Mad respect for Angle. The dude asked to be fired because he was going through a LOT during that time. He knew his addiction was going to cause major problems for others especially being a top star in 2006 and decided to quit and get himself better.
@@88K-d6h Kurt Angle went to TNA because TNA offered him a part time contract for a lot of money. Kurt said there schedule was lighter and easier for him in his podcast.
@@drunozeko4332 Yeah he needed knee surgery but delayed the surgery until after the match with Brock and was supposed to do some more matches once he'd recovered but never got the chance and was released
The Mr. Kennedy firing makes it obvious they just didn't like him. Because Randy Orton obviously got real injuries in matches with other people more than once & none of them were even close to fired.
John and Randy abused their powers like Vince the dude came back 9 months off crap happens and yu are right Randy is like a glass cannon he gets injury after injury but for him to go after Kennedy's wife that crossed a line and he should be punished yet we live in the world of they make money so no.
@@Devin-O so right yo. Randy is a cuck made of glass, yet Mr kennedy was disliked so he went.. that's looking after the weak and screwing the talent alright..
@@ironicstatement well. They originally was going to do that in summer 07. But benoit happened. I see him as one of the best technical wrestlers and ignore what happened in edmonton canada.
Mad respect for Kurt and how now he is really stepping up in helping others with their addictions. Love it when he shows up every now and then in the ring especially on the mic
The wrestling promoters/owners are notorious for deadbeating their talent...listen to some of the stories that some of the old ECW talent tell about Paul E. not paying them! 😂
So Vince actually didn't owe him 500k. He was mad Hogan got a mil for mania while he only got 500k. Which was in the contracts. Warrior thought he was as big as Hogan which simply wasn't true. Warrior was a constant problem. Just a year earlier he refused to drop the belt to Rick Rude and Rick left the company. Warrior was trying to hold Vince hostage because he was already in the storyline and promotions for the pay per view. I'm no saying Vince hasn't ever been shady. But this wasn't one of those times.
@@lathe1233 Not true on the Rick Rude part. Rude was upset how much Warrior made compared to him at that PPV and he wasn't going to be main event level. So it is ironic what happened here and Warrior/Hogan payouts. Even without knowing this back in those days Warrior winning at WM 6 and losing a couple months later wouldn't happen. Vince had his face champs hold the title for a decent while.
He probably would have made more money in the long run without the 500k, since he got fired immediately after. Vince basically said, here's your 500k and that's the last money you'll ever see from me, instead of continuing to make regular paydays for years to come
The ultimate warrior and bret hart were both fucked by the corporate shrill called mcmahon. How is it the one as DON'T and NEVER worked got the MONEY to CONTROL those WHO do HAVE to work????
@@Sgtturtle22 For him to go out and still perform at top level considering the amount of pain he was in and the amount of prescription pills he was abusing is pretty impressive.
the way the sum got demanded was a mistake, it couldve been resolved in a better way then threatening not showing up at a really important event last minute.
@@Jk-ey7mp I think it depends. How long was he owed? Had he tried to get the money through better means multiple times and failed? If he went through options prior to that, getting Vince by the balls to make it happen wasn't the worst idea, minus it killing his career. But maybe he realized that could happen when he did it and thought it better to get his money and go.
Angle technically resigned, but opted for the "termination" status so that he does not waive any benefits that would help him on the path to his recovery. Bravo to Kurt in recognizing when to stop and take a moment.
I'm a huge Angle fan, he's probably my favorite wrestler of all time but its hard to say "oh he knew when to take a moment" when he had his first match in TNA less than 3 months later
He didn't stop and take a moment. He refused to get help and went to tna where he could continue his addiction. He's talked about it countless times, last being in the Angle documentary.
Ultimate Warrior demanded $500k THAT HE WAS OWED? Was that a large tab accruing over months? Or was that suppose to be his pay for that one match? If he had been waiting to be paid for various matches for months, I don't blame him one bit.
From what I read, UW was mad at not making as much as other guys (Hogan specifically) and demanded to be paid more for a previous match (basically demanding retro-pay after the match had already taken place) and for the forthcoming summerslam (where he was already on the ticket and being advertised). If he didn't get paid, he said he would not show. It was basically a tantrum that he was not being paid as much as the very top guy(s) and he held his services ransom. He put management in a bad position and pretty much guaranteed that he could not be relied on in the future - because if it works once, why not extort more money again? That's just what I read about it... could be slanted to favor one side in the story too...
