I've used this toaster oven daily for the last six months, and I have some thoughts. I've compiled all of the pros and cons of this toaster oven into one video to hopefully help you in your research for a countertop toaster oven and air fryer!
My husband and I purchased the Breville Smart Oven Air Fryer Pro (BOV900BSS) while it was on sale for $320 (MSRP $400) in November 2022.

Thank you for producing a wonderfully detailed and informative review of this oven 👏🏻 . I especially enjoyed how it is a ‘long term’ review, with legitimate pros and cons 🙏🏻 . I was on the fence before about buying it, but now I’m essentially sold 😂 (three cakes in one bake session? Goodness. That alone makes it worth it). I also very much appreciate the cleaning steps at the end, something I wish more RU-vidrs would include.

I was an electrician for many years and 1800 watts is pushing it for anyone with 15amp circuits in older homes. I think pre-1960 home kitchens are 15amp. Newer homes have 20amp circuits which is plenty as long as other things aren’t running at the same time. Even 20amp could trip if your microwave or mixer was used while this oven is in full use. These days they have much more sensitive gfci breakers required on everything, and they can trip just by turning things on. I enjoyed your video and I just ordered my new power hungry everything oven today!
@FloralApronBlog

Thank you! At this point, I think it must have been a sensitive GFCI breaker. It still hasn't happened since, and that oven is the only thing that gets to stay plugged in on the counter out of sheer convenience. Hope you enjoy your power-hungry oven! That made me laugh lol

@cjsoutherland1 I have a friend who uses this in her RV with no issues. Depends on the RV!

Do you think using this power hungry oven could benefit from plugging into a larger residential UPS for people that may be in a situation where this could be an issue? Would it help in a case with RV applications? I have a power hungry brother printer (DCP-7065N) that I have plugged into a Cyberpower 1500 VA AVR and it makes the UPS beep and lights flicker every time the printer prints. I am not sure how many amp service is in the room where this is located but I am running other devices (computer with 850W power supply) on the same circuit along with other devices as well. Not sure if the UPS helps with the printer issue, but it never has tripped the breaker and the printer functions fine.

Looks like a good one. I owned a Breville 800XL for 8 years and loved it. I would probably still be using to this day if it wasn't for an ice storm that caused power brown outs that ended up frying the unit. They are well worth the money. Just be sure to unplug them along with all other appliances when storms are moving through.

Wow, what a glowing review! Thank you so much for your kind words; they mean a lot to me! Just in case I don't make a video on my stove and fridge soon enough before you need to upgrade, here's a quick rundown of what I have just to give you some ideas: My gas stove is from GE (model number JGB735SPSS), and I have no complaints with it! Really convenient having the center griddle and convection bake setting. We went through a few GE fridges trying to get a good one. We started with GNE27JYMFS, but the internal water dispenser was not great (hard to press, slow to dispense, and required the fridge door open the whole time) and the ice tray took up a quarter of the usable freezer space (which we probably should have realized in advance, but Costco has a GREAT return policy for appliances that it didn't matter. I felt kinda bad returning such a large/expensive item, but they were happy to take it when they learned it just wasn't for us). Then we upgraded to the GFE28GYNFS, which had a better water dispenser and ice location but was SO loud that there must have been a faulty motor somewhere. Returned that one and upgraded once more to the GE Profile (PVD28BYNFS) and LOVED that one, but the delivery guys dented it in multiple places during install 😅 Costco replaced it in about a month, and I still really love it about 18 months later-after GE sent out a repairman to diagnose why it wasn't making ice, of course lol. Super bright and roomy (enough to fit 200 cupcakes at a time!), and the autofill feature is great for filling up large drinking glasses :)

One work around for the condensation dripping on the counter top is to slide a thin cutting sheet under the front feet of the oven. The condensation will drip onto the sheet, which can be easily removed by lifting the front feet of the oven and sliding the sheet out.
@FloralApronBlog
@FloralApronBlog 11 месяцев назад
Thanks for sharing! That sounds like a workable solution for smaller amounts of condensation during normal use if people don't want to keep wiping down their counters :) For use during the dehydration function, I'd recommend something in a similar vein but with a lip or rim, like a large baking sheet. In my experience, the water will slosh around and spill off a flat surface, like a cutting sheet, when pulling it out (especially if you're going at it one-handed while trying to lift up the oven!).

