Welcome to Yambling Yowies. Join Peter and I (Ingrid) on our latest adventure as we introduce you to our new home on wheels - the 19-foot Peregrine Zone RV caravan. In this week's episode, we take you on a comprehensive walkthrough, sharing our journey from our previous 16-foot caravan to this spacious and comfortable upgrade.
LIving in our caravan full-time for the past 6 months has been an eye-opening experience. The decisions to upgrade stemmed from our desire for more space and comfort. In our previous setup, the East West bed meant contorting ourselves whenever one of us needed to move, and the cafe seating didn't quite match our preferences.
The walkthrough includes a detailed exterior tour, showcasing the sleek design and features of our now 6 month old caravan. Inside, we delve into the layout and highlight the features that have made our nomadic lifestyle more enjoyable. One significant improvement is the transition to a more spacious bed arrangement, ensuring a comfortable night's sleep without the midnight gymnastics!
Surprisingly, despite the larger size, our 19-foot caravan weighs nearly the same as the 16-foot one, offering us improved manoeuvrability without compromising on comfort. It's a perfect fit for our travel style, allowing us to explore without feeling cramped.
Living in a caravan full-time has been a remarkable change from our previous four-bedroom home, but we couldn't be happier.
Join us on this tour as we share our experiences and insights gained from transitioning to this nomadic way of life.

Good video, as I'm looking into acquiring a Sojourn, instead of the Peregrine. What I'd like to hear about are issues you've experienced with the van, and how responsive Zone have been to correct it. And finally, what after-market changes you've made to it to suit your own needs. What I'd absolutely love to see is an East-West bed option in the Zone, similar to what is offered in the Titanium vans.

First, thank you so much for watching and providing a comment, it really means a lot to us. So, we have taken our Zone to the Cape, down through the Birdsville track, on the beach and really everything in between. We really put it through its paces so far. During all the dirt roads we had, we never had any issues with dust in the caravan, which is amazing. We have had a couple of items stop working like a fan and USB plus, we put in a warranty claim, Zone got back to us within 48 hours and our replacements parts were shipped to our current location. No questions, just a few pictures and that was it. So as far as service goes, I have to say that it has been top notch. Also, we still can’t get over the 2-day hand over that received when we picked it up. It was really a bonus for us, not having to rush to remember everything (even when we recorded it), but it also gave us peace of mind if we forgot, we could just call someone up. It also gives you the ability to make sure everything is working properly. Since we have bought the caravan, we filled the roof with more solar panels, so we now have 1060. We also had a pole holder installed in the tunnel boot, its for the anti-flap kit, but we use it for all our fishing rods. We also installed an anti-flap kit, which now that we have one, we will never be without one. We tried some claps, but found it pulled on the awning too much, and plus I don’t think it would have handled some of the wind we have had in South Australia so far. The only other thing we had done was we put a mount on the top of the caravan for the Starlink. We have seen others with a pole, and we don’t know which is better. We have to go through the sunroof to put it up, which isn’t a drama. We just have to get another cord if we are out somewhere where there is a lot of trees. Understand about going for the Sorjourn vs the Peregrine, we have met quite a few folks on the road who don’t like the door near the bed. And they wanted a bit more pantry space. At the end of the day, if you are living it, then little things like that could make a big difference on our comfort. As far as the bed layout, this would be something you would have to discuss with Zone. I do know that the expedition has an East West bed. Any other questions, please let us know.

Hi Guys - can you please provide details about what you use to attach your remotes to the cabinet next to the RedVision controller. They look very neat.
@YamblingYowies
@YamblingYowies 4 месяца назад
Yes, we just used the Command 3M velcro strips, that for 1.8 kilos. We put two strips on the back of both the air con remote and the fan remote. It takes a bit to push them on, but they have stayed up on all sorts of roads, even up to the Cape. Easy to remove, and we don't have to drill any holes anywhere. Happy to send a picture if that will help as well.

Thankyou for producing an informative video, i can only imagine how nervous you would have been. Can i ask you a couple of questions as we are thinking about a Zone, not sure if Peregrine or Sojourn as yet. Manoeuvrability is very important i have an extended jmacx 79 and its not the best turning circle. 1. How do you find the Van is to Tow as nearly all people who have RU-vid videos say they are a dream to tow? 2. Are you aware of the sojourn using a bed bolster and can you leave it in either van to give extra length without making it to hard to get around the bed? 3. Does the Cafe lounge restrict your walkway space in front of kitchen? 4. How do you find not having a pantry? 5. Is the toilet space cramped and is it smaller than the sojourn being a smaller van? Thankyou and have safe and happy travels.

