I'm from Spain. I watched once a match in Cardiff (Wales-Ireland). Before, I had learnt the lyrics of the anthem (in Welsh). I could sing with the crowd and this memory will last forever.
Wow it bringed me tears! I'm French, our anthem is obviously my favorite. Its power and meaning are great, but I admit the Welsh anthem is sooo melancholic and beautiful! See u guys at the 2017 tournament :D
@SunshineonLeith2016 the welsh anthem is also the anthem of one of our french region (Britanny) and it is called "Bro Gozh ma zadoù" (old land of my fathers), and i admit that this anthem is the best in the world (with the french anthem of course)
@@ecz3393 Ich Dien, I Serve, Wales is the land of poets, and patriots, we don't have much and will give any one our last. We are loyal to Wales and our Celtic roots but while serve the queen as Brits, we will never be English
English fan here and everyone would expect me to be biased but I have to give it to the Welsh- phenomenal passion from every fan in that stadium. Good on ya! From an English bastard 🏴🏴
I’m English and love hearing the Scottish and Welsh National Anthems sang when at home I will always sit quietly and listen when they are being sang... love the friendly rivalry of home nations!
From a Scot, nothing friendly about it 😉. Just kidding of course, I love the rugby rivalry we have. I'm a huge fan of our football team as well of course but I cringe at the booing between our anthems in that. We're blessed to have the oldest rivalry in most sports, no need for us to make it anything else imo. All of that being said, Wales at home is by far the best of the 6 (as much as my pride says otherwise). Truly a bucket list for me to watch it in the flesh
I get more nervous watching Wales play Ireland than when playing England... Simple reason. Losing to an old enemy is hard. Losing to a brother is harder.
only in rugby you can feel the passion and the love of your country, it is a unbelievable, it is a great thing, that`s why I love more than rugby then other sports
Giorgi Kavtaradze Even here in the USA (where pretty much everyone, myself included, gives zero shits about rugby), our best singing of the anthem comes from rugby.
@@targettoad691 Playing your national anthem at all domestic events like the USA does dilutes it's appeal a lot. In international competitions it stirs up a team/fans and has it's meaning amplified. Who would really care if they heard the French national anthem at every domestic soccer or rugby match? It would become "meh, but when it's France vs England, then it means a lot.
I'm an English person living in Wales, never sung the English national anthem as its a pile of shite. The welsh national anthem is without a doubt the best in the world, the emotion every Welshman puts into that anthem moves me to tears.
MANY THANKS BENJAMIN, I WOULDN'T MIND SO MUCH, BUT THE " ENGLISH ANTHEM " IS ONE WHICH IS PLAYED IN THE OLYMPICS,FOR EXAMPLE, WHEN A BRITISH ( NOT ONLY AN ENGLISH PERSON) IS A GOLD MRDALIST, SO, IT CAN BE INFERED BY THIS, THAT ENGLAND HAS NOT GOT IT'S OWN NATIONS ANTHEM !? .
@@davidmorgan8867 not really the queen is English it makes sense that God save the queen is the English anthem, Although I don't think it's the best of the British anthems, when its sung properly it can be just as good as the rest.
They're all fantastic when you're there. Delighted to say I've heard them all, in all the stadiums. Each and every time it was a privilege. love the 6N. love each and every team. From an Irishman. 😀
Because I'm a proud Welshman. I'll admit I'm sometimes brought to tears listening to the anthem. Hearing it being sung by my brothers, sisters, mother's and father's as well as young and old all with the exact same love, passion and patriotism for their home country as I feel every time I sing it or hear it being sung. No matter where or when. Stadium, pub, street, or living room. You sing it because its an anthem written to be sung. Sung allowed for all to hear and know what you're all about as a nation. What you stand for. Who you are. What you're all about. I'll always be proud to sing my anthem and I'd like to ask anyone that would like to sing along just sing it with us ! One voice makes big difference even to the biggest choirs.
The welsh national anthem is the best anthem in the world looking at the crowd singing along passionately it gave me goosebumps love from khasiland northeast india
@@johnvictorengland7703 no the Queen represents a significant number of rugby playing nations! Including 3 and a bit of the 6 nations teams, plus the All Black's, Springboks and the Ausssies. Plus several other commonwealth realms..... We need a new anthem just for England leaving God save the Queen for the United Kingdom as a whole. Either land of hope and glory or Juruluselem would be appropriate
@@dasy2k1 Not really though. The only reason why she represents those other places is because of the Empire, which is implicitly English. The fact that she is the head of state of other countries too is just a testament to English power of old.