I have the same oven, and it's never tripped the breaker. I agree about the toast function, and I have a toaster next to the oven, but the oven is good for toasting garlic bread. I use the air fry function for grilled cheese sandwiches and turn the sandwiches over after 3 minutes. I've never noticed any drips on the counter so had to go look. Nope, not there,, but I already had a dedicated dehydrator I use, so I've never tried it as a dehydrator. I've baked cakes that turned out fine, but the last time I baked a sheet cake, it started getting too brown, and I had to turn the heat down. I suspect it was on "Super Convection," and I should have turned that off. I still love the oven and use it daily. I rarely use my large oven.

I think you're onto something there!! I saw your comment right before I started reheating pizza last night, so I pulled the crumb tray out a bit and saw steam escaping from underneath rather than collecting on the glass! That was a great fix! I am also curious about the smell haha 😅 I will say, I've baked fish in there and left the door closed overnight. When I open the door to toast my bagel the next morning, it still smells like fish, but it doesn't transfer to the bagel (thank goodness haha). Maybe your brisket will be similar :)

Thank you for your thorough video! I had this oven in my previous place and I used it daily for almost all meals. I liked it a lot so I am considering getting it again. I have experienced some of the drawbacks you mentioned. The steam problem was worse for me. I not only got the little drips, but also the LCD display would fog up making it harder to read most of the time. Cleaning the interior was a nightmare but that was probably mostly my fault for not attacking things immediately. But there are some parts on the interior that are not non-stick and very hard to clean. Overall though, it did everything I asked. I wonder though if there are maybe better ones out there now.
@FloralApronBlog
@FloralApronBlog Месяц назад
Oh, interesting about the display fogging up for you! I wonder if the humidity where you live plays a role in that-some commenters have said they haven't noticed any condensation at all, and that's the only thing I can think of. Perhaps your new place would make a difference in that. The Breville ovens are all very highly ranked on Consumer Reports-of the top 10 spots in the category, Breville fills 7 of them. I'm sure there are some other good brands out there, though, if you want to keep looking :)
@richard1113
@richard1113 Месяц назад
@@FloralApronBlog Oh wow, I didn't expect a reply, let alone so fast! That's an interesting idea you have about the fogging... I bet humidity had something to do with it. I did have a dehumidifier at the time though. I even replaced the original Breville unit because I thought it was defective. But the 2nd one did it too. It's great to know that this didn't happen to you!

Wow! A wonderful review. What about lining the crumb tray with foil for faster clean up? Also, there is residue on what I'm guessing are the heating elements on the bottom. Can those be cleaned? Thank you.
@FloralApronBlog
@FloralApronBlog 8 месяцев назад
Thanks so much! The manual specifically says not to line the crumb tray with metal foil, as it will cause overheating. I've heard of some people lining the crumb tray with a silicone mat for easier cleanup, though I haven't tried it myself. The metal guards protecting the heating elements can be cleaned somewhat, but it takes a lot of scrubbing if there's a lot of residue. Any residue on the actual heating elements burns off with the next bake, but residue tends to stay on the metal protectors for quite a few cycles. The manual says to "use extreme caution" when cleaning the quartz heating elements, so I haven't tried to clean those quite as thoroughly as the rest of the oven ;)

The caveats are things I can live with. After considering the Cosori, and the Ninja 10 in 1 XL, this is the one I want. The Ninja doesn't have the proof option, the Cosori might be a nice unit but since the Breville has the 3 year warranty, it seems to be worth it. Thanks for the great info.

The manual states that when the oven beeps to notify you that it's preheated, it's only at 75% of the temperature listed on the screen! That makes a bit of a difference with finicky recipes like macarons but not with much else. If I know I'm going to be baking something sensitive, I let it continue heating up 5-10 minutes longer before adding my trays, and that seems to work well for me. I know people who have older ovens that compensate for their oven manually by raising the temp 25°F if they know it regularly runs 25°F cold, but there should be some sort of calibration you (or Breville, if you sent in the unit) could do if it came to that!

