Hi, Just messaging on a random video. We just brought home our 8 week old Aussiedoodle. His mom is 30lbs, Dad is 60lbs. He is currently 6 lbs at 8 weeks (give or take a day, or fraction of a pound) I have watched a ton of your videos. I have a trainer i will be working with. I got pup to help with my 7 yr old autistic son. ..they say herding breeds are bad, but I need a pup who is fast, agile, and can keep up. Some herders have said he will be great, some herders have said it is a terrible idea…just hoping to pick your brain. Today is day 1. Dog loves everyone, but is becoming velcro to me. All my boys love him, but my shaner is least intrusive, and will forgo things he loves if there are obstacles (like brothers) in the way. Would loge to hear more on journey of service/ therapy dog journey

First, congrats on the new puppy :)! I actually think it’s a great idea as herding dogs are working dogs, meaning they’ll do well because they love a job. Aussiedoodles are very very intelligent dogs. I’m glad you and the dog will be working with a trainer, the earlier the better. My one piece of advice is to stick with the trainer or training even up to after a year. Consistency is key to excelling at any job for these dogs whether that’s an actual service task or simple command. If you haven’t already, join our Facebook group (link in description) as others have had similar questions and helped each other out :)
