This has helped ease my mind on taking Effexor, especially when you recommended to write down what I was afraid on (SO MANY THINGS) and then answer those questions, educate myself etc. I feel much more comfortable taking it now. Thank you so much, will start tomorrow.
On my 3rd day on 37.5mg, to be honest, compared to lexapro and zoloft, my side effects so far are nothing compared to those above! My body is so sensitive to. Just a little shakey, and anxious but so easy to push through it. Can feel this is going to be a success this Effexor, also not decreased my sex drive at all, actually has improved it a little lol, everyone is different though was petrified of this, but thanks for the videos it gave me the courage to give it ago!
I’ve been on 37.5 mg Venlafaxine for about 16 months now. My side effects for the first week I took it were horrible. Brain zaps, nausea, shakiness. My body adjusted quickly and I’ve felt great ever since. Back to my normal self. It still takes work ...eating healthy, exercise, talking,.... I’m very thankful. My mother went through the same bout of anxiety/depression at the same age as me. She has been on Venlafaxine for a long time and it works for her. Apparently , if a particular med works for an immediate family member there’s a good chance it works for you. Love your channel! Thank you for opening up and putting yourself out there for people like me to relate to! ❤️
Hey Krista, thanks so much for sharing your personal experience. Yes, I've heard that as well about medication working for one family member and having a similar effect on another. I'm so happy to hear you have found relief with this one. The brain zaps are something a friend of mine had recently discussed with me. Her doc had no idea what she was talking about and she left feeling like something was wrong. It's one of the strange side effects for sure..happy you aren't experiencing that any more. Feel free to keep in touch ! Thanks for watching
I’m on my second day, and I woke up this morning shaking, heart racing, feeling like my whole body was tingling. It was strange, but I know I just gotta push through
Doctor gave me this medication for pain and anxiety. I have chronic pain and this medication hasn't helped, but has helped tremendously for anxiety. Do have alot of side effects taking this medication now, but I think i would prefer to have these side effects rather than the anxiety. Very worried for the day I decide to stop this medication due to the story's with withdrawal.
been on 37.5mg for a month now and I'm feeling so much better. I started noticing a positive change after the 10-14 day mark. sending good thoughts to all
I have been on this medication for about 2 months now and I feel better as far as my emotions. I have migraines and nausea and sweat to the point that my entire head is wet. I've already talked to the doctor to reduce my dosage. I eat a plant based diet so I haven't noticed a weight increase just yet! I don't have muuch energy. Thank you for your sharing!
i'm mostly vegan and gained 30 kg. I suspect it's interpersonal variation in metabolism response to the drug and not necessarily diet. But weight gain has a lot of other influences such as physical activity, age etc. My motivation and overall energy levels in terms of physical activity has decreased. I'm on 150mg XR
Please know that the withdraw symptoms are debilitating. The moment you try to reduce your dosage, you will get painful brain zaps and doctors don’t know what causes them. It took 1 full year to get off of this medication. It was the most awful withdrawal symptoms that I’ve ever experienced in my life. It will help your anxiety, but it will take away your spirit. It will make you less empathetic over the long term. It will cause people to look at you differently, and it will be the hardest medication to get off of. Also if you’re planning on having kids, it’s considered a class-c medication, therefore you will have to go through extra ultra-sounds to look for fetal heart problems. You’ll be treated differently if you’re on this medication while pregnant and pay more out of pocket. One of the reasons why I wanted to get off of it is because I realized how awful it felt missing ONE dosage. Or reducing the milligram by 15mgs… Let’s just say, if pharmacies go down…. You’ll be on the floor having compulsions for weeks. You will feel imprisoned to this drug. Please be careful.
I was on 75mg of effexor for years for anxiety then last year told doctor I was down and he's like effexor doesn't work on depression until you hit the 150 mg level so it was upped and few weeks later was like the lights where turned on.
Venlafaxine is very good on mental side of spectrum but man physical symptoms are very annoying, sweating like crazy even in Winter, rapid weight gain( its because you have extreme craving for sugar) , oh and yes forgott about sexual life on this. I dont know wich is worse honestly.
Have you ever tried getting off the medication? It took me an entire year to get off of it. Worst withdrawal symptoms I’ve ever experienced. Not being able to get off the medication was more depressing. I had these debilitating brain zaps, like electrical pulses going through your entire body.
Day 3 and I’m done. Like flying through clouds 5 hours after each dose, can’t focus or work, I can tell I should not drive, completely numb, memory issues, and when asked a simple question by family, I couldn’t even answer properly. Horrendous experience at just 37.5….I hope others beware.
