Long distance relationships also known as LDR's is when two people are dating from across a distance. This can be continents apart. Someone you meet online, but happens to be living really far from you. In this video, we want to share some tips on how to maintain a long distance relationship. I’m in a long distance relationship while attending Med school. One of the most important elements of a successful relationship is that you need to be physically and emotionally well yourself rather than relying on your partner for love and attention to heal. You need two whole pieces to make a full piece of love.

from someone who has been in a long distance relationship i may give u some tips: 1-Yes u can love someone even if u didn't see him in real life and are apart(not everyone tho) 2-don't be too harsh on them 3-Make time for each other and understand each others routine 4-give him/her love and affection and care 5-Don't let jealousy come between u too 6- Don't blame him/her that they are far away 7- when u meet tell them that u are in love with them.( When he did i felt relieved that my personnality didnt change between phone and real life) 8-Give each other a gift that he/she can wear everyday or look at everyday (jewelery/key chain/a parfume etc) 9-He/she got feelings too and he/she get the same doubt as you from time to time 10-Think about the future..where u both will ne finally together and plan it with each other it will give both of you confort SENDING ALL MY LOVE TO YOU GUYS AND REAL LOVE ALWAYS WIN

I'm in a long-distance relationship for nearly three years now, and let me tell you something: it's tough at times. People around me are surprised that I only get to meet him a few times in a year. The three things that work for us: insane amounts of communication, effort and patience. I've definitely become a lot more secure, understanding and appreciative over the years. He's changed me for the better, LOL. Never give up on each other no matter what, it's always worth it in the end. ❤️👫

I’m in a distant relationship as well, it’s not easy I won’t lie, especially with insecurities. But the one thing I can say to make it better for someone reading this, is look at the small details about your partner. Know them very well so that if something happens you don’t always assume the worst.

I think the best advice really is to have your own life and to find a partner who's passionate about theirs as well. Me and my partner are busy with our lives that whenever we get to talk we spend so much time because we know we love each other and are not obsessed with spending all day with each other because we prioritize ourselves too. If you treat your partner as a desert for your efforts and not your main course or appetizer, life changes so much. You can be straight forward with them and also not strangle them with expectations because that also ruins relationships. Once you expect someone to act a certain way to your favour and not based on facts it'll just destroy them because you didn't try to understand so you're just in a relationship with you the image in your head.

Ik this too well...Me and my LDR gf wanted to meet already like 5 times. Everytime she said things like ,,Something popped out" or ,,I forgot that...". I didn't go camping with a group of friends so we can meet and I was already on my way to where we planned to meet and suddenly she just texted me that she got grounded for supporting the pride parade. A week later she said that she couldn't come since she was at a hospital...so she lied to me. I have constant anxiety cause I think that maybe I'm not good enough for her

Being in a LDR is tough, but doable. I'm now 2 years in one. Just the thought of how far we have come is motivation enough to look forward to many more memories. I'm currently in a long distance relationship and we just celebrated our 8th monthsary (virtual sadly) and everyday our relationship just keeps getting stronger. There are times that we argue but that's normal actually. The 3 top things we have to do in order to keep our relationship is by having the U.R.L. U- understanding If one doesn't have understanding then the relationship will go crazy and fall. R- respect Of course we have this, respect is really important (everybody probably knows why) L- love This is the reason why two people stayed together despite of any boundaries you are facing such as distance.