Boombox what’s with the hostility, it’s just an opinion, you need to chill, saying that could offend an entire nation. (I am very offended, so I’m going to politely to tell you to please think about what you’re going to say next)
Love the Welsh anthem. I lived at St Athan in the seventies and often heard the singing from the stadium on Saturdays when i was in Cardiff. It sent shivers down my back and made me gulp. Also love the Italian anthem. That takes some singing and the crowd always rises to the occasion. The Italians light up and look so happy..
Welsh anthem, the only anthem that can bring people all over the world together. The proudest and most passionate of them all, send shivers down spines and fills the heart full of love
The Welsh anthem brings years to my eyes. It's so powerful, three Bretons adopted the tune. Chware teg. The French anthem comes a good second. ⏩ Good save the (monarch) 🙄 Non, merci.
Many variables, acoustics of the stadium, number singing but I think we are are all agreed there’s a clear winner - on that given day the Welsh 🏴 were the more tuneful and harmonised. Wish I knew the words. More power to you Wales from 🏴
From a proud Scottish perspective... . I have always liked the French, Irish and Italian anthems.. . As well as Flower of scotland, although I have noticed that football players don't sing as passionate as rugby players.... But I must honestly say that the Welsh players and fans blow everything right out the window, what a noise you guys make
I can honestly say there's nothing quite like being in the principality stadium for the Welsh National Anthem. Absolutely epic, especially when the roof is closed!
I would put them both =, as my name suggest i am from Wales, but my Celtic Cousin "Flower of Scotland" is an amazing Anthem , and i could not pick between them, it's a Celt/Celt win..
@@duncancallum Names don't mean anything these days. My real name is very English sounding, but my family is as Welsh as they come. There are people from all around the world named Rhys, not just welshmen.
Left the best til last; the Welsh anthem is the only one in which enough of the audience knew the parts to harmonise loud enough to hear it. Cymru am byth!
Why didnt they play amhran na bfhiann? For me my favourites: 1. Hen wlad fy’n nhadau 2. Flower of Scotland 3. Amhran na bfhiann 4. La Marseillaise 5. Irelands call
@@TimoMomo Yes, but they sing Amhrán na bhFiann along with Ireland's Call when they're playing at home in Dublin, so why not include it? It's still a 6 Nations anthem
@@oog2370 Well there hasn't been a country called Ireland since 1922, didn't you know, the Free State broke away and created the Republic of Ireland in 1947.
@Anshul Sharma You have to be careful of the context before you say something like 'celtic scum'... Celtic means more than just a football team - three of these nations are celtic nations. Just in case you find yourself stabbed or worse one day, out of pure ignorance, without the having a barrier of anonymity to protect you.
Pretty cool when the pipe band stop playing for the second verse of the Scottish Anthem! I used to go to Murrayfield as a kid and loved the anthems. Always great respect shown by the fans of all nations.
When the Anthems are sang during rugby matches you can feel the power.... Total respect from both crowds.... during football matches people whistle and boo....
Anthems are at the level of the game played on the field, full of passion. Ireland has even a Call, only moment where inhabitants of all island can play together. Just one of the facts that make this tournament unique and passionate. From Brittany (same anthem as Wales)
You can tell it means so much to those from Eire that they can’t bring themselves to sing it. Tbh I’ve remained tight lipped as a Scot when GsTQ has been sung at events. The words would stick in my throat as it’s not mine.
Welsh is definately the best no other nation can instinctlivly sing in three differentt harmonies instead of just singing the tune sounding flat and laborious
bernice wigginx what a load of rubbish u just turn the amps up and close the roof to make it sound louder us scots actually sing the anthem with an open roof and a small stadium yet we are STILL A BETTER TEAM AND LOUDER
Gethin Evans come to murrayfield we would smash u so i would say they are the same however world rugby think different why dont you go and check the rankings out
The hills are bare now, and autumn leaves lie thick and still, O'er land that is lost now, Which those so dearly held, And stood against him, Proud Edwards army and sent him homeward, Tae think again!.
The Scottish one singing without choir or singers, it's just the crowd and bagpipes. Even when the bagpipes stops, the passion and singing continues😃. Hearing the anthem being sung a few years back at Murrayfield was something special and that was only the 7's festival👍.
I'm Welsh so I'd be bias in saying that Hen Wlad Fy'n Nhadau is the best. So in my opinion it is but I can never stop singing along to Ireland's Call. Such an awesome anthem
No need to rank them. All great. I am French but Flower of Scotland gets me all the time though goose bumps and more. Wish I could be at a game in Scotland once in my life. Good 2017 6N tourney to all of you!
As a Scot, I'd walk to the gates of hell with Flower of Scotland ringing out with the bagpipes blasting. But I'd love to hear and see the other 5 nations anthems coming over hill.
My ranking on a goosebump meter ;) : 1. Wales 2. Scotland 3. Italy 4. France 5. England 6. Ireland But I have to admit, that the welsh and the scottish anthem are almost too close to call.