I take it in the morning I'm taking 2x 75 MG per day recently going to try going up to 3x 75 MG per day what has been your experience with taking the medication. At different times of the day? Morning vs night and how did it make you feel? Also what do you think of dividing the 3x 75 MG capsules trhout the day?
If you taper off try the Prozac bridge method to reduce withdrawals. A very low dose of Prozac every few days should knock out most withdrawals. It has a very long half life.
Hey Barry, sorry for the delay thank you for sharing your own experience. Do you mind if I ask why you need to come off of it? are things in your life better or do you feel like the medication isn't good fit anymore?
@@jorgesalgado2126 was this method successful for you? Are you completely off the Effexor now? I recently moved my son from IR to XR. Though it’s helped his anxiety, it’s robbed him of his joy. I’m wanting to try him on something different, like lexipro. I was thinking moving him back to IR first would be a good way to start the process.
I had a bad reaction to this med. I could have pushed through, but decided to stop because of my experience. Everyone is different and reacts differently to medications so take it with a grain of salt, but I did want to share my experience. I took this medication for anxiety at 37.5mg for 2 days starting Dec 25th and that was enough for me. The first day was fine, the second day (yesterday) I felt depersonalization and like what was happening around me was not real. Last night I went to bed at 10pm and woke up 2 hours later having racing thoughts and hallucinations and hot flashes. My heart was racing, I had a burning in my chest that radiated up to my underarms and my body was shaking and sweating profusely. This was followed by chills and then repeat of the same scenario with the hot flashes and racing thoughts/hallucinations. I thought I had been given LSD by mistake! I did not take my third dose this morning. I'm wondering if I will still get the withdrawals even if I only took two doses?
Hey Catherine, I'm so sorry to hear about your experience. That must have been terrifying. It's so interesting how each person can have a totally different reaction than another. I've heard from others who have had negative side effects and experiences and then others, who have had similar experiences to my own. I truly hope you find that right fit for you! Try not to lose hope and be sure to check in with your doctor about this if you haven't already . Best of luck
@@JustBreizy Thank you so much for the reply! I will likely be going back on Cipralex as I had great results with that medication several years ago. :)
@@peachwedding Those symptoms are a huge red flag. Very good you came immediately off it. I believe it says in the leaflet that if you experience depersonalisation and hallucinations to stop taking it and contact your doctor immediately.
if you have depression Brie you will need to increase the dose to at least 75mg because at 37.5 you are largely getting seritonin .its only when you get yo 75mg that you will get the noradtenaline effect which helps depression . And still at 75 it should not greatly affect your sex drive
I was on Tramadol for a surgery a year ago. They just took me off of it. I liked how Tramadol was able to make me forget about my pain and concentrate on life again. My doctor says this stuff is for pain and to help with ADHD, which I scored borderline on a test awhile back. Is this going to help both of these things? I am supposed to start in a day and am worried.
Hey there I can’t really speak to how this will help with your ADHD or pain but I know for me with anxiety and seasonal depression it has helped me greatly if you’re still not sure about it definitely reach out to your doctor until you feel comfortable wish you the best of luck let me know how it goes
@@MiraCassandre Hi- You know at first it did and then it kind of wore off. It first seemed almost like Adderall. I was focused, felt like I had so much energy and then after a couple of weeks, it didn't help. It did help with the pain. That, and my medical marijuana, helped me off any harmful stuff from my tailbone surgery.
37.5mg worked so well for me after 4 weeks! Doctor recommended upping to 75mg he believes will help me even more. Lot of negative reviews on RU-vid for this drug but by far best I’ve tried.
Hey Mike Thanks for watching and for sharing your own experience. Yes, I've seen a lot of negative reviews as well. I know people will react differently to medications than others. Thankfully this has been a great one for me. How have you been doing?
@@JustBreizy so I’ve been on 75mg for 4 weeks after 6 weeks of 37.5. I have to same symptoms I did the first few weeks of taking 37.5. So I’m not feeling great. I’m not sure if I should give it more time as the negative symptoms cleared up eventually on the 37.5 or if I should go back to the 37.5.
I just started this today and honestly I’m struggling. This is the first medication I’ve ever tried and my doctor started me on 75mg. I experience extreme depression, anxiety, and ptsd and used to self medicate with smoking pot, which over time caused me to lose my appetite, so since quitting smoking my appetite was already terrible, but since trying the medicine today, I have completely had no desire to eat, not even 1 or 2 bites of anything. Should I give it a few more days? Any tips or tricks? Will my appetite eventually come back with Effexor?
HI there, thanks for your comment..from my own experience any of these types of side effects were short lived. But I would keep an eye on it and if you don't see improvement reach out to your doc for sure!