I've been in a long-distance relationship for 10 years. And all I have to say is Please Communicate your feelings. it's hard, but make it fun by playing couple quiz games like lovify. It kept our conversations interesting, especially on boring days. Never stop trying. Things will take time, but they'll work out in the end :)

Me and my gf are in a LDR since a year and 3 months now...but 1. She didn't even give me an adress to where I can send her a gift 2. That's easy since we live in the same country, but different parts 3.I try not to, but she lied to me a lot of times 4.I try to talk with her but she always wants to rp. 5. My boyfriend and I of almost 3 years have only been long distance for two weeks and he's coming back this weekend because the transition into college has been especially difficult for him and he's been having some doubts about the relationship because he's so stressed out. Being in an LDR on this pandemic is so frustrating. Me and my boyfriend hadn't meet each other since we started because of the borders not opening for them to get inside our country. currently in the same situation :(( we've been together for 8 months now and i am still hoping and wishing for the day that we will eventually meet irl will come as soon as possible.. it's so stressful to think about the future and it just made both of us insecure, asking questions like how much time do we have to face before meeting in person 😭 but we are working through it and we are hopeful to see each other once the pandemic dies down a bit and when there are very little travel restrictions.. i just don't want to be so old when i finally get to see him..

One tip: treat it like a real relationship at all times. Because it is. She's not just the person you have Skype dates with and then get back to your real life. She's a part of your real life. Talking to her, doing things with her (virtual), treat them as if she's there with you. Because emotionally she is, and you should be too. You're friends, family, colleagues, strangers should all know about her like she can walk into the room at anytime. My long distance relationship is tough, but I'm happy. And so is she. One thing my boyfriend and I do is plan video chat dates and share the same meal but cooked our own unique ways. Then we surprise each other with how creative we got. It doesn't have to be prepared the exact same way--you could each add your own personal flare to it, and surprise each other with your creativity and ingenuity. You could even make completely different meals, and impress each other with your particular expertise. It is one way you can learn about the abilities and preferences of the other person, and have fun doing it. 😊

Key thing is communication. My partner and I have 1 scheduled phonecall a week where we only talk about our feelings and/or concerns that we may be having, decisions that may affect the other, etc etc. Then we have spontaneous phone calls during the week where we just talk about anything from our day at work to the dog next door. We do this because we found that when we didnt, we would be hiding the "heavy feelings" from each other cause we didn't want to ruin our phonecalls by making them sad and have the other person worry. Of course thats sprinkled w morning/hope your having a good day/miss you/thinking bout you etc texts in between

These are some great tips and I was doing this even before finding this video. Honestly me and my BF got even more bonded and closer together with long distance then what we would've if we dated regularly. Bcs we have an honest relationship and I can always tell him if something is bothering me or if I'd like him to put in more effort and he actually listens. So when we do meet and see each other in person it won't be awkward cus we've talked for so long now and basically know everything about each other. The only thing that's really hard is sometimes I feel lonely and really wanna be in his arms but he's far away but I know we will be together for good one day. It is our destiny.

I’ve been in a LDR for about a year and some months. My first time meeting him my heart nearly skipped a beat because I knew and felt like I had met my best friend/true love. I honestly don’t have a problem with it me and my partner actually have came to an conclusion it is and will help us grow. We definitely try to see one another when we can which is helpful but when we separate we miss one another like crazy. I’ve had negative people in my ear about things but I know him and he knows me. What I’m basically saying is love on your person and continue to stand strong ❤️

When my boyfriend last visited, he gave me a necklace. I wear it every day and even sleep in it, and when I stress, I fiddle with it and it calms me down because I feel physically closer to him. I have him my most valuable stuffed animal, a purple stuffed leopard that has a pouch of lavender for stress relief. It was a gift from my grandparents when I went through a major surgery last summer. It comforted me, and now it comforts him! I even sprayed it with my perfume for an extra touch which he loved. I miss him so so much, but I find comfort in knowing that I’ll see him again soon. Actually, I see him at the end of December, and I’m super excited!

