My only regret is my first ever shiny (barring GSC's guaranteed shiny Gyarados), a Zubat in pokemon Ruby's Granite Cave, I had no poke balls, at all

That reminds me of my first shiny encounter was a Bellsprout (Crystal Virtual Console) in Route 31 in the patch of grass just below the Dark Cave, i was training my mons and suddenly it appeared! I had no Poké Balls... It was heartbreaking. But that incident motivated me to start Shiny hunting for the first time, i became a shiny hunter for real after that encounter :) and i'll always carry Poké Balls w me after that...

My 2nd shiny encounter pre GameShark was a green zubat in ice cave unfortunately I failed to catch it much to my dismay.

Mine was zubat too....and I've caught a shiny one just going along the journey in every possible game since. Idk why but shiny zubat always finds me.

@@ikaniitoshi that incident with the Granite Cave Zubat, is why I carry no less than 1000 assorted poke balls in every game since

I had a Riolu that I was training in the wrong time of day. I had him up to level 70+ and couldn’t wrap my head around why he wasn’t evolving.

I remember waking up before dawn to play gold while watching Pokémon Johto on tv at like 5 am, sometimes I even got up early enough to watch transformers

The only Pokemon I caught with the intent of using only to ditch it was Budew during a Platinum playthrough Originally caught it for grass and poison coverage but it just wouldn’t evolve, when the Budew was level 25 with only Mega Drain as it’s only attack, I decided to then replace it with a level 22 Kadabra who I instantly trade evolved and taught it energy ball

I will always remember my very first shiny encounter, a shiny pidgey in heartgold before being able to catch pokemons.

I haven't had a lot of these kinds of experiences myself. But I Think I recall at least one that might count When Sword first came out, I looked through the Dex to see what new pokemon I wanted to use. I tend to go for a full team of 6 pokemon from the new generation, this time I wasn't quite warming up to many of the designs though, and I'd like to have type variation too, so I was having a hard time putting a team I wanted to use together. These days I'm more used to the designs, but back then? Mmh... So one of the mons I had in my team was Nickit. I like canine creatures, this was a fox and I didn't mind Thievul that much either. It was really nice to get it in my team pretty much right away too. The unfortunate thing is, that I never quite saw it do that much damage. I was surprised to see that it was a Special Attacker - and that it naturally only learned pretty much just 1 Special Attack move. That.... was quite disappointing. It's not that it's bad or anything, but when your mon is kinda fragile and fails to reliably KO pretty much Anything? Yeah, unfortunately, when I had a chance to replace it, I did. In the end I turned to using pokemon from previous generations during my playthrough because I vibed with them much more. Even had a friend trade over one of the other starters to give me some type variety I felt a little bad for not using Boltund even if I liked it a lot, but I went through the effort of hatching myself a shiny Electrike/Manectric so you know, I Had To use it during my playthrough. It was fine in the end & I couldn't resist it, but it did go against my ideal of 'only new pokemon'. Another thing I felt kinda bad about was boxing my Leafeon in favor of a Lucario. Leafeon had been in my team for several gyms and practically the whole plot of the game up to that point. But Grass wasn't going to be a very useful typing for the rest of the game for my team. Electric covered most water types, and Lucario just provided a lot of type coverage overall. So... Leafeon was retired. And I felt bad for it. I had some emotional attachment when it came to the Leafeon. It's my favourite Eeveelution, I hadn't gotten to use one before, etc etc. VS me having just caught the Lucario. It pulled its weight, but obviously it didn't feel the same

I have done the proper Magikarp grind many times. It is still worth the effort. It feels right to buy it instead of catch it later

The first Pokémon game I ever played was Ruby when I was 10. I chose Torchic as my starter because of the commercials showing him using Ember and I thought it was cool. I do not regret choosing that Torchic, but I did regret not catching anything else before Roxanne and taking a level 10 Torchic to face her. I tried for hours to beat her before I had the bright idea to go catch another pokemon.

The closest to this kind of regret I ever came was with Zubat. I thought that Zubat was pretty much the same as Magikarp. Starts out weak, but if you stick with it and really put in the time, it pays off in the end. This was in Gen I, so before Crobat made its appearance. My disappointment when Golbat turned out to be very mid was palpable. I put so much time and effort into training that Zubat, because I was expecting a Gyarados like payoff but Golbat was just ... meh. I dragged its ass all the way to the E4, hoping it would eventually outgrow its middling stats and moves but it never did. So, in the end, out of sheer frustration and vast disappointment, I put it in the PC and released it because I never wanted to see it again. It ended up being replaced by one of the legendary birds eventually, but for being called legendary birds, they didn't really impress me either. I think at the very end of that run, I finally just gave up and put the obvious powerhouse that is Mewtwo in that final slot

What!? That's hilarious. It doesnt look like anything special so what made u think it's a super powerful & rare mon? & even then Master Balls r only reserved for legendaries & shinies that u could fail catching.

One Pokémon I "regret" catching is shiny Lotad in Pokémon Emerald. I didn't know what shinies were so I just thought it was a funny looking lilypad so I put it in the PC and never used it once.

At least u didn't ran away or released it like many other kids. But never using it was almost like it never existed in your PC in the 1st place so the regret is understandable.