@@tattoodude8946 If he was worth the $500,000 to have him turn up for a single match, then he was absolutely correct in thinking he deserved more money. I don't think that would be the case though, I find it much more likely they bowed to him because there was legal precedent to it.
There's two sides. The Warrior said that he verbally agreed to a new $500k contract after becoming champion at 'Mania. Then Vince reneged because he was disappointed with Warrior's title reign. Vince says Warrior demanded $500k for the one match at Summerslam.
@@jonathonjones2611 Just because verbal agreements can be legally binding doesn't mean every verbal agreement is. And that would be even harder to honor considering the industry and time period UW was in. In practice, we can say that any contract agreement UW verbally agreed with Vince which was not a physical signed one means nothing.
I always thought Orton was pissed cuz he landed on his bad shoulder. His head didn't even touch the mat on that back suplex, if that's what Orton is complaining about then he straight up screwed Kennedy for no reason.
@@woobgamer5210 it's not like Orton of all people knew what Kennedy was or wasn't using, so regardless of if he was using, doesn't change the fact Orton straight up lied about Kennedy being unsafe here. Randy's head was fine but he said Kennedy hurt his head, not his shoulder. Which is total bs.
I don't think Kennedy was all that safe or maybe he was just unlucky and already on thin ice. I remember Cena tearing his peck with the dumb hip toss he used to do and I don't remember Cena doing it anymore when he came back.
Mr. Kennedy was a threat for John Cena and Randy Orton's spotlight, at that time, they were the future of WWE, they weren't a fan of Kennedy's in-ring skills bc he was unsafe to work with, but injury prone killed Kennedy's career
Kennedy wasn't unsafe, it simply a case of them using backstage politics to further their star power, plus it's far too obvious Orton didn't land on his head, simply overshot the spot.
Because Kennedy didn't deseeve to be in the WWE. The dude was literally hurting people in the ring and was too arrogant to admit it. He was just a train wreck. If you can't perform safely and properly then you shouldn't be doing the job.
Speaking as only occasional watcher i kinda liked Eugene Was his gimmick a bit offensive? Yeah but when has tv and wwe especially ever been strangers to offensive portrayals? Anyone remember crime time? The mexicools riding lawnmowers? How about that classic time when Sargeant Slaughter became osama bin laden's biggest fan? Yeah...i prefer Eugene over all that
Cain had no idea how to wrestle in such an environment, he also looked incredibly goofy and underwhelming, especially compared to a monster like Brock, which was not really saved by the fact that he defeated Brock years earlier at a sport most wwe fans did not actually watch, and then this whole Dominik and Rey debacle around it. Losing Kennedy was a shame though, and most likely down to Orton and Cena trying to eliminate competition.
you are forgetting that Cain actually beat Brock in real fight. I watched this fight it war pretty good. Brock winning with Cain in wwe was a good promotion and they should have kept Cain around.
Trying to eliminate Kennedy because they were worried about him? More like this isn't the only incident he messed up in the ring and was a nightmare to work with. I liked Kennedy alot actually, but he didn't play well with others. Kennedy screwed Kennedy.
Imagine someone like Kurt Angle asking to be released because of pain and such. Mad respect to him that he has drawn the line to keep the health he had left.
I actually enjoyed Cain Velasquez vs Brock Lesnar, definitely more than tyson Fury vs Braun Strowman. The Velasquez vs Lesnar match felt more like a fight than a wrestling match, which is both what I hoped for and expected due to both being former UFC champions. It was intense and looked less choreographed/more sloppy. Which resembled more of a real fight than most wrestling matches that are more of a dance.
Cain just got paid to job. He is from AKA and beat Brock in the UFC and then had that 2 minute farce. From what I heard Cain got many compliments while Wrestling in Lucha Libre.
@@hackedboss9106 That's just not true. Cain is up there with the best the UFC has seen, Brock benefited from what was a pretty weak division at the time. Cain wins that fight 9/10 times
I'm surprised Bart Gunn didn't make the list. Wrestlemania 15, gets squashed by Butterbean in the Brawl for All, then is fired immediately afterwards. All because he unintentionally ruined their plans for Dr. Death to feud with Steve Austin by beating him.