I'm in a long distance relationship and he lives all the way in new Jersey I'm a Brit so there is a 5 hr difference which kills us both. funny thing, my best friend has been in an LDR before and is currently in one now. i would always say how dumb i think LDRs are, and how i could never be in one. fast forward to now, 2 months into an LDR with the man i want to marry. i couldnt pass up on someone like him. this LDR with him (hes in usa im in aus) has been much more fulfilling and healthy than my previous close distance relationship ever was. we are determined to close the gap and build a life together. it works so well because we are open about any and everything, and trust each other completely. stay strong and youll conquer anything!

i'm currently in long distance relationship for about a year, first we were hectic and often jumped to conclusions but now we're stable. we call every single day for 4+ hours. I know it's a little bit too much and may backfire but it just suits us well. When we get bored of the same lifestyle we calmly tell each other that we're starting to get bored and take phone call breaks for a day or two, it works! And my advice is let your partner know that you're not cheating by telling them first about your day or schedule before your partner asks about it. Asking each and everytime is tiring for your partner and makes them think that they're being annoying and starts hiding their insecurities, this breaks down the calm relationship and stirs fights. Cheers! PS: my GF is not the same nationality as me :) If you need advice on this point ask me about it.

Yea it’s hard for sure, but it’s literally the best thing ever. Not having your partner there physically sucks but the second you hear from them makes a world of difference. Also the building anticipation to see them is indescribable and possibly the greatest feeling of love ever. I love it 🥰

@@Mandaazoee After 6 months I returned home to continue some unfinished studies. During our time apart we kept in constant contact and worked around the 4 hour time difference between us. We talked and watched lots of movies together in our free time. It actually helped us grow closer as a couple but personally I don't know if I could keep that up for years on end. I truly respect those who do long distance for several years.

I gotta say, I appreciate this comment thread. It's the same with my boyfriend. We're artists and sometimes we even work on our art deadlines on call, silently encouraging each other, going through the work together. That's only one example. I think it's soooo important to be able to feel comfortable in each other's silent company. It kinda gives a sense that you're naturally in sync. It's comforting.

I was in a long term relationship for a year. It ended. When we moved in together 🥰 honestly learning to live together, and me moving in with him and away from all I knew, has been harder than long distance for me. Long distance was easy for us, we met gaming and games every day. Even if not on the same game. Our immense communication skills really made it a breeze. Never went to bed upset with each other. We also understand each other's need for some space and alone time sometimes, and we will just ask if the other needs that if we aren't sure. If we aren't sure about our own feelings or what to say we will take the time to think about them before we answer. Communication really is the key to a healthy relationship. No one can read minds. You both should also be in tune with your own emotions and not let them drive disagreements. I can proudly say we have never fought. Disagreed yes but never fought. No raised voices in our house. (Save for at video games 😂)

this is really helpful. me and my boyfriend had to go through LDR because I'm continuing my studies far from him. I can feel it that we already grow distance but I really love him and our relationship so here I am trying to make sure I lose the guy that I love. I’m currently in a long distance relationship with a person that’s in another state and he have told me he would be very occupied in training and studying. Sometimes we don’t talk much and other times he wouldn’t respond to some of the messages I send him. I know he’s very occupied because he said he was going to be, but now he doesn’t even say “good morning” or “goodnight” and I do feel kind of sad because of that ‘cause I feel that in just bothering him :( I’ll try to give him more space now because maybe he feels forced to respond to some of my messages, but also he sometimes doesn’t send me any. The next time we’ll talk by phone, I’ll tell him how I feel and ask him how he feels so we can both try to come up with a solution to make our relationship work. Tanks a lot! I was about to study, but this video caught my attention. My princess, she lives 12,795 km away from me. I am currently in a long distance relationship and it is been over 8 months. I am studying at university in U.K. and my boyfriend is still in Lithuania studying. It is very hard to stay strong and go through my day knowing that he is very far away. I am trying to think positive and tell myself that it is going to be only a few years but is hard. We see each other rarely but for two weeks or more and still, it is not enough because up till now I saw him only two times. We love each other very much and we talk every day, we play games and watch movies or shows together at the same time while talking on Skype. We exchange pictures from time to time and most of them are silly ones :D To everyone that is going through long distance relationship, I can say that communication and honesty is a key as well as trusting one another and doing things together. Sometimes it may feel that the distance is not even there.