Thanks so much for the questions and comments, hopefully the below answers will help you a bit. If you need more information on anything though, more than happy to answer any more questions you may have. 1. How do you find the Van is to Tow as nearly all people who have RU-vid videos say they are a dream to tow? We went from a 16’ single axle to a 19’ dual axle, so in that respect they are a dream to tow. When we had the single axle, we really felt all the bumps in the road, and we felt like it wobbled a bit. With this van it really feels like it just follows the car. We haven’t driven around with a whole bunch of different caravans, so we don’t really have anything to compare it to other than our single axle. And by far we can tell the difference. We found that with our single axle we could only go at max 90 km/h with the zone we have no issues sitting on 100 km/h. I don’t think we would go to the 21’ only because of the size. We have already been on a few tight tracks that were off the beaten track and while I am sure you could take the 21’s foot down the tracks, we found the 19 with the drawbar is probably as big as we would ever go. 2. Are you aware of the sojourn using a bed bolster and can you leave it in either van to give extra length without making it to hard to get around the bed? We are not aware if the sojourn has a bed bolster or not. You would need to ask Zone, as when we got ours, I think the Sojourn was a straight full Queen bed, whereas the Peregrine has a bolster. We tried it for a month, before we just left it out. We found it impacted the walkway too much and didn’t want to keep moving the bed in and out, since the door is by the bed. In the Sojourn the door is by the bathroom, so may not impact the walkway as much as the in the Peregrine. 3. Does the Cafe lounge restrict your walkway space in front of kitchen? Not sure about this either. Although, this was one of the reasons we went for a lounge seating in our van. We can easily move the table in and out and gives both of us plenty of room to move around the kitchen area. Our first van had café lounge and we just found it didn’t suit how we wanted to use the space - was just to bulky. I know with the café lounge you can fold the table in ½ so that would give you a bit of space to get around each other. Other than that, the seats you can’t move, so that space is what it is. 4. How do you find not having a pantry? We didn’t have a pantry in our pervious van, really, we didn’t have any cupboard space at all. So, moving into the Peregrine which has heaps of cupboard space, we have found we have more than enough room. We use on of the smaller drawers for a spice rack, and then anything heavy we have in a drawer, and anything light we have above the kitchen. 5. Is the toilet space cramped and is it smaller than the sojourn being a smaller van? The bathrooms in the Sojourn and the Peregrin are the same size, no difference. Again, going from our 16’ bathroom to what we have now we notice the space difference. You also get a bit more room when the door is closed, especially if you are sitting on the toilet. We do love the composting toilet 10x fold over the chemical toilets, but when you need to change them, they are a bit more work.

Great video guys. Glad you're enjoying your life and caravan. We're travelling to Coolum Beach next month to order our Peregrin so it's great to see how happy you are with yours. I'll take a special look at the silicon as I've heard elsewhere that it's good! If you don't mind me asking, where is it that you're staying in this video? That hillside spot and view looks so peaceful. Safe travels. Cheers

Thank you so much for the feedback. It's a bit daunting to put yourself out there, so all comments are truly appreciated. We still can't believe how happy we are with our choice and glad we didn't go that little bit bigger. We shoot that video in Adelaide Hills, a farm stay on Wiki Camps called: Hill View Farm Stay. $15 dollars a night. We stayed a week and only had one other camper the whole time we were there. The view is fabulous, and the owners did a lap years ago, and decided to help out the community by offering a bit of space on their property to stay. We would stop in here again, if we were in the area.

@@YamblingYowies Braver than we are for sure. Doubt we'll ever post on YT so appreciate it when others do. Thanks for the location details. Instantly adding that to our stopover list. The so-called Lap of Oz is getting longer by the day. Cheers.

@@cfriedalek yes our lap has turned into a zig zag of places, and our list has way too many places to ever be done in a year. So, we are happy to say we have no end date in sight. You will love travelling and meeting new and interesting people along the way, you never know we may see you around.

Just discovered your videos. Thanks for making them. I am about to buy a Zone Peregrin and I am wondering if you got your van weighed when fully loaded. If so can you tell me what your ball weight was. The reason for asking is I am pretty well limited to 300kg and I am after some real world measurements to understand if my van will be at or under that limit.
@YamblingYowies
@YamblingYowies 4 месяца назад
We didn't get our van weighed until after we were already on the road full time living in it. It came in just around 340 kg. We have tools, BBQ, chainsaw, in the front boot and then in the tunnel we have chairs, ropes, anti-flap kit, hoses, ect. Our van came in at 2780 empty, with water we are already at 3,020. We got all the extras though, so it also depends on what you are ordering as well. Not sure if that helps you or not, happy to answer any other questions you have.

Thanks for the quick reply. I expect my van to have a similar tare weight. The newer ones will be a little different of course. Looks like I will have to think long and hard about what gets loaded in the front compartments. Seems like that goes straight onto the ball weight. 340kg will be too much for my vehicle but then we won't be on the road full time. Thanks again.
