Hands down the best DIY video I have ever watched as the explanation was clear (non ambiguous), video organization/presentation enhanced with onscreen notes. Thank you Genius Asian - well done.

Absolutely!!! the best video out there. Very well done, and informative 👌🏼👍🏻I will be that one person always paying hundreds of dollars when ever I needed something fixed. It was alway's easier, and more convenient that way. It got to the point where I just started becoming my own handy man. I actually started to do things on my own, and realize it wasn't as difficult as I thought. I was able to do things better, and more efficient once I got to doing it. So yes, a very well detailed video like this one is alway's appreciated!! Thank you very much 🙏🙏😊

Very well made. I must be pronouncing “disposal” wrong, the whole time hearing it pronounced in such an unusual yet pleasant way made me self conscious 😅

I live in an old apartment complex. I've had several leaks coming down through the my ceiling from the apartment above, over the course of several years, as well as having experienced, gurgling and foaming toilet bowl incidences, and sudden instances of dripping faucets...out of the blue. Suffice to say, I have endured too many leaky situations over the years...to feel settled about. Consequently....from time to time, the unit above me would summon a plumber, and things would be okay for a while, then before I knew it....another leak. Most recently....I was using the kitchen garbage disposal and had the light above the sink on as well. I have never experienced anything wrong with the operation of the sink or disposal, sans brownish water and the tainting of my water faucet with white spots. All has been functional aside from those two factors. All of a sudden....the disposal stopped working and the light went out. After some research, I found that both of the outlets...on the wall of the disposal and light....were out cold, meaning, no juice at all. Even after I had toggled the GFCI buttons, and checked the breakers, which were found to be in the correct position. Nonetheless, for good measure, I toggled the breakers as well. This happened on Wednesday. Thursday, I woke up to find that 'miraculously' not only did the disposal work, but the light above the sink and the two wall outlets....were working perfectly, and I hadn't touched a thing. Today is Friday, and the only repercussion from Wednesday's incident is that the disposal is still dripping. I have a coffee can underneath to catch all. It seems to be dripping at a reasonable rate and not pouring. The day that my outlets, disposal, and lights stopped working....I could hear that the upstairs unit was undertaking some kind of plumbing fixes. Being home, and the units being old and poorly constructed...I can 'hear' lots...For instance...it often 'sounds' like the water from upstairs coming down my wall between the bathroom and the kitchen. It's very loud, and was even shocked the first time I noticed it, and took a video, just to capture the loudness of the water I could hear from the wall. With all that I have relayed........Do you think that it's possible....that the plumbing issues coming from the unit above all these years, as well as their 'attempts' to fix the plumbing....probably with non-professionals....are affecting my unit. Please respond if you can. So....my story...is not a fun story. I seem to get the brunt of leak after leak...with a not-very-responsive landlord ( the unit above) that lives out of state and has, in the past, tried to make light of the leaking issues. My feeling is that he is renting as section 8, has owned the unit for many years, and obviously....does not care too much about the leaks I have experienced....as well the huge inconvenience...time and time again. What are your thoughts...about the continuous plumbing problems, and....my recent incident with the garbage disposal.....et al?????? Thanks so much...if you have a clue!!!!

if you want to know how the people above you may affect you, you need to isolate the variables. High level first: 1. electrical: do you share the same electrical circuit? Usually not if you have different meters and breakers then they are separate unless someone is poor and wanted to steal electricity from you. 2. if not shared, but both of your circuits are connected to the same main breaker, if their circuit breaker is broken and they don't want to buy a new one, they shorted their breaker so that their appliance can overloaded the main circuit, in that case once the main circuit is off, you are off. 3. you could share some main sewer pipes, if they managed to flush some thing to clog the shared main sewer pipe and your stuff will be blocked.

My man, the Genius Asian!! 😀🙏🏽You are definitely one of the best videos/tutorials I’ve seen on RU-vid. You pretty much covered every possible part of the garbage disposal. Your narrator is awesome 👏🏼 You two make a great combo. Can’t wait to see more diy videos from you guys. One quick question 🙋🏻‍♂️ what could be the problem when I connect my garbage disposal and it sparks up 🔥 on the outlet itself? Could there be some loose wires on the inside that’s causing it? Thanks in advance. Keep doing these awesome videos.,❤‘m. 🫡God bless 🙏🏼

In my research on RU-vid , I'm learning more about the O Ring and the motor seal and how these get holes or cracks, but: Would getting a stainless steel unit in any way protect the garbage disposal from the effects of hot water? (especially the O Ring and the motor seal) I think ''hot'' water that is also ''hard water'' in Las Vegas is the reason why I only get about 3 years out of my garbage disposals that use galvanized parts, and I heard stainless steel is better, but how is that better if in my case where I live it's the O Rings and Motor seals that are the weakest points ?

Fellow commenters, Disposall is a GE model name. She’s using “disposall” like Americans might use “kleenex” or “band-aid”

yes, the right tool is important, but if someone only has to deal with this problem every 10 years, then finding a sub-optimal solution reduce the time you drive to the store and save you money as well. Thank you for taking the time to chime in.

this is such a designed failure point... they could've used stainless steel instead of steel with coat of paint that wear out just when warranty ran out

great video but you are saying disposal like "dispose all" never dispose all material lol From merriam-webster: Disposal - systematic destruction especially : destruction or transformation of garbage trash disposal the disposal of nuclear waste [garbage disposal unit] : a device used to reduce waste matter (as by grinding) putting food scraps down the disposal
