This is my most ambitious and much improved mounting tutorial since my "paper plate" version from 2012. This one covers 6 freemounting techniques plus one more that is an all new "helper" mount that you carry with but takes up no space and adds no extra weight! MUST SEE, WATCH TO END!
I purposely left out the so-called "rollback" mount and the "kick-up" mount. The rollback mount is Impractical and inefficient especially for mounting a 36er unicycle because, as the name implies, the wheel rolls backward when mounting, which requires you to quickly reverse direction in order to start moving forward. This is especially difficult if you use short cranks like I do which have a lot less leverage to quickly stop the movement of such a large heavy wheel.
And I also left out the kick-up mount because it is also not very practical for everyday use and it is also how I tore my hip cartilage the last time I did about 30 of those in a row! Ouch! The so-called "suicide" mount was also not included, which basically is a jump mount without your hands touching the saddle or any part of the unicycle until after you've landed on the pedals. This is mostly done for show or as a trick and again not practical in everyday use.
In this new video you will also see my all new 36er mounting trainer that you can easily make for next to nothing. Instructions and parts list below:
UniGeezer’s 36er Mounting trainer stand:
Chop saw, table saw or hack saw
Phillips head screwdriver
16 3” wood screws
Two 4x4’s each cut to 18”
8 pieces of 2x4 each cut to 10"
Griptape for the tops of each 4x4
Attach each 2x4 to 4x4’s to make them stand vertically.
You can use long clamp or screw each completed 4x4 stand together for stability.
