While shopping at an outdoor market, young reporter Tintin (Jamie Bell), accompanied by his faithful dog, Snowy, buys a model of an old ship called the Unicorn. A shady character named Sakharine (Daniel Craig) and later an American named Barnaby (Joe Starr) try to buy the model from him, but Tintin refuses. The lad discovers that the ship contains a clue about a hidden treasure, but before he can locate it, Tintin is kidnapped and given over to the custody of drunken Capt. Haddock

Well said, I think the only reason this movie is underrated is because it came out a few years before video games started to look this good/better. I don’t think we were ready for it. If this movie came out in 2021 I think it would have done really well and the sequel would already be in production

On a technical scale, this film is well made. As far as adapting the source material, I think it fails. I’ve been reading Tintin since I was a child, and when this film came out I had high hopes because Spielberg intended on meeting with Herge before he passed. The film shoehorns three different books together, butchering the plot and favoring action over mystery. I will say I might be biased because I would say “Secret of the Unicom” is my least favorite book. The moment Captain Haddock pulled out a bazooka, I started cursing Spielberg “THIS IS NOT INDIANA JONES!” I believe they intended on adapting “The Seven Crystal Balls” and “Prisoners of the Sun” with Peter Jackson directing. Much better books to adapt. Unfortunately my favorite books are too mature or obscure to adapt for the intended target audience. “Flight 714” “The Red Sea Sharks” “The Broken Ear” “Cigars of the Pharaoh” “The Blue Lotus”

It's made by Weta Animation Studios. No wonder it looks realistic. They're all God-handed animators. Like Lord of The Rings, Ringo, Alita Battle Angel.

I had a faint memory of Tin Tin being somewhat of a badass on the cartoon back in the day. Beating up thugs twice his size and just having skills someone of his stature and profession shouldn’t possess....this part confirmed this to be true I guess lol.

I put this movie to the side for such a long time until a few months ago. I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of passion and work, gone into the film. It's one of my favourite movies now and It deserves more love. with spielberg in the directors chair, john williams on the score and edgar wright as a writer...you can't go wrong. then you have the cast, my goodness! jamie bell, andy sircus, daniel craig, simon pegg and nick frost are incredible!

They don't have their gun aimed at him so he has a window of opertunity as any sudden movements to take a shot at tintin will result in the plot getting shot if tintin had bullets(even tho it's a bluff) the pilots have 2 options make a bad move and get shot or surrender. Because all they know it's tintins gun is loaded

He always taught me how to exploit people's reaction speed (and how to avoid having yours exploited too). Dart gun fights as a kid were usually accompanied by lectures about quick peaks, quick draws, and hiding in places where nobody would look (aiming over the top of an open door in a hallway is one that always got me). Good memories...

In the early 1980's my dad would take me and my brother to his brothers house my aunt and uncle Joe and Rachel's. My dad and uncles would watch IU football or basketball whichever season it was and either my aunt Rachel at my uncle Joe had set out a huge stack of Tin Tin books. I was 8 years old or thereabouts and didn't have any interest in watching sports so reading those was great. Otherwise I would have been bored out of my mind..I loved those comics. They were originals from the 40's and 50's. I loved those books and I had forgotten about Tin Tin until this movie came out. They are wonderful and I think I might start collecting the books. A perfect present for boys who like to read. Pretty rare nowadays I guess.

When it was first aired on GMA, that was also the very first time it was seen on TV. that's why I'm so sorry because I didn't watch it in its entirety so I don't know the whole story. I was also very sad because when I arrived it was over. I can only watch it here on youtube but it's not one after the other and another one is not even complete. so if this show ever airs again on GMA, I will really do it.

Rendering in 2009 and released the movie in 2011. Spielberg said the movie supposed to came out in 2009 but it wasn't finished yet and needed more time.