Their smallest oven for under $200 does everything well. It's when companies start making them larger and adding all the other things like frying that they just don't work as an all in one. But if you want toast, reheat, oven, bagel, pizza, then the small one you can't go wrong.
@FloralApronBlog
@FloralApronBlog 3 месяца назад
If the smaller one fits your needs, that's great! I was debating between the two but ended up going with the larger one because 1) I wanted to be able to use my current pans, and most of them wouldn't fit in the BOV800XL, and 2) I wanted the dehydrator and proofing functions so I didn't have to buy a dehydrator or proofing box. But yes, if you have smaller pans or don't have a use for those extra functions, the smaller one will certainly work!

Hi, thank you! I address that directly at 7:30 in this video and more thoroughly at 1:01 in my unboxing video (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-acWDhcGg21U.html) if you haven't seen that yet! :) To add to both of those statements, I test dozens of baked recipes every month as a recipe developer. A lot of times, I'm baking small test batches to reduce food waste/costs, and it feels pretty silly to preheat my full-size oven and heat up my kitchen to bake all of six muffins, especially in the summer 😅 I really love my gas oven for larger bakes, but if I don't need the extra space for a recipe, I'd much rather pay a few cents to cover the electricity use of the Breville in the corner over the cost of natural gas to run my full-size oven in the middle of the kitchen *and* the electricity needed for my AC to cool the entire kitchen back down in the summer. Annnd, as an added bonus, this toaster oven just happens to also have dehydrate and air fry settings, so I don't have to worry about buying those appliances in the future!

There's sometimes dud in large scale manufacturing. I test initially and semi regularly with the toast test, mine thankfully is still spot on. So the unit is capable, if you're buying new don't hesitate to exchange if the initial toast test results aren't to your liking.

3 questions: 1. at the end of the video during cleaning, are you putting the racks in upside down or is that how they go? 2. When airfrying steaks or drippy food, is there a pan at the bottom to collect all the drips? (you had mentioned in another video it didn't have a drip pan. 3. We have the Insta-Pot original oven and when you slide out a cooked item, the drips still drip on to the glass of the open door. Over time, these drips have actually seeped into where the glass meets the frame of the door and we cannot get it out. Does this oven have better sealed glass on the door so that doesn't happen?
@FloralApronBlog
@FloralApronBlog 10 месяцев назад
Hi! Three answers :) 1. The racks intentionally fit both ways for more precise baking depending on the mode you're using. In my unboxing video (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-acWDhcGg21U.html) at 12:50, I talk about the racks and the clever way Breville designed the slots in the oven to accommodate eight rack positions. I like putting them "upside down" because there is zero chance of my pans getting pushed into the back of the oven with that metal lip (mentioned in this video at 13:08). 2. There's not an included accessory *specifically* labeled as a drip pan. The included roasting pan would work exactly like a drip tray on a lower rack; that's even what the manual recommends when dehydrating foods to catch excess moisture (see the on-screen note at 5:46). However, the air fry baskets have a warning engraved on them to not use them with foods that will drip. My guess is that it's solely to protect the heating elements from getting drenched with oil (which is likely a fire/overheating hazard). For drippy foods like chicken wings, the manual recommends using the included roasting pan instead of the basket to prevent the oil from dripping, then to discard the excess liquid between batches. 3. The seam where the glass meets the frame is at the very bottom of the oven door, and that seam is not visible from the outside. It's also really small, so I don't think there's room for any residue to stay there. I haven't had much drip onto the glass to begin with (I rarely use this as an air fryer), but I imagine that even if some did drip into that space, you wouldn't be able to see the residue left on the inside. You can see the seam in this video at 15:40 and in the unboxing video around 13 minutes. To totally prevent residue from getting into that seam, it's possible to leave the door open and parallel to the counter once you're done baking, then clean off any pooled liquid on the door once it has cooled off. Hope that helps!

