Bless you Nick!! Was recently diagnosed with Parkinson's, after years of going to the gym & eating healthy & drinking at least 4 litres of water everyday!! You just never know what is round the corner, I genuinely believe our Mindset plays a massive part of how we function, was told many years ago nobody is promised tomorrow!! So True, Peace From London!! 🙏🙏🙏
Nick, you're right on every aspects of the subject of enjoying life and to live longer. I totally agree with you there immensely - especially after seeing individuals and relatives contending with health issues over time and seeing their mobility slowly ebbing away whilst losing their quality of life. Thanks for your intuitive video Nick.🙏 Thank you!
I'm a bit younger than you at 48 but everything you say is just a relevant to me. Your message is all about getting our heads out of our arse and realising there isn't long left.
Really love your videos Nick, I think I've watched nearly all of them now and they are a goldmine of knowledge and ideas. So just wanted to thank you for taking the time in your retirement to help others planning theirs for a great future ahead.
That was a refreshing listen, because that is almost spot on to how I feel. Outlook and taking control with a positive strategy. It all makes perfect sense. I live in London. I am 62 and there’s so much for me to do and I love the city and its history. The thing that I don’t understand is why many cannot seem to find the courage to be who they wish to be. I often think that certain types of humanity don’t wish to be freed? Thank you for sharing. I believe you are helping many others.
100% with your strength work. I'm a cycling coach and most of the blokes I coach are over 40. I'm trying to push them all into weight training not necessarily to make them faster cyclists but healthy humans. I know so many old cyclists who are fit but a mess because literally everything but they're quads have wasted away. The term is sarcopenia as you say and it should be up there with cancer and heart disease as the big game changers for the elderly
Success is not built on success. It's built on failure, It's built on frustration. it's built on fear that you have to overcome. I pray that anyone who reads this will be successful in Life
My main pastime is playing Picklball, Badminton, Racket Ball and Beach Paddle almost every day of the week. Plus swim and run quite often too. Oh and weights as well. As for diet, try and keep away from all processed foods, don’t have breakfast 3 times a week. I’m 72 6ft and 74kilos! Seems to be working 😊
I am still in the process of getting myself into a healthy routine to try and remain active and capable of looking after myself over the next few years. Both of my parents passed away at only 70, so at 69 the warning bells are ringing in my ears to avoid doing the same. Life is what you make it, but if you just sit watching TV or RU-vid all day with little exercise then it is more than likely to be a short one. Fingers crossed that i can get my act togeather and get past 70 .
Sleep well do you? Wait until your Prostate plays up. Something to look forward too. LOL Keep up the motivational videos and exercise. I bicycle, motorcycle and do light weights but do not attend a gym. Like rubber band and stretching and isometric exercises uses own muscles. 69 now near 70 and way fitter than my father and grandfather at this age. Totally cut out alcohol when prostate issues arose and have saved money, mental and physical health by cutting out that toxin intake. Cheers from Australia.
Lovely place to live, I love visiting there, I agree with the sleeping, I've found I sleep more now, I don't get up until about 930, I am not one to get up early, unless I have something planned
Nick, my Mother is 88 and I think she has regrets in life and seems to to take it off on us, her kids. But it's not our fault, we didn't choose to be born, so hopefully at the end of her life, she won't be confrontational and accepts her life (good or bad) for what it is and has been
We have to ACCEPT the fact that one day our spouse will leave us and we'll be alone. That's not a bad thing. It's part of life. Be mentally prepared for it and continue to live a happy, healthy life.
I don’t know if you’ve answered this in a previous video but do you have any regrets of moving to a city? It’s something I’ve considered in my retirement but I also enjoy my quiet village life but facilities are not close by.
No regrets. It’s a different way of life with pluses and minuses. Pluses: convenience of cinema, theatre, shops, travel, restaurants, cafes, doctor etc. The minuses: crowds, air quality, parking, privacy.
I'm 79, been retired for twenty years, cycle, hike or ski just about every day depending on the weather - not today though it's been pouring down. My take is plenty of vigorous exercise, we cycle in the mountains up to 15% gradients which really gets the breathing and muscles complaining, but maximum effort exercise. Mental exercise is also important, I enjoy 3D computer modelling and animation, making videos, also improving my French, we live in Switzerland, by watching programs on youtube. That's probably as important as physical. Diet, we eat only single ingredient foods - fruit, meat, vegetables, dairy products - meat usually two or three times a week and fairly lean. We don't often go to restaurants but when we do we only go to those which prepare food from scratch. We drink too much wine but only with dinner and so far it hasn't affected us. Seems to be working, I'm a short stout Yorkshire guy and no natural athlete - never won an athletics prize or been picked for a sports team in my life but my wife and I love exercise even though we are not gifted in that direction.
For me, 6pm if It’s breakfast, dinner, tea that day. But if it’s breakfast, lunch, dinner then 3pm as a mid afternoon break. Confusing Britishisms, eh?
I agree that you keep moving it’s good for the body and the mind but also 100% strength training to keep your muscles functional and strong especially as you get older I have trained for 40 years + im 58 I feel 40 and am still in very good shape but it’s not about aesthetics I’m retired now it’s amazing how many people don’t understand this ,training is good for basic functional strength, helps with cognitive ability endorphins help with your mental Heath and general health I will never stop to help keep me functional and in better general health .Good video
It might not be a popular opinion but I think you should have retired as soon as your business enabled you to. The earlier the better. thanks for the video
