I tossed my Rock Shox Reverb 175 dropper post in the warranty dept recycling bin at SRAM and bought myself a Oneup V3 dropper post. Loving life more now…my gooch too! 🤣👍👍
If I was on a limited budget I'd probably avoid full suspension bikes because to be frank they are mostly junk under 2k, hardtails are not at this price 😅
You forgot to mention the most important thing. First thing you need to do is to disassemble the bike, re-grease it and torque to the spec. Otherwise, there is high chance that it will start creaking. QC is rubbish these days.
@@DavidParathyras I have ordered this very bike for my first full suspension. Although I was aware as there is a thread devoted to resolving the creak. Seems Cane Creek is the answer but not one you should expect to have to do on a new bike considering my hard tail was 25% of the price and doesn't have a plastic headset.
Agreed with all of you. I bought a spectral 29 cfr 2023. After 3 months of usage, the plastic filler between the headset top bearing and the steering tube broke. I had to send the bike for a service and the only thing they did is they replaced the plastic part with a plastic part.
It's not exactly a mistake but a component choice, every time I buy the new bike the dropper is always too short in travel. It's weird because me, barely fitting a medium sized frame, can definitely handle more. Imagine those taller than me
Biggest regret everytime, not buying a frameset to build thinking I'd do a great deal with manufacturers economies of scale on parts buying a complete bike... Which is always false or at least you end up with junk components you don't like 😂
Unfortunately I bought the wrong frame size on a custom built 2017 Santa Cruz Chameleon. It was too big. Cost me £3,000 loss when I eventually sold it.🥵🥵🥵 I now bought a 2024 Orbea (E-Bike)Wild M-Team beginning of this year, I did a test ride at my LBS before I decided what I wanted, to make sure it was the correct size. Best thing I even did. 👍👍
I'm waiting for my new Cube Two15 Race to be delivered 😇 It's the first time I buy a new bike for myself, always had second hand ones with 26" wheels. Recently I broke a collarbone when my old Blindside OTBed me in a rocky berm, so I decided to treat myself with a modern new bike with proper frame size. Hopefully riding a bike with the right reach will prevent me from flamboyantly crossing the hadlebar threshold again 🤞🏻
Second biggest mistake, financing a leisure toy. If it's your only way of moving around, meh maybe. But that 10k eeeb? Hmmm how you like 12% interests rates? Or 15, or even 20?! 😅😂
Bike size for me, 5' 6", 30" legs and every bike is too large 😀I'm riding a Small Intense MTB and I have barely an inch clearance between the top tube and my delicate bits. 🙂
i am same size, 66" tall, 30" inseam. i ride a SMALL propain hugene, banshee enigma, propain spindrift - but a Medium Spot Mayhem; Guerrilla Gravity MegaTrail. REACH and RAD are 110% more important than "recommended size" by some bike company. seat tube angle plays a big part too.. hence the reason i can fit well on the spot/GG bikes.
I bought a new bike in October last year I knew it was too big for me but I have changed my riding style to accommodate the tube touching my crotch when breaking or slipping off
Price always drops right after I hit purchase lol 🤦♂️. Recently got the Occam SL and regretting not getting the LT. Apparently I'm not ready to be an old man yet. I always have to remind myself to "size up" too
My latest regret: buying and trusting the Orbea dealer I would not need to register the frame directly just to be told by Orbea that now my lifetime guarantee is gone. Super shitty restrictions from Oebea (what does it matter when I register ?) and strange local bike dealers. Hopefully my Rallon won’t break before the next new bike day ;)
Not getting one with a motor when you get to the first big climb 😅 But seriously, getting the wrong size just because it was a good deal would be the worst regret. An average spec bike with the right fit will be more enjoyable and capable than a badly fitting top spec.
Second biggest regret: giving Fox Performance a chance as bike came stock with it, although I knew I would somewhen dislike it as always. Next time direct sell it as new and get something I like as used part (dvo Coil and z1 coil for example)
#1. your bike is too big. take your height in CM, multiply by 2.5-2.55 and that number is your "reach". shop accordingly. mfg sizing means NOTHING. #2 get shorter cranks, #3 get shorter bars. the end.
Buying a bike with waaaaay too much travel. Only bike park riders really need anything 160mm or above. Most riders only need 140mm or below. To much travel, even with modern geometry, just makes riding more difficult.
I used to think like that then I demoed one and was like wtf was I thinking? Bought my emtb shortly after and haven’t looked back, I have no regrets and almost never ride my regular Mtb anymore but to each his own.
