Everyday I fix monumental fuck ups , its depressing , but the skills are going/ gone in the roofing game. Once again great video guys show the fhckers up 👍
Jesus, I do repairs for roofs rn and everyday I say “I’ve seen it all” there’s no way there could be worse but everyday something new pops up and this is definitely top 5 LOL so bad. THE ENDING it just kept getting worse 😭
First mistake is a flat roof in Scotland. Flat roofs are for Spaniards, not Scotsmen, because despite the legend, the rain does not fall mainly on the plain!
I was told by firestone representative if you give them the plan of the roof to be replaced with rubber. They will actually give you one piece of rubber so there are no joins. Although I can't remember if there is a limit to length or width, I know there shouldn't be on mine but I had already had it done in pieces, by a firm by then. Also they will work out what special accessories are needed to go around corners etc. I would like to redo mine completely
The biggest problem is that they are still putting osb over the pir insulation board with no ventilation. If you put timber over a warm roof it must have a 50mm gap between the board and the insulation. Also vents at both ends to allow air flow.
That would be crazy heavy. And seams are tougher than any other section anyways as they're three or four layers thick all glued together (when done right)
This is half the problem people looking on internet at doing jobs there I'll equipped to do. Single membrane and fibre glass flat roofs are the worst everyone and his dog are doing them and this is the outcome.
surely the void at 5.00 is ok, it should be warm like underneath it, insulation on top - though the gap where the old room meets could mess this up of they didnt put PIR in there warm, air would get up there and condense under the top layer
Another case of builder thinking he’s a roofer I had the the same thing builder put flat roof on with believe it 2x25mm insulation on top of beams 18mm osb epdm stuck down with carpet clue and a blue tarpoline under tiles 2x beams floating in mid air foot short of main beam still fighting builder and he’s still doing other jobs
A lot a roofing is following shite work! All ya got in this game is your name and if you get a bad one you’ll never succeed! This job is shocking! How he had the balls to do the work to this standard knowing his names on it is beyond me! Full job screamed cowboy! Nothing trimmed!, all drips nailed!!🤦🏻♂️ lead nailed! Then His tongue n groove osb was floating??? I don’t even think the slate roof was battened they just slated it straight through felt 🤦🏻♂️ you should get his details from customer n shame him! He shouldn’t be allowed to trade! People think roofing works expensive but like a bloke I know always says “ you try getting a shit one!”. We’ll done lads keep fighting the good fight 🤣
Not a fan of rubber roofs . Always think they look a bit on the cheap side . Grp , lead or felt better .they also look like they can be easy torn from birds pecking on them
@@roofingshiteroofing1189 grp can be done on warm roofs too . As long as they do the kingspan and vapour barrier right . I think cure it have just bought out a new product to make warm roof insulation quicker . U don't have to board on the kingspan Now they have this primer that goes straight over the top
There are idiots out there doing this all the time they don’t care about their customers. They don’t care about the quality of their work. Literally this country is full of them now
a dont know why people use that stuff its not even specified by the council, the braas pib system and the rheponol were the best, a stuck with the same pvc membrane from the seventies until retirement, cant beat the old school stuff, lead zinc copper and clay tiles, worked well, the problem with the pvc any contact from bitumen or polystyrene destroys the plasticisers, a remember the days you got paid by the square yd 10 p for vented, 14 p for underlay fully bonded and 20 p for mineral finish green blue grey red white etc, maybe am just an old grumpy get
All slate roofs in Scotland are done this way, felt on the sarking board. Sarking is normally 150mm x 16mm soft wood. Slate is then nailed directly on top. No counter batten or batten. Also fuck all airflow.
Yeah that’s my thoughts on the airflow…nice videos by the way these shit roofers are definitely keeping you busy.. nice work from you though! All the best lead welder and roofer in Cambridge👍
@@deanamends1278 OSB or plywood has replaced boards. My preference is to sheath the roof, then felt, then battens (treated 2x1-1/2") then the slates or tiles, 👍 🔨 🇮🇪
No, not at all. The customer received an estimate from me. She was invoiced and used the invoice to claim money back from the original builder. No CASH