How do u clean the heating elements? Mine have some areas that need cleaning but the manual really doesn’t address this. Any ideas would be appreciated . I have had my Breville for 3 years & other than cleaning the elements, I love it.
@FloralApronBlog
@FloralApronBlog 6 месяцев назад
I have found that the quartz heating elements themselves burn off any residue after a few bakes, so I don't bother cleaning those. I've wiped down the metal pieces protecting the quartz elements with a damp sponge in the past, but it's hard to scrub with the quartz in the way. And the only way to really get the residue off those is by scrubbing (of course lol), so I just leave it now. They also tend to burn off, but it takes longer than the quartz heating elements themselves. The metal pieces only get dirty if oil drips down onto them (in my experience, at least), so I try to keep the roasting pan in between them and the air fry basket when I use it, and that has helped somewhat. My manual says not to use soap on the elements but does not specify if that also applies to the metal protectors. I don't use soap just to be safe, but it definitely makes cleaning it more difficult!

Thank you! I am a recipe developer that focuses largely on desserts (if you couldn't already tell haha). That's what I focused on for this video, as I'd be able to give the most honest feedback there. I've found that if an oven can bake cakes and macarons well, it will absolutely bake less fussy foods like chicken and starches with no issues, though I probably could have detailed that a little more in the video :) That said, I've used this to bake my Cajun tortilla chip-crusted tilapia recipe countless times, and it works really well for that! Unfortunately, outside of crispy chicken parmesan once in a blue moon, I don't do much baking of my chicken or beef. (Though judging by a few comments on this video, a lot of people use it for air frying chicken wings, so perhaps you'll be able to find another video showing that lol!) Thanks again for watching!

Overall this is a great product. I'm trying to get familiar with this device, but found a few cons. What do you think about having to plug/unplug to turn the device on/off? No option to disable the preheat option? Having to open the door to pause cooking instead of having a dedicated button?
@FloralApronBlog
@FloralApronBlog 6 месяцев назад
None of those things bother me personally, but we all have different preferences :) I don't mind having to unplug it to turn it completely off; as long as the heating element and fan aren't on, I consider that "off" in my book. I unplug it if we are going to be away from the house for more than a few days, but I use it so frequently during the day that the minor power draw (to keep the display on) is worth it for me. Could you explain why you'd want to disable the preheat option? Someone else mentioned that in another comment, so maybe I'm not understanding what it would mean to disable the preheat option. If I don't want to wait the 5-10 minutes for the oven to preheat, I just add my frozen meat/veggies/sides in as soon as I turn the oven on and remove 1-2 minutes from the timer. That has worked well for us so far. If you mean something different, let me know! I like that the timer automatically pauses when I open the door, since I think that makes for a more accurate bake time and accounts for a bit of the temperature difference from opening the door (especially if you're taking the time to switch trays). I can't think of a time where I've needed to pause baking but left the tray inside the oven, so a button wouldn't be helpful for me. Usually, I remove the tray from the oven to check on it, and keep it out if it's done or pop it back in if it's not. I'd love to know what you're baking that makes those last two options cons-sounds like I need to expand my horizons and see what I'm missing out on! :)

@@FloralApronBlog I think I’ve been conditioned to have an on/off button lol. I did notice the screen goes dim after non usage for a few minutes. Like you mentioned it’s a matter of preference for each person, but I’d prefer the display turned off. I personally don’t enjoy the dangling wire loose especially with kiddos around. Also, my wire doesn’t have the finger assist to easily unplug for some reason. Little jealous haha With the preheat function you found a work around what my initial concern was. I did not like waiting for the oven to heat up before putting the food inside. Currently the oven preheats and beeps when ready and then the timer would start a new countdown when it actually is cooking. Maybe it’s just a matter of me getting accustomed to how this specific oven works. One major pro is just how quiet this oven is. After using a few different functions I couldn’t believe how quiet it actually is. To the point where I almost forgot it was on.

