getting even bigger updates, especially search. You can get a look here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-gTIxxVDIanQ.html
Notifications: Have several programed yet only 1 podcast comes to the phone. How can this be corrected where I receive notifications for both podcasts.
Apple Podcasts doesn’t really support transcripts (except for linking to a website). But podcasts hosts like transistor and Buzzsprout have great integration for transcript files!
I don't know. I don't see a search bar to look for a podcast channel on this ipad thing. I guess trying to be comfortably low tech is over for this old bear.
@@Flakitonica your videos are actually very informative and I love watching your content sir you changed my perspective my obsession with Spotify started when I was a Lil kid ❤️
