I’ve been carrying a Classic in my pocket since I was in middle school, that’s approximately 42 years. My dad bought me the first one- then, I continued to buy more in different colors and designs. Currently, I’m carrying the alox version and love how thin it is. And yes, I carry other knives, too, but the Classic is always in my pocket.

@@josephascroft4774 Thanks brother. Sounds like you have quite a collection there. Do you carry a larger knife or SAK as well? I usually pair my 58mm SAKs with the Pioneer X, Bantam Alox or my Spyderco UKPK. For larger cutting tasks such as cutting up fruit or breaking boxes down.

Good video. Also, the combo tool is magnetic, so, you can pickup screws and the pen on the Midnight Manager is pressurized, so, you can write upside down. (and it never fails; BTW, with the light, and pen you can write checks at midnight, in dark places, if you have to)

In my experience most 5th pockets can comfortably hold Victorinox knives up to 84 mm, like the Cadet and Sportsman. For cutting apples these are way better suited that the 58 mm models. Still I always carry the sadly discontinued Manager on my keyring, which gets used multiple times a day. Great knive!
@MB_EDC

@@Luuk_M Agreed. To me that's an excuse to need two SAKs!!! I carry (and use) the Midnite Manager every day. Supplemented by another SAK (Pioneer X, Army 7 or Farmer X) or a single blade folder liker the Spyderco UKPK

My favourite is the Signature, basically a Classic with pen scales. It lives with my keys everywhere. The small scissors are great to trim nails and everything else is like a backup that can easily do as primary tools if i need so. I advocate everyone to have a 58mm in his keychain. Cheers!

I prefer to carry the Signature. You won't notice that you have it but you always carry a second small emergency blade, a scissors and a pen. The pen is the main reason to choose the signature because you hardly even need one, but when you do then it is always really important that you have it with you and regular pens are too long to carry in a jeans.
@MB_EDC

I have carried a SAK Executive 58 mm for over 50 years. Bought my first one in Geneva, Switzerland about 1970. It is a two layer knife with a small blade, large blade, scissors, nail file (point at end works as a Phillips screwdriver), and the rather strange orange peeler with a useful flat blade screwdriver on the end. It has the ubiquitous tweezers and toothpick and the split ring attachment. I replaced the toothpick with a Firefly Ferocerium rod as a firestarter. Unfortunately, Victorinox has discontinued the Executive. Over the decades I have broken several knives with improper use. Thankfully, I saved the four broken knives and recently learned that Victorinox will repair and restore all models, current and discontinued, to new specs for basically the cost of return mailing. So, now I have several like new Executive models, even though that model has been discontinued.

I did put an SD in my med kit for outdoors when I didn't intend to take a bigger SAK with tweezers with me. The tweezers and smaller blade is a good thorn/splinter removal combo which is the main first aid need by far. Mines a Wenger SD so it's gone into semi retirement and I need to get a Victorinox to replace it. Don't know why I do that with the discontinued models, id never sell them and you only live once.

I got my first SAK in 1969. I've carried the tinker, hiker, pioneer, my old Wenger SI, recruit, waiter, and bantam. They were all good, but I never thought about the 58mm's. I thought they were so small, they were a joke. Well, the joke was on me. My wife got me one in 1996, and I started to use it as an experiment. I thought it would self destruct. I was soooo wrong! Since then I've learned that the 58mm SAK's are a seriously capable EDC for most urban and suburban environments. No, its n to for taking out enemy sentries or surviving the Alaskan wilderness, but it opens packages, and opens mail, cuts cardboard, string, plastic wrapping, with ease. I use my classic SD at least a couple times a day for something. Even the tweezers get out stickers from between my dogs paw pads. My knife nut days are long gone, and now I only carry a Vic classic and I'm fine.

@@MB_EDC IMHO the MiniChamps are the best things Victorinox ever produced, extremely practical and easy to carry. The ordinary one with the Cellidor scales is maybe the best survival tool one can get. Yet the Alox model is my favourite because I carry usually also a bigger model (like the Walker or the Huntsman) with me when I'm out, as well as a torch (since years the Nitecore Tini2). So all my ordinary daily needs are fully satisfied 🤣 Of course, everybody has different needs and use scenarios, so it is just what I prefer.