Thank you. I'm basically in the same scenario for about 5 months now and will be for at least 2 years. I try to keep positive and stay focused knowing that the struggle is only temporary and it will be worth it when we get back to each other. I wish you all the best of luck!

Skaistė Pėstininkaitė I've been in one for two years and I've never met him irl. We plan to see each other next year and then spend two or three more years apart while he does the PhD and i my masters. But I don't care, we spend every day together and we love each other so much we'd wait for the other as long as it's necessary. You've seen him twice in just a few months.. consider yourself lucky :) your distance could have been way bigger

Thank you for your reply. I know that I am lucky to see him but next year will be way harder and I will try to survive but we might not see each other for a whole year. We both are going to have a hard year and some of my decisions will be very important and I still do not know what I am going to do. Also, I am afraid that I might lose him over my emotions and constant sadness. I am trying to not show him but he always notices if I am sad. But the thing is that I am only like this when we are apart when we are together I am always happy and smiling. So I just hope I am not going to lose him over my emotions and stupidity..

I totally agree to those tips. I have a very fresh long distance relationship (germany / USA) for 9 months now. With this relationship i noticed many things i didn't realise about me. You have reflect yourself constantly and its hard to not overthink all the time especially to avoiding toxic behaving patterns. Even when it's hard we make the best out of it. And YES: I never felt so close to someone. FOR ALL OF YOU: good luck and enjoy life and love wherever it falls. "happiness is a choice!"

Im in a long distance relationship and she’s without a doubt the love of my life. Relationships I’ve had in the past just don’t compare to the feelings of love that we have for one another. She may doubt when i tell her that she’s the most beautiful thing ive ever seen but i swear its true. The emotions i feel just from seeing her face are unlike anything I’ve ever felt about anyone. I find her to be perfect and i would fight for us to be together no matter what the distance is or who’s between us.. i choose her out of the entire world and distance is nothing when you feel this way about someone. I was and now married to my long distance relationship 😃 It can be daunting especially if your not from the same country. The most important thing is you need to decide what are the most important values for you and your partner, ie job over health care.

He is in Tanzania and I’m in Canada. His values when we talk is family and his health but his actions speak differently. He is constantly working. No time for church or family and me . He says he loves me very much . I’m becoming lonely after 11 months and 3 tries of getting him a visa . He needs to prove to the government he has money for the travel, that he has a reason to go back to his home country ( his job or child or ill parents) He should have a clean criminal record, My guy was refused visa because he had never been outside his country his bank statements were not showing enough savings despite that I wrote that I will pay for his flight and accommodation.

I'm in LDR for like 10 months now, not gonna lie, it's crazy tough at first, we demand endless chat, overdose of insecurities, doubts here and there, small fight over unproven disloyalty u tell me my god its exhausting and I'm nearly burnout. but somehow it turns out fine, just need loads of patience, trust, and continuously showing love everyday for sure...3 hours flight distance?...yup we're all for it.

I've been in a really long distance relationship for over 4 years now and we are finally moving together in less than 2 months! My tip would be keep making plans together for when you'll be seeing each other, taking into consideration which date works the best for both of you. Life happens, specially when you have a job or you study, it's OK if you can't see each other in 4 months, just set a date to hold on to. And one more thing, think about when the distance will be over, decide where will you live, think when you roughly want it to happen. Going with the flow doesn't really work in this kind of relationships!

I only saw them in person a few times before i ever realized i loved them. I’ve sent them a few art peices and things i’ve made for them and i hope they cherish them as much as i cherish the letters i have, and the small stuffed animal i have from them as a gift. I’m in a 4 yr relationship n we’ve been long distance for the past year or so. Truly the best thing we could have done for ourselves. We each had our own issues to work on. The way we communicate is better than ever. I also had a very unhealthy attachment to him that led to ugly jealous episodes.. I don’t get like that anymore.. i was resistant at first but it saved us I think