Similar to your Ledyba story, I tried using Ariados in Heartgold but it wasn't good enough... My first playthrough I also chose Chikorita and went all the way up to Red. I had somewhat of a balanced team, my Kingler crushed Lance with Guillotine. But my primary answer to Water types was my Meganium. And Red had Blastoise and Lapras, blasting 100% accurate Blizzard. At the time, I lacked the knowledge to counter that. So I restarted the game with Cindaquil. In White, I had a Seismitoad. Same type as Quagsire, perfect. Except, it couldn't learn Waterfall. I was so disappointed. Same game, I caught a Deino. It's late in the game, but it's a Dragon type. But it was too hard to train, and the gring was too much for me and I gave up. Finally, I kind of regret "catching" Pokémon Pearl as a game, because two of my favorites, Honchcrow and Skuntank, are exclusive to Diamond...

I regret catching Jigglypuff in Pokémon Ruby my friend told me that I could caught Clefairy in the location where we found Jigglypuff, I was kinda obsessed with Clefairy at that time due to the Pokémon Manga comedy that has Clefairy as the lead protagonist that I read after spending weeks running and running over to find that Clefairy, I only caught Jigglypuff with the feel of regret, then years later I found out that Clefairy was not even in Ruby, it was in the Kanto games, damn it I was fooled it was back when I was still in school

Regret only that I was born before games that allow you to check happiness (or beauty for that matter.) I understand having happiness evolution method on paper but in practice it makes switch training Magicarp seem like walking on a pavement.

I was sent a Pokémon and gotten a bad egg after breeding it. It can happen when traded a hacked Pokemon, even if you didn’t cheat yourself. Nowadays I don’t use master balls cause im always thinking “what if”.

I don't really regret catching anything since I usually explore and figure things out for myself. I guess I regret using an Action Replay to get some random pokemon, but a good chunk of them made the trip and live in my Home account. The other time I used an Action Replay to force shiny pokemon into my game was a pretty odd one as those also exist in my Home account. The only thing I got out of it is that cheaters never prosper because they miss out on the adventure for the easy way in, the short cut, of which usually isn't always the best way. Anyway, shiny pokemon don't really matter unless they have cool marks/ribbons. 😂

wow i had never heard of such a thing as ,,Bad EGGs" that is so interesting, does that still exist in the newer pokemon games ?
@dozzy9984
@dozzy9984 6 месяцев назад
They do. But they are basically a Pokemon with missing data, nothing dangerous (it doesn't spread, that Charmeleon and other mons were sadly a victim of dying cartridge, so data was going missing or was improperly stored by the game, which was resulting in it going missing). Also, bad eggs are kinda like MissingNo or other glitch mons - they show up if game is forced to show something that shouldn't exist (I think that's happening from gen 4/5 onward, I'm not sure which one). Anyway, if you see one and you weren't messing around with game hacking, you probably should migrate all your Pokemon to another cartrige, since they pretty much can mean cartrige is broken and might just die out anytime. (that's gen 3 to gen 7, on Switch games data is stored in different way - if you somehow see your mons turning into bad eggs in like Scarlet, then that would mean devs did a royal screw up)

I've never beaten Pokemon. None of them. Or at least I don't remember beating anyone of them. I usually get bored of grinding and quit. I was fine grinding in Final Fantasy, Crono Trigger, and such but for some reason, it just boards me in Pokemon. I've never had any attachment to any Pokemon. My main Pokemon I've always wanted was Mewtwo. And Mewtwo is an End Game Pokemon. Even when I cheated for Mewtwo and the quick level, I don't remember ever beating a Pokemon game.-
@dozzy9984
@dozzy9984 6 месяцев назад
I don't have mons that I regret catching, but I have situations where I've regretted not catching more mons (that usually ends with me overleveling everything, which makes the game boring - like I can't have just a 6 mon team, I need to do switches). But thanks to that I managed to create my own mini ruleset, that doesn't make the game boring (for me), while providing variety (and sometimes a challenge).

My first shiny encounter was a Chansey or Miltank (I don't remember which) in LeafGreen's Safari Zone, and I had no clue what a shiny Pokemon was so I freaked out and turned off the game. RIP. Inkay. I carried that thing until well over level 60 in XY. I wanted to go in partially blind so I didn't look stuff up... Couldn't figure out the method. I accidentally dropped the 2DS while I tripped over my cat and the Inkay finally evolved. I was so confused. Called my Baby Sister and she said "You turn the system upside down dumbass" and I felt like I had walked into some alternate universe. I was the one that taught her. They grow up so fast, one minute you are showing them the Mew Trick and the next they are telling you to .... I have to do what to evolve my Galarian Yamask? That is a joke, right?

So can a Pikachu transferred from Pokemon Stadium 2 still learn *SURF* ..??
@lipika2841
@lipika2841 5 месяцев назад
The most recent example of this would be in Teal Mask. We can safely say that we regret catching Ogrepon & taking it away from Kieran cuz the game doesnt give us the option w some alternate ending where we can lose to the boy & the story would still continue but differently, letting him take his beloved ogre. The consequences of which we see in the Indigo Disk where he has gone tryhard mode to get stronger & stronger, becoming the BBL champ. SV had a gr8 opportunity to give us different endings depending on what happens in the story, whether u win/lose or the dialogue options.
