Congrats on your little one! I love that 9x13 pans! I made a real cheesy potato casserole in there. Nothing stuck. So easy to clean. And everything cooked evenly.
We have never used it for casseroles or lasagnas as we tend to prefer the stone wear. Stoneware (or cast iron) is not as reactive and so retains heat better. We also use metal serving spatulas for things like lasagna. That said, it would work well, its just not our go to.
Pampered Chef advertises 2 and that is officially what you should consider when buying it. The 4 hour number came from a director that tested it with a thermometer and the lid on and she observed effective heat retention for 4 hours. I dont know what the ambient temperature in the room during the test was.
Congratulations! That was a good suggestion for the secret center cake pan, to use it for a gender reveal. If you choose to do that here, I'd be interested to see it.
