This was a great game played by both teams, neither team gave up and thoroughly played until the last second, this was truly a game of inches on every play
That Harrison catch they changed to incomplete was a catch 16:23. The announcers kept talking about his hand hitting out of bounds but he had a foot down well before the hand hit.
Great win for sure. After rewatching though, I now see why our WR didn’t get as much separation and some off timing. Significant holding on most routes, especially on a few Marvin Harrison attempts.
"Significant holding on most routes." You can just say stuff... or you could time stamp all of these missed holding calls you saw (and your own refs didn't). I found two, only one (deep ball to Harrison Jr.) worth calling. Your NFL WRs went up against two NFL DBs and got held in check. Usually WRs get the upper hand, this night they didn't. Sometimes it happens.
@@collinlewis1565they doubled or bracketed Marv all game. That’s why Emeka and Cade were cooking y’all. Dbs we’re holding all game just didn’t get called
ND was holding for sure but to be fair, so were ohio's Db's. I never care how the refs call it as long as it's the same on both sides. And I think they called it pretty fair.
I was surprised at how well ND was able to block the Ohio State defensive front. Before the game my biggest concern was the O line and QB. If Ohio State can not defend the run better against Penn State and Michigan, those could be losses. Now that we know where the weaknesses are, Ohio State has 4 weeks to get it fixed. Probably the best game since the comeback wins against Penn State.
I blame the game plan from the ND coaching staff. The QB should have been allowed to throw upfield more, but the Ohio State defensive backs played well. Could have been an adjustment during the game. Once the run was so effective, ND went away from the pass. I agree, he was not as good as I was expecting. And when ND had to get first downs when it mattered he didn’t get the job done.
Ohio State Defense outlasted Ohio State offense long stretches in this game Ohio State offense will get a quick three-and-out in that defense right right back on the field this is why the game was closed at the end the defense was tired Notre Dame's defense didn't play good they did their thing too and it is a great game but Ohio State offense has to come to play or we're in deeper trouble than we are admitting and it starts at quarterback
I am surprised that Ohio State did not take a knee on the extra point attempt. Had ND blocked the kick and scooped and scored the game would have been tied. With only 1 second remaining ND had no opportunity for a field goal.
A great game for sure. As a GoBlue Michigan fan I am looking forward to the big show in the big house, the big broader war will continue. As far as Notre Dame goes they just lose against the big two in the big ten, Yahoo....
Ohio state had changes to blow this game open. Dropped TD pass, missed Marv on wide open td in late 4th quarter. Several offense blocking schemes that were bad. Need to do more qb sneeks that would fix that 3rd and short. 2 bad penalties that killed 2 drives. Stuff to clean up for sure. Ohio State was just missing key plays by 1 inch all game long, but still pulled the out the win.
Notre Dame needed to run on 2nd down leading up to when they punted it away to OSU. Run the ball 3 times there, leave OSU with zero TO's and about 60 seconds left. FG doesn't beat you. 99.9% ball game over. Freeman better not have any mental gaffes like this game anytime soon or he'll create a hot seat for himself. McCord was tremendous on this drive.
I’m reserved and consider myself stoic by definition. I actually yelled at the television as I was not at this game. This was a battle of titans… well maybe titans and divinity… just an observation. What a battle, both teams physically and mentally exhausted after this game.
They need to go back to stopping the lock after a first down. People complaining about the clock stop that might be a reason it stop. Or there’s the two second delay of live tv. That’s why sometimes listening to the radio is better.
Even if time expired Ohio state would have had to attempt the Pat. Because it was only a 2 point game. So if Notre dame scored defensively they would have tied it
@@BrodieKnowsBall The spread was 3, ive seen walk off td's before but only in OT, never knew about the rule in regular time, thanks for the explanation.
Notre Dame is a great team but they aren't anywhere near Michigan right now thus the tough belt is in Ann Arbor and can only be claimed by OSU upon beating the very top of the B1G, Michigan. It will be a great game, regardless, come November, where we will find out who's the King of the North.
You could say that about both teams. When a game is that close both sides have many “could of, would of, should have” moments. The difference is when ND had to run out the clock it couldn’t while when Ohio State had to drive down the field, it did.
Or you can say ND should have won with their miscues and penalties, plus a dropped int, 10 men on the field, missed fg etc, bottom line, as an Irish fan, both teams played their hearts out and another reason why both are near the top most of the time.
Id like to know y ND fans Believe they "dominated" the sekond half?? U skored 14 in the sekond half. We skored 14 in the sekond half.. essentially, u did the same u did in the first half, just 3 points worse.
Can’t NOT convert two 4th and shorts in the first half. OSU was getting bullied, second half proved that. Stupid mistakes at the end of the game bailed em out. Irish by far the more complete team smh
Dream on, dude. McCord's first start in a major game, and OSU's OL lost 3 NFL players, and is still finding its feet. Despite that, your boys still couldn't win in their own house. And, your team couldn't convert two 4th and short as well. I'd be happy to take a rematch against the Irish on a neutral field later in the season. It wouldn't be a close game.
Certainly not the best officiated game! Plus our left side OL needs to block better! If they can stop reaching and sustain their blocks our run game goes to the next level! #71 needs to play a lot better! Isiah Prince 2.0
No he didn't. Ref blew the sideline catch he had for 32 yards. His foot was dragging as he made the catch. Home cooking. Plus he had a high ankle sprain.
@@brytams.8771 Marvin Harrison was a non factor. Ben Morrison locked him down. Nothing against Marvin Harrison, but Ben Morrison locks down every receiver he goes up against.
@@jarezbear9502 That's a horrible take. He still was making catches in the fourth quarter against him with a sprained ankle. The yards may not be there but the impactful catches were. Just re watch the game.
So many missed calls for pass interference on ND defense...they tried to rig it against the buckeyes...but you can't hold a good man down. You can try, but it can't be done.
