6 Months Secretly Building my Wife a $6000 Ice Bath

From start to finish, the story my longest, failure fueled build I have ever attempted. And I loved every minute of it. So pour yourself a cup of english tea and watch the building of this one of a kind Ice Bath.
Jacob is weird. A self confessed oddball who continuously takes on projects that most wouldn't go near. Building a tiny house cabin, a dutch barge boat and all manner of wacky bits and bobs. To reiterate, Jacob is weird... but weird is fun.

I'd never seen the barrel approach before you showed some examples at the beginning. I guess now I know why the horse trough design is more popular after seeing Amber having to use a ladder to get in. Looks cool though!

Yes! If I was to do it all over again I think I'd look into carving it on its side (Like a traditional canoe). Might have been the way to go!

What ho, JH? Well done you. I can finally end the months of wailing and gnashing my teeth, fearful that I'd never again witness another video showcasing the brilliance and talent that is Jacob Harrell. You, sir, are becoming a force of nature. I look forward with anticipatory delight to life's next offering. Be well. Happy days.

🤣😅😂 Jacob, I bet your you know what disappeared right away when the one remaining felt just how cold 🥶😵‍💫 that water was 😳🫣. Obviously, Amber loved the woodtub 💯%. Just a suggestion for you even though you have used Danish oil on the tree stump, there's still a very high possibility that over time, the woodtub will start to soak up water/moisture and cause fungus and rot to take a hold within the stump. You can still negate this from happening by simply applying an epoxy mixture. If you make a small amount of epoxy resin, then add around 30 to 40% thinners. This will make the epoxy easier to apply to the whole thing with a paint brush and actually seal the whole woodtub, etc. You will need to apply two coats of this mixture all over the woodtub inside and out, especially the underside of the woodtub. Knowing just how much trouble you had to actually install the chemical barrel and the fact that you may not be able to remove it from the middle of the woodtub then you can use the mixture everywhere as I mentioned but instead of removing the barrel just brush the mixture right upto and around the whole area then once the two coats are dry just use a silicone sealant around the whole area where the barrel and the hole meet, this too will also help keep out any moisture. The very last thing, but honestly, it is the most important, and it's about the chemical barrel. You mentioned in the video that the barrel was an old barrel. Please tell me that the barrel is one that you have not upcycled. If the barrel ever had chemicals in it at anypoint in it's lifetime then I suggest that you get rid of it and purchase a brandnew one. You can buy one from eBay for around £50 ish that's never had anything in it . The reason I mention this is simply because even though you may have washed the barrel out and think it's clean, in actual fact you never actually get everything out of the walls of the barrel. The very last thing I would like to hear down the road is that Amber has been using her woodtub and suddenly come out in a rash or some kind of infection as you never really know what damage it may do to Amber's health or your's for that matter. Remember, new tub it around £50 and how much do you value Amber's health and your's 🤔🤔. Jacob, brilliant idea with the tree stump, but you made it 1000% harder to create than it needed to be 🤣😅🤯. As always buddy 💯% 👍 🫡. P.s. Jacob a new barrel also comes with a lid saving you having to empty and clean it out everysingle time!!!

You are 100% correct with everything! I have also been thinking of epoxying, I’ll add it to the list of jobs I want to do to improve it! Thanks again, wonderful knowledge!

Should have put a lid on it and added a way to drain the water. Looks like a lot of work for what it is, fair play.