TIA
@FloralApronBlog
@FloralApronBlog 3 месяца назад
Hi, thanks! I totally understand your concern, and I think it depends on how much you need that extra 2-3 minutes in the morning versus the other features. Over time, I've gotten used to it, and I really don't think it's that bad, especially if you consider that you can fit a lot more toast in the oven at a single time than you could a regular toaster. I could comfortably fit in 5 bagels (10 slices) or 9 slices of bread at a time, which is quite a bit compared to other toaster ovens. That alone might save you some time because you don't have to do two or three cycles, but it depends on what you mean by "a lot of toasting." It's fairly easy to plan around it once you get a feel for it, and I can usually make an omelet, blend a protein shake, or do up a few dishes while I'm waiting so I don't waste any time. The timing may also depend on your ambient humidity level and the type of bread you use most. I've found white bread tends to take longer to toast than whole grain bread (but only by like a minute), and I've had a few people tell me they don't personally have an issue with their toaster taking longer than the presets say. If I could do it over, I would still get the Breville even with the longer toast time, but that's just me :)

For the baking function do you use the same temp and time as your recipe (old recipes and regular cookbook ones) or special temp and times that the air fryer has preprogramed?
@FloralApronBlog
@FloralApronBlog Год назад
I use the temperature specified in the recipe! This is essentially just another oven, so you shouldn't need to adjust any bake times or temperatures. The only time you would change the temperature and/or time would be if you are using the convection or air fry setting *instead of * the bake function. So, for example, the frozen breaded chicken we like says to bake at 375°F for 23 minutes. I normally do that, but if I want it done quicker or more crispy, I'll use the air fry setting at 375°F but only set the timer for about 17 minutes to prevent the chicken from getting overcooked (since things do cook faster on convection and air fry settings). And just for clarity: The air fryer setting isn't necessarily "pre-programmed," as it just remembers the last temp/time combo you used the time before. So you would likely have to manually adjust the temp and time each time you used it, unless you only ever air fry one thing. It's not like a "popcorn" button on a microwave where you press it and it figures it out ;) Hope that helps! :)

The Breville still makes toast correctly; it just takes a long time to do so. Now that I've had the toaster oven for over a year, I've gotten used to the extra couple minutes it takes to get the toast to my desired toastiness and don't really notice it anymore. If you didn't see it, I share my trick for getting my ideal toast in the video at 3:27, and that has worked for me! There is not another product on the market (that I have researched) that has a similar interior size and nearly as many settings/functions with fast toasting, which is why I still recommend the Breville over the others despite the minor flaws. Others are good at toasting quickly, but they have hot spots that make baking a nightmare and don't have nearly as many functions (no proof, no dehydrate, no slow cook, etc). Like I say in the video, if *quick* toast is really important for you, I would recommend buying a separate toaster, then using the Breville for all other functions, as it is second to none in regards to even baking :)

@FloralApronBlog
@FloralApronBlog 3 месяца назад
This oven is a good all-purpose baker, so anything I say in regards to baking in general also refers to cakes! I have over a dozen short-form videos of me using this oven for cakes, cupcakes, brownies, macarons, breads, etc over the last 15 months or so if you're curious and want to see it in action :) You can see in the video right around 9:30 that my 6" confetti cakes came out perfectly golden with no hot spots. That's been my experience with every cake I've put in there, including square ones. I still tend to use my gas oven for cakes 8" and over, but that's only because I can fit three 8" pans on the same rack in my gas oven (and it takes less time overall to bake them in one round than three). I can fit two round 8" pans in the Breville on the same rack, but it's a little tight, and I haven't tried baking with them like that. As for temperature consistency, macarons are usually a pretty good tell, and I got perfect macs the first time I baked them in this oven. My previous toaster oven had awful hot spots, to the point where I didn't even attempt baking in it, but I haven't worried about anything I've baked in the Breville. My unboxing video (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-acWDhcGg21U.html) might be helpful for you in your research if you haven't watched it already. I have a little more about the settings/features/accessories there, including how it has six quartz heating elements that heat evenly from top to bottom. Not all the elements are on for every setting, but they're designed to heat as needed to keep the temperature consistent. Hope that helps! :)

