I’m so glad I found your page! I am a new PM, I was given the title of PM at my last job but I very rarely did true PM work. I found a new role that requires PM skills and I feel overwhelmed. Your content has been so helpful to me and I’m hoping to start your training soon.

Great video! I have an interview today for a project manager role. I have no degree, but was highly recommended by a friend for this position. My current position is QA testing, creating bug/enhancement tickets, HTML and presenting them to the developers.

I'm glad I found this channel. I have a mentor, but they're also my manager, and I don't know how to manage that effectively. I'm a new PM. I make mistakes 3 and 5 from this video. Poor habits from my past role and lessons learned. But I've grown so much in the past year, and I'm looking forward to more.

In my company, we run different schemes, and our team is transitioning from an admin team to a PMO team. So, before starting anything, I scheduled individual meetings with the scheme’s SMEs to process map what they do and identify gaps/overlaps/ issues. Once that’s done, the plan is for my team to brainstorm solutions, which may take a while, and get started with the project planning. Do you think that’s a good approach? I’m a new PMO coordinator.

I think the one thing I struggle with with our organization is we don’t exactly have a “team” that is defined for working on projects. We have a pmo but that is only 3 project managers/coordinators. 2 qa, a group of devs, product managers for each software deliverable. But they’re all working on their own things. Not exactly on any of the on-boarding projects. It’s hard to meet pre defined timelines this way
@AdrianaGirdler

Hi Matt, yes that definitely sounds like it makes meeting pre defined timelines difficult. Thanks for sharing and watching, cheers!

I had a long discussion with the owner of the organization that hired me as a project manager about the importance of analyzing risk based on evaluating the field situation. He is a person who is too positive and tends to overlook things. Fortunately, my suggestion was accepted by other officials, and it is true, when things happen that are not desirable, everything can be directed to return to the track more easily because it has been prepared for risk mitigation. Great video Ms. Girdler!

Thx, Adriana! This is interesting that you shared this video during this time. I have a project where a specific group wants to manage the project. What I mean by that is, they have their own project plan, and I am struggling to get them to meet to the Team Charter (ways of working) doc we all put together. I'm heading in to have a quick alignment meeting (with food!) and see what I can do to get us back on track and stop double doing project tasks. It is a power struggle, IMO. However, I am treading lightly due to the fact I want to be a servant leader and not micromanage. Any tips going into this convo, I'm all ears!! Thx
@AdrianaGirdler
@AdrianaGirdler Год назад
Hi Tosha….lots to unpack here and not enough time to give a detail answer. Plus I need a few more details from you. What I can say is if a power struggle is going on find out what you are willing to give up? In the past I have had projects were teams had there own plans BUT their plan had to feed into my overall plan (not as detailed) and they need to update my plan with status every week. This may, depending on your circumstance, work for you too.

Have you considered what is negotiable and what isn’t? I like the saying, “pick your battles”. Does the team all have the same vision for the outcome of the project? Food is a good start 😊
