I really kind of have to disagree with this list. Green tea is known for one of the best digestion aides. My grandmother would always eat fruit after breakfast. She’s +100 years old.

Red or white wine helps but first have your 8 to 12 ounce hot drink with the high animal fat meal then wine after. A vegan or vegetarian meal is not nearly as crucial to have a hot drink with and can be optional but recommended.

I don't smoke cigarettes, and never have as a habit. I often eat while reclining, but seldom sleep. I don't shower after meals, but before. I drink iced tea for refreshment. Before I eat. I eat fruit when I can. I drink cold water when I must. Working outdoors in Florida is dangerous. Can be fatal. Cold water can rapidly lower your core temperature and possibly save your life. These are great tips for rookies and folks who spend most of their lives indoors. But for a veteran tree care worker, like myself? Please. Back to the drawing board.:)

I think the one about if you have to smoke, do it before not after meals could well be true. As for lying down after a meal - you have to, if you are in hospital!! :) And as for the no tea thing... We Brits drink tea ALL THE TIME. Still, maybe the iron thing is why an after-meal coffee is customary in restaurants?? The thing about not eating fruit and veg (salad?)after a meal is just trash... Because it will "spoil"? What about the many main dishes which contain fruit or vegetable?? Actually the main caveat you *didn't* mention, was not to swim for a few hours after any kind of substantial meal. Digestion does use a lot of blood supply.

The tea one is interesting. There are lots of people who drink tea during the meal. Wonder if it's the same for cold tea versus hot tea. I usually try and drink water 30 minutes before eating.

Some of that is true. Well for me. I have gastroparesis. My food doesn't digest like a normal person. Room temperature drinks especially water helps digest food. Lying down after eating is a no no for me. I cheat sometimes. My doctor and nutritionist didn't say anything to me about that other crazy stuff. Eating red meat isn't good for anyone and very hard to digest. I had to completely change my diet. I don't always like it but at least I'm eating healthy and lost alot of weight. The body is an amazing thing.

Remember that your body can only do one thing at a time so showering and eating is a no no if you expect your food to be fully digested. 4. If you're gonna have tea, skip the crumpets. 5. The order of which you eat your food is not to be understated, remember the food pyramid, top to bottom and right to left when eating. 6. Drink warm or hot liquid with a meal and make sure its not tea either. And an additional step 7 : Remember not to chew your food completely before swallowing as this will actually increase the risk of choking

After a long work shift and barely eating, it’s only natural to feel sleepy after a meal like so many here already say they do. Personally I try to distract myself unless I am exhausted. Still, if I can’t then surely sleeping while you are leaning up is not so bad as laying down? Sure, it is still some pressure on your body, but the stomach acid remains in its rightful place. It just takes a little longer to digest?
