I have a stock 73 1999. Looking to add a little horsepower to tow my RV toy hauler. What do you recommend ? is it possible to gain boost with a stock turbo by adjusting the arm. Watching videos I am not convinced that really works.
I’m in the middle of my tear down right now. I’m doing studs, valves, pushrods, have a 364.5sxe t4 turbo setup, did all new seals and oil pan last week, redoing oil cooler tomorrrow, bought all new sensors, irate e fuel, John woods towmaster transmission, 6.0 trans cooler, still need to buy Adrenaline HPOP, pick injector size (thinking full force) and I’m going to do injector cups while I’m in there. Also got my computer flashed and checked and going to run a hydra chip with tunes. Probably some other stuff I’m missing. Shop is a mess. 1996 ccsb. Like your videos tho man good stuff. Hoping my truck will be a strong 400-450 hp with no issues. Doing all this at 194000 miles an truck was babied before I got it.
Love your videos man and the obs is awesome. I have a 97 extra can with a flatbed on it. Just Bolton's right now, D/P, 4 inch exhaust, afe intake, ts chip, and is now in the transmission shop. Billet to triple disc with John woods valve body and complete rebuild getting done. H-pop, injectors, wicked wheel2 is next.
Got my 1996 a month ago in the Kingman area. It had been off the road for 10 years. Replaced one injector and the cam sensor and it runs great and even drives better after replacing the E4OD transmission. 214600 miles and it runs great. Super chips tuner but otherwise all stock. Don’t know how add a pic of it or I would.
on my truck i have a 4inch cold air intake, 160cc stock flow full force diesel injectors, a ts 6 pos switch, straight pip w/ 3 inch down pipe, to a 4 inch exhaust and a basicaly rebuilt motor.
Good video as always! My truck has: 160/0 injectors build by myself 4” exhaust KC turbos rebuild kit Custom electronic fuel system Custom water injection Valair 13” ceramic clutch. Soon I will be getting a CNC stage 2 Hpop. Also I have plans to build a set of 250/200s for my truck after all my supporting mods are done. Check out bitterroot diesel if you ever plan on building your own injectors.
It helps a lot when pulling heavy loads. The set up is just a AEM water injection pump and 300psi rated water line for a refrigerator from home depot. The pump is run off a pressure switch that I have set to 15psi. The hardest part is finding a nozzle that is the right size. I have a 800ml/m in mine right now.
Another good turbo option is there is a company making a compound turbo kit that uses a bolt on obs turbo to spool a t4 turbo thats the option im doing with my 7.3 good informational video and good recommendations on upgrades personally i think first upgrades should be exhaust guages tuner then e fuel, intercooler, hpop turbo then injectors the more that can be done at once the better personally im a big fan of getting bigger injectors than u need then having them tuned down till u can upgrade everything to match thats what i did on my 97 im probably putting down close to 450 to 500 with 230/100 injectors 17° hpop e fuel hydra chip 4 inch exhaust 140 volt idm mod built auto trans with billet torque converter and hayden trans cooler soon adding 6.0 intercooler and bigger turbo and deleted pedestal and maybe doing a compound turbo kit
Name of the company is Vavriania Fabricatons its a smaller company out of Colorado and the other good thing about getting into the bigger injectors too is if u get into the 200 series when u get into hybrid injectors they use less oil and preform all around better than the 160 and 180 series injectors personally i wish i had bumped up to a 250/200 injector myself but u work with what u can afford to do when i build another 7.3 engine i may bump up a few sizes another good power adder is a cam gives u more of a torque curve and better turbo spool and some claim better milage too and up to a stage 2 cam will work with stock internals
Honestly a high hp manual would be fun just would have to have a dual or triple disk clutch personally on mine i want to eventually swap a allison 1000 six speed auto into mine so i can have better mileage and im hopeing this summer i am busy enough to afford a compound turbo kit for mine i personally think it would be perfect for hauling and daily driving
From my personal experience the zf5 and zf6 are similar strengths in stock forms i bet there are probably people who can beef either up to hold lots of power but what i see that screws them up the fastest is people who dont shift them right and grind gears and try to speed shift or ones who rev match bc the syncros are the first to go then typically 2nd reverse and 3rd
Just picked up a 1996 Ford XLT F-250 XCLB, for $4,500.00 runs great. Has a 5.9 Cummings.1Gen-12 Valve, Has the original Ford transmission, planning on pulling heavy loads, should I change it out? And if so what do you recommend.. I agree people, Pick up your TRASH!!!!. Or I will call A.J.
Alright I'm following your lead on this one I have a 1994 Ford F350 and I have bought three and a half inch exhaust the TS performance chip the KC Turbo the intercooler the fast fuel system the next step is the injectors everything sitting in a box in my computer room right now ready to be installed I just don't know what injectors to go with I also bought the turbo cooler I don't want to have to change out my oil pump what's a good price for injectors and what injectors would you say to go with weave me a link and I'll go by
@@blowingdiesel what do you think I should put on the up pipe what type of brand so I broke a bolt and since I've already done that I might as well replace it from the headers up I mean there's a thousand of them out there I just don't know what brand and what I should put on there I don't want to dump a bunch of money on something that's not going to help me let me know what Brandon you think I should put on there I don't mind spending the money if it's going to do something good somebody told me Billet but I'm not 100% sure so
with stock fuel pumps you can go as high as 180cc stock flow with a chip and not have to replace any of the fuel system but once you go above that you will need to get a bigger hpop and fuel pump so it can handle the larger injectors.
@@blowingdiesel very true and i plan on e fuel upgrade at some point but im already $12k into this truck itll be later haha but for those like me who cant afford the w fuel just yet its good info.
928 OBS Cool, I actually came across a complete e99 setup locally for cheap cheap so I’ll be modifying that as needed and watching your videos on your install. 👍🏻 Anything you would’ve done differently looking back on it?
Don’t know if I had mentioned it in my other comments but I will say if it was me and I planned on stepping up turbo from urs I’d go with a s300 series charger I know it’s more work but me and my brother diy built a t4 setup on his truck he’s now running a s369sxe and stage ones and 17hpop with plans to step up to 238/100 but wow the turbo made a huge difference in my personal opinion. Lots of guys are having trouble with the kc38rs clearing up smoke and high egts
I would do it. my buddy went to a t4 setup, s366, 160/80 injectors, intercooler, Adrenaline hpop on a stock 02 motor in his 96. it made 502hp on the dyno in Denver.
No one talks about building your transmission, let's put it simple once you change just the stock down pipe to the aftermarket the heat shield its gone then your fill tube, your oil cooler lines all around that area will increase heat dramatically.the stock transmission and torque converter sucks @ 30 HP the trans shift super hard...upgrade your trans put a 5R110 protorque multi clutch..and proceed to the 1000s HP
I agree with everything but the e fuel! Too expensive and you’ll never need it if ur not gonna go over 30/180 injectors, and if you go more then that you’ll blow ur engine!!
