What I find is that men want to bombard you with text messages (which I hate). I don't want to date my phone. This really turns me off, it ruins anything I felt for that man. I move on. Men have no self restraint to wait until we meet again in person to talk about whatever it was. It's such a turn off. Even on dating sites, all the messages, I hate it. (I've been in therapy for almost 20 years, but dating my phone just is not where I want to be, no thank you). Maybe I'm too present :)

I keep finding that no matter how much healing I do, there is some healing that only arises once I get into a caring relationship...when the walls come down.

I took a break from dating in order to heal and once I got back out there, I was saddened to hear men be so critical of my taking a break. They were more focused on the break from a sexual standpoint rather than healing which was an indicator to me what mental frequency they were on. Needless to say I haven't found my match yet.

My ex deliberately hurt me, he enjoyed it so I don’t agree that people are inherently good. He was diagnosed with a personality over thirty years ago. I found that fascinating, there was no discussion about that years ago so that therapist was very perceptive. When I asked the ex what he did about it he flippantly said “Nothing, I didn’t agree with him”. No desire to change or look within, he just carried on ruining people’s life’s. He was Borderline and Anti Social. Yikes! What a combo, worse than any narcissist I’ve been around. He changed me, I’m much more cynical and suspicious now. Be careful out there. The older users get, the better they are at manipulating.

I disagree to a point. Yes, most people are inherently good, but some people DO use other people and some DO intentionally hurt others - they have Narcissistic Personality Disorder. We have begun to use the word narcissist too loosely and emotionally immature people will typically have narcissistic TENDENCIES - much like a child is naturally somehwhat narcissistic - but a true NPD is someone to learn to recognize and stay away from

Hi Jonathan, I have a friend of 34 years. We are both Avoidants and our relationship of love and friendship works for us. He looked at me with love in his eyes until recently, when his mother passed. I'm wondering if his spark will ever come back. He is a beautiful person but I do not know if he has changed from this experience, forever. It has been a year since her passing. It seems lately you seem to get judgemental about women, and attitudes of women. We all have things to work on. I'm a healthy wonderful person who is working on herself before I get in any new relationships. I'm working on better boundaries, better communication skills, and feeling realistic without as much cynicism. This is hard work. I feel parts avoidant and anxious about life in general.

To me excitement comes before you meet in person. I'm online dating so it's different. But I see men expecting excitement but that's cultivated! It varies. Yeah but when you get a certain age like 55 to 65 you start getting resting b**** face even when you don't mean it and even when your not bad. I used to ask my grandma who had really bad resting b**** face I used to say grandma are you mad and she look at me and say no why and I said you look like you're mad. You just start to get jowls and stuff like that oh well I guess I'm doomed.

I've got the opposite problem I think it's really good but it could probably put some guys off and that I love a lot of my old boyfriends I cherish them and I think they were great guys and great men and I'll often talk about him and say well so and so would have made a really good husband he was great I'm still friends with him. I admire him for this or that there's a lot of bad guys bad boyfriends but the ones I was really serious about the ones I would have considered for marriage oh they turned out to be really great guys just there were problems that you know like being too young and not being finished with college that really screwed things up for marriage with me but I still can't help it some of these men I just adore and a couple of them are happily married for very long time still married to them. So I think hey look I was right these guys were great they would have made great husbands my taste was spot on.
