Hello Lovelies,
Welcome to or welcome back to my RU-vid Channel, MeInternally. My name is Naomi and on this channel, we learn about natural hair, the natural way. In this video, I share with you all the results of my 6th month protective style challenge. As I discussed in the video, it appears that I have received more thickness than length (but a win is a win)! Check ou this video to hear more about my experience and what's to come.
Check out my length check before the 6th month challenge:

As always, thank you so much for watching and I look forward to seeing you all in my next video.

Thank you for watching and for telling me. Sometimes I wonder if I'm not doing something right when it appears that I reach a plateau, but I have to be patient

6 month sew in will be suitable because it'll stay nice and grow. Your method is growing a lot.... You can save a lot of money.... How is it at Howard? That is the school I wanted to go too.

Your hair is beautiful 🥺 Health✅,length ✅and thickness ✅😩🤌🏾 Love it❤️ Were you consistently using the olive oil on your hair? Like how many times a week? And I heard olive oil makes scalp dandruff worse🙄😒 don't know bout that buh I'm in for it😌 moderation of oils on my scalp is key for me.

Hello, Thank you so much. I used the oil in the beginning 3 months I would everyday and then towards the end of the challenge it would be every other day or as I saw fit. If you want, you can check out my hair growth oil in the description box (that is what I used during this challenge and daily)

I've never heard that about oil oil but that is very interesting!

@@meinternally There are alot of videos now saying how olive oil is bad for the scalp. Olive oil feeds a scalp fungus....this and that. Literally every oil is now bad for some reason.. idk what exactly they are trying to achieve. But thanks anyways☺️loved the outcome of the challenge and already began mine🤗

@Oghenewoma wow, I have not heard of that! Oh no, I love oil oil! But that is true, I guess even natural products or ingredients have to be used in moderation. Thanks for sharing! And thank you for your comment. Please let me know how your challenge goes and I wish you healthy results 🌻

I did mini twists and I wore wigs. I might have done cornrows at some point😊 and I think I finished it off with butterfly locs. But predominantly I had my hair in mini twists (cornrow at the roots, but twisted the rest down) and wore a wig over it. Once in a while, I'd wear my hair out in the twists 😊

I am impressed why the American Black culture use wigs. 😢

Hello, Some people choose to wear wigs for various reasons. Some might feel more comfortable as they undergo treatment from chemotherapy, experience hair loss from alopecia, versatility in hairstyle options, protective styles, and many more. I hope this helps and thank you for your comment😊

But what styles did you do along the way?
@meinternally
@meinternally 10 месяцев назад
Hi, During my 6 month challenge, I kept my hair in this style (mini braids and I believe at some point, I started off with mini braiding the roots and then mini twisted the duration of my hair because I find my ends retain more length when it's mini twisted as opposed to minibraided). I sometimes wore my hair out in this style or I'd put it in a bun for work (I did this for two months to give my hair a break from wigs so that I can embrace my natural hair). In the beginning, I'd say the first 2-3 months, I wore wigs with my hair braided/twisted underneath. I then ended off the last month with butterfly locs (such a great style for length retention because your hair is receiving maximum protection by being wrapped in a cocoon). I hope this helps 🌻

@meinternally this is really helpfull thanks. How did you wash your hair?
@meinternally
@meinternally 10 месяцев назад
@natasharules6737 this might sounds gross, but because my hair tends to mat up quickly, I washed it for the first time during the 3 month mark, then rebraided, then washed it again during month 3. However, in between, I'll do light cleansing (once a month) with an apple cinder vinegar rinse (water, acv, and tea tree oil to lightly cleanse my hair). Lightly cleansing my hair helped because I only used natural ingredients on my hair so I wasn't accumulating buildup that would require me to get a deep cleanse). However, I plan to start this challenge again in December or January and I want to wash my hair every two weeks to see if that makes a difference

@meinternally its okay lol, I'm planning on braiding down my hair and installing a faux afro, so that will definitely come in handy. I've been doing 2-3 months braids at a time and I'm currently where you were when you started, i really want more thickness so hopefully this does that for me. I'll start around the 5th of Nov until April
@meinternally
@meinternally 10 месяцев назад
@natasharules6737 omg you're onto something with those faux afros! I think I want to invest in those. I like human hair wigs, but I would love to embrace natural looking wigs beyond the wavy and cury looks. But that's awesome!! Please keep me posted and I wish you a healthy journey 😊 have you heard of ayurveda? Maybe incorporating some herbs and oils into your haircare routine can also help with thickness