I don't know that I would have willingly given up this much counter space in our old house lol Have you looked into Green Pan's Elite Convection Air Fry Oven (aff link-amzn.to/3PyMoLP)? It has the controls on the top with what looks to be a similar interior size, and while I haven't tried it myself, one of my friends likes hers. I'm hesitant about having the controls on the top because ovens tend to degrade faster when their control panels are repeatedly heated, though. My Breville gets pretty hot and heats up the cabinet above it a bit, and I can't imagine that being great for electrical components. I totally understand the need for a smaller footprint, and that design is a great way to save space; it just *may* result in a shorter lifespan. I would hope it's engineered properly so that isn't a huge issue, but again, I don't have one, so I couldn't tell you for sure. Just something to think about if you haven't already! Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment :)

@@FloralApronBlog You make a good point.. I was looking at another oven with the controls at the top, and some people said the buttons gets so hot you can't touch them. So I can see how that would reduce the life of the oven. I think I am probably going to end up getting the Breville. It seems to have the least of the issues of the ones I've looked at so far. Thank you for sharing your thoughts!

Hi ur video is so helpful but I dont know which one I must buy ? Sage SOV860 or BOV820
@FloralApronBlog
@FloralApronBlog 11 месяцев назад
Thanks! It looks like both of those are the Breville/Sage Smart Oven Air Fryer, not the Pro that I reviewed in this video. I don't have that one, and it looks like it doesn't have quite as many features. I've linked the oven I use in this video in the description if you want to compare it to the ones you're looking at. From what I'm seeing online, Breville and Sage are the same company, just different names, so the brand name shouldn't matter too much as long as the plug matches your outlets.

The wattage maxes out to where the amps can get over 16 amps so this should really be on it’s own dedicated 20 amp arc fault circuit breaker
@FloralApronBlog
@FloralApronBlog 6 месяцев назад
Yes, and it is. The outlets in my kitchen are divided between two 20-amp circuit breakers, and the Breville was the only thing plugged in at the time. (Dishwasher, disposal, microwave, and oven are all on separate circuits.) As written on-screen at 1:51, the manual recommends "operating the oven on a dedicated circuit separated from other appliances," and that's what I have been doing :) That's why I recommend older homes or homes with electrical issues get a onceover from an electrician to make sure their homes can handle it.

How does the Rotate Remind setting work? I am.having priblem a figuring out?
@FloralApronBlog
@FloralApronBlog 7 месяцев назад
You can press the select dial, and the oven will beep at you about two-thirds of the way through the bake time to remind you to rotate the pan. There are more details for you in the manual on page 13 :)

Do you know when this goes on sale? It’s $450 now. Also, I initially was just looking for a nontoxic air fryer but I’m now considering this. Does the air fryer work really well or is this just more of an oven?
@FloralApronBlog
@FloralApronBlog 10 месяцев назад
It looks like it's only $400 on Amazon right now, but it was on sale in the last year for $320 at Black Friday and Easter :) Like I said in the video, I haven't used the air fryer setting a whole bunch, but everything I've used the air fry setting on has been accurate and just as crispy as a regular air fryer (fries, hash browns, home-fried chicken, tater tots, etc). I'd say it's even an upgrade from the standard air fryer because the large basket means you don't have to shake the food midway through baking! Edited to add: Now, as of 9/13/23, my Amazon is also showing it for sale at $450.

can you store the racks and pans that come with the oven in your oven while you're using it?
@FloralApronBlog
@FloralApronBlog 11 дней назад
I always keep the two racks in there; that's fine. I wouldn't recommend also keeping the roasting pan with its rack, the pizza pan, *and* the air fry basket in the oven while baking, as that won't leave you much room inside, and I'd assume having all that in there would change the airflow considerably. Personally, I tend to keep the roasting pan in the oven on the upper rack, then place it on the top of the oven if I want to use a different pan (or just make toast/bagels on the upper rack). Then, I keep the smaller rack for the roasting pan, the pizza pan, and the air fry basket in the cabinet below my Breville.

