Yea that's crazy Idk how high they rev, I'm more of a bike guy but I had the same when I was riding around with my friend, him on his cbr 600, he was next to me in i guess second gear, going like 80km/h, revs were high, then he just dropped a gear, his bike screamed higher than you can imagine, and he just flew past lol
@@krisztianromer433 - it's not just "Revs". It's simply that there are (apparently) 6 rotors X 3 chambers per rotor = 18. However there is gear reduction so the rotors only actually fire once each per crankshaft (eccentric shaft) revolution. This means that a 6 rotor sounds like a 12 cylinder 4-stroke piston engine at the same crankshaft revs.
@@Tony11442 I just did the math, a 6 rotor would would hypothetically sound like an i12 which sounds like an i6 but an octave higher, so when 9000rpm in an i6 gives the A4 note, 6 rotor revs at an octave higher at A5.
@@justkev1044 - absolutely correct. Same ignition pulses as a i12. It wouldn't be revving all that high anyway, as a 6-rotor needs a special eccentric shaft. Maybe 9,000rpm max (although that is still heaps)
@@toxicmasculinity7870more rotors means a longer eccentric shaft with different resonant points. It's quite possible that it actually doesn't break 8k rpm, depending on the material they make the shaft out of because too much will shatter it. Plus, six rotors means essentially eighteen combustion chambers firing so it sounds higher pitched than a two or three rotor at the same revolution.
@@theflashoflife8088 idk about insanely fast lol more like dissapointingly slow from what ive seen as I have followed the project from the start. Still needs a lot of work.
@@hydraboss1208 Mazda just created a rotary range extender, it's a bigger single rotor. I would assume that a rotary based performance parts company like pac or others that are building parts will eventually manufacture a center iron/ e shafts/ bell housing adaptor & stack a few of these rew rotors as a custom powerplant. The future holds an interesting story for the rotary engine in my eyes.
no way... i was at this event, 4 and rotary at mannfeild raceway, had a long conversation with the dude who built the lightning mcqueen rx7, it has 650 hp, that 6 rotor had about 750-800, that 6 rotor sounds even better in person.
This probably one of the first videos I've ever seen of these things rolling. Usually they are on a rack with somebody working on them. They sound amazing
i think for us asian car guys, we're getting ourselves that one jdm we'd like to keep forever. ive gottem myself an evo 3. like u said, we're never going to hear these kind of beauty again in the next 15 years.
My spine is tingling… every hair on my epidermis is completely standing straight. Moment of silence for my lost future generations after playing this video😔