Hello I started effexor about 9 weeks ago. I used to smoke just like you as well. At first my appetite was weird which I think was a mixture of quitting w**d and the effexor but after about 2 weeks I felt normal again. In the beginning when it was hard to eat I bought/prepared my absolute favorite foods (burgers, ramen, cheez its , strawberries) and once you force yourself to take that first bite it wasnt too bad and still kindve enjoyable lol. =) But after those two weeks itll be normal again.
3rd day on it, ears ring, i heard it takes a month to kick in, but honestly i feel like i dont care about much, and im a worry wart, maybe a placebo effect? having a lil hope maybe
Be sure to keep note of any side effects you might experience. Check in with your doc in about a week or two if needed. I worry about everything too! Thankfully this has really helped ease my over thinking and worry to a health point.
@@JustBreizy im having such a life change , diet is pure no refine sugar drinking golden milk , im walking , no reason to take life so serious, it is permanent, im 54, look 40, seein psyche in a week, she gave me seroquil to sleep, i feel soooooooo much better, just getting sleep. thyroid issue,,,,,,,but lady, you should be cannonized, you are saint and i lean on your words because its how i think, and i wont be so fearful, ty for the reply, still kinda hesitant to stay on effexor, but im really listening to your shit! lmao notes notes notes!
I am on 300 mgs of gabapentin and 37.5 mgs of venlofaxine a day. I just started 6 days ago and so far i have been very sick but its like the side effects are slowly going away. It has been very rough for me
hey, sorry to hear it's been rough - I hope it gets better. I can't speak for gabapentin but the first week of 75 mg venlafaxine was also difficult for me. Spent a couple nights up cradling a bucket etc...I can tell you it did get better after that and after about 2 weeks I no longer had those issues. Hopefully the same happens for you - all the best!
Hi Lovely Brei, I just came across your page today. After seeing my doctor i then went on to Dr Google and shitty my pants about switching mediation from Lexapro to Effexor venlafaxine. I was on 10mg of Lexapro for a year now and similar to your story I had some relief from my anxiety but felt off- not myself- wanting to do and be more of what I know I can do and be if that makes sense. But having that blah feeling everyday and not being able to move past it. I'm Im currently weaning off Lexapro and taking 5mg at night time. How did you make the transition? My doctor said I can start on new Effexor tomorrow morning as it is more of a "Get Up and Get Going" type of medication which im hoping can help me do what i love like to go for walks and wake up more ready for the day and less sluggish. Sorry for the essay! Just wanting your experience on what time you take it? What you found works for you? Also not sure if you drink the occasional alcoholic drink but I did read that you can't drink alcohol? The other part im nervous about is pregnancy I am hoping to start a family in the next 2 years maybe and wondering if your doc explained more than mine about what to do around the meds and wanting to fall pregnant. My doc mentioned if I was about to start planning a family soon he wouldn't recommend starting on this medication? But as I said it wouldn't be for a year or 2. My worry would be if it is a great medication for me and my mental health how do you get around the weaning off and not being able to have it through pregnancy? Thanks in advance for your thoughts. ♡ Martha, Australia xx
Hi Hannah sorry for the delay. I take mine in the morning . I was going to try at night but found I would fall asleep and forget so for me the morning works better
I’ve just started today with the same dose (75mg once a day) and I feel really nauseated and little appetite. I’vê read that this medication has as a side effect the weight increase. Has anybody had this this side effect?
Hey Gary, thanks for asking. I did a video on my first weeks of lexapro heres the link ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-pgeAhuPtVqs.html I don't know that I remember enough specifics do to one on my first two weeks of effexor though. Hope you are well
I've tried many antidepressants but only for sort of 4-8 week trials, not at max dose. After a suicide attempt I'm beginning Venlafaxine, and willing to try it long term and high-dose this time. I hope it will help me, as I currently don't work nor have friends. Depression/Anxiety has really screwed me. Enjoyed the video btw
I feel lethargic and get tired need a nap. I am calmer though. I do eat a a ot so no loss of appetite at 75mg dont feel very motivated yet also have ADHD low dopamine and serotonin and hormones,
Different medications have different effects on people, this medication has really helped my social anxiety condition. Give it a try and see if it works for you.
Can anyone help me? I started Effexor and today is day4 and I woke up with those wild wide open crazy eyes. Is this normal ? I don’t even want to leave the house because I look so crazy. I’m so concerned and I couldn’t find anything on google.
@@JustBreizy hi again I'm much better now been on it 4 weeks now and like you said first couple of weeks were a bit rough but now much better feel so much more positive hope you and family are all well thanks Andy