I read in the description for this brand that they have non stick interior. Does the mean that it does not get very heavy coating of oil and other stuff on the inside walls of the oven. Does it also mean that it is much easier to clean than other brands that dont have non stick interior walls?
@FloralApronBlog
@FloralApronBlog 7 месяцев назад
There is a nonstick interior, but it doesn't prevent a buildup of oil if you bake or air fry greasy foods. It just makes it easier for you to wipe off that buildup when you do clean it. I show how to clean the inside of the oven at the end of the video if you haven't watched that part yet :)
@markdossett9100
@markdossett9100 5 месяцев назад
Still get grease build up and still hard to clean, especially the inside top. Need to get a steam cleaner then wipe with warm water and cloth.

So I just bought one of these and have only used it a few times. The thing I noticed was only 2 of the 4 coils light up on top. Is this normal for the type of item being cooked? Will all 4 work on other types of meal/settings? Or do I have a bad unit? Thank you!
@FloralApronBlog
@FloralApronBlog 5 месяцев назад
It depends on the setting! I don't think there are many, if any, settings that actually light all four at once. The best way to tell if it's functioning as it should is to use an oven thermometer. (This is the one I have if you don't have one: amzn.to/48IwCpd .) If it's within 5°-10° of the temperature stated on the screen after it has preheated (and keep in mind that the first "beep" for the preheat is actually only at 75% of the temperature marked on the screen), you're golden! :)

Hi! It mostly depends on if you think the extra couple features and interior size are worth the price difference. I discuss my reasonings for going with the BOV900SS rather than the BOV800XL in this video around 7:31 and also in my unboxing video around 11 mins here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-acWDhcGg21U.htmlsi=_uMbQfmLBsUC12le&t=660. I just retired eight months and want to do a lot of cooking at my place. I am a single guy never been a cook at home person so I hope you don't mind me asking this question. Will this smart oven replace a microwave.
@FloralApronBlog
@FloralApronBlog 7 месяцев назад
In the same way that a regular oven can replace a microwave, yes; however, it doesn't have a microwave function, so it won't heat things quickly like a microwave. What would take three minutes to warm in the microwave will probably take about an hour in the oven.

Quarter sheet and jelly roll pans are different sizes. Both fit in the Breville, but the jelly roll pan is a little bigger, which is why I recommend using jelly roll pans over quarter sheets to maximize the space :)

Hi, do you know if the volume and light display brightness can be adjusted? Thanks!
@FloralApronBlog
@FloralApronBlog 5 месяцев назад
Yes! I mention in this video in the miscellaneous portion that the volume has three settings: Loud, medium, and silent. I keep mine on medium. There is no adjusting the brightness, but the backlight on the display dims after about a minute of no use :)

@karenconnermusic 5 месяцев назад
@@FloralApronBlog oh thank you! I must’ve missed that part. The one we bought actually isn’t the one with the air fryer so I wonder if the volume would also be adjustable. It doesn’t say in the manual. The brightness also didn’t seem to dim on ours after no use and unfortunately it’s just too bright for me. We also have an older home and the breaker tripping might be an issue. So with all of those factors we’re unfortunately planning to return ours :(
@FloralApronBlog
@FloralApronBlog 5 месяцев назад
Ah, okay, it doesn't look like that one has the volume adjustment, then. It's the same button as the °F/°C converter on mine, just with a little speaker graphic underneath. I looked up that model's manual, and it says the screen should dim after 10 minutes-though I'm sure it feels like longer when you're watching, waiting for it to go off lol! Either way, I hope you are able to find something that works for you!

@@FloralApronBlog thank you so much for looking into it and getting back to me with a thoughtful reply. 😊 We decided to just keep our current convection oven. We thought there was something wrong with it because it kept tripping our breaker (if on the same outlet as another device) but after hearing how the Breville can trip breakers too we realized our older house probably just isn’t able to handle it. Lol. If we get a new one in the future I’ll consider the Breville with air fryer since it has the volume options and the light dims quickly.

Interesting! Another commentor said they also don't have any condensation, so it could be a regional issue, or perhaps the Breville just has a better seal to keep heat and moisture in.