I think the real reason he was fired is because he humiliated Vince by getting destroyed by Butterbean so quickly, because it made the entire WWE roster look weak compared to legitimate fighters
@@royjonzejr Butterbean himself said that he was brought in to be Bart Gunn's punishment for beating Dr. Death on Dark Side of the Ring. The fact that they even sent Bart to a Boxing school showed that they even tried to sabotage him, as Butterbean admits that he had a better chance of winning if he fought like he did in the Brawl for All instead of as a boxer. Not helping that Bart revealed that they changed the rules to better be in Butterbean's favor.
Let's create a shoot fight tournament... with a worked conclusion... and punish the guy for winning in a shoot fight. Uhhh.... I think WWF needed to lay off the meth in the mid 90's.
The Ultimate Warrior one seems sketchy if he was trying to get, what sounds like, back pay that was owed to him. I mean, if you haven't been paid in a while and have a little leverage you would do the same.
He kind of was and kind of wasn't though. He was upset Hogan's conrtact was worth double what his was and tried to negotiate matching pay. Though Vince did eventually submit and agree to it. Then as the event got closer he still hadn't been paid the difference and made the threat.
I haven't watched wwe since 2003, back when scott steiner and Test (R.I.P Test) were fighting over Stacy. I have no clue why i'm being recommended this stuff but this creator is very VERY good at what he does.
In ‘06, Angle was caught up in the big steroid scandal that was going on. Most people viewed him getting “fired” as an excuse to get him out of the business for a bit, waiting for the heat do die down. When he returned a while layer, he was much smaller & it was obvious he was off the juice.
4:58 Kennedy didn’t mess up the move at all. Many wrestlers talked about it even Kennedy and it showed Orton’s head never hit the mat and the move was fine and Orton landed flat as your suppose to. And if Kennedy is so dangerous why did no one say the same in TNA or other promotions?
Cain’s last match was at crown jewel. They had planned on using him at the rumble. But, he got injured. So, it was scrapped. Ended up being released during the first COVID cut.
Vince didn't have "no choice but to pay warrior". He could have fired him when he got the letter and changed the main event as he had 6 weeks. He did the same thing the following year at survivor series
The merchandise such as action figures, posters, t shirts, video games, etc. asociated with Warrior was immense. Dropping possibly the industry's biggest star at the time would be difficult to do on the spot.
@@xxJuJuxx1922 even though they didn't drop him for that. He had a mental breakdown and was released because he couldn't reliably perform without anxiety attacks
I know that Kennedy/Anderson has had that reputation of being unsafe and also i think i heard unprofessional but watching the tape back angle shown it doesnt look like Randy landed on his head or neck.
@@lathe1233 Nah, we worked with the Warrior for two years. He was happy with his $6 mill from WCW and had invested wisely but hated wrestling (bumps, travel, schedule, boys etc).
He owned a training business that was successful. Vince tried to get him the the HOF and Warrior kept refusing until finally he agreed and he apologized to Vince and Hogan and they apologized for the video they released that bashed Warrior. All was water under the bridge. Then 3 days later Warrior passed. Very sad for his wife and 2 little girls
"#2: Brad Maddox Brad Maddox is best known to WWE fans as...." Funny, the only thing I remember about him is a certain internet video involving him, Paige, & Xavier Woods. 🙄🤮
Kurt Angle was literally the whole reason I watched as much wrestling as I did. He had so many iconic moments that I even went to TNA just to watch his matches
This is so weird. During this month. Randy and Kennedy were traveling together during this period. I actually hung out with both of them at a bar playing pool and had dinner with them. It seemed like there were tight friends
“Brad Maddox is most well known to WWE fans for his time spent servicing as the General Manager of RAW between 2013-2014.” Well, yes, but actually no. 😂
I feel like Randy and Cena were intimidated by Kennedy because he had charisma neither one of them had and he would have been a big star if he stayed around.
Honestly I don't think any of these are true. The Cain one was definitely false and the John Cena clip in the video was about firing John Laurinaitis, not Ken Kennedy.
@@MrKingpin1205 The stories themselves are true, but the clips are obviously chosen for comedic effect rather than an attempt to portray the actual event. Some of these exchanges were public - such as the online battle between Randy and Mr Anderson - and a lot of the wrestlers have talked publicly about what happened. So yes, all of these stories are either true or at least hitting very close to the mark for why the releases occurred. Although the timeline might be a bit off; the wrestlers were not necessarily fired "immediately after" a match, so much as the match being the reason they were ultimately fired.
Woods was in the video too but wasn't released due to his privilege. If they had kept Brad too by now it would have been forgotten about the same way people forgot Woods from a New Day was even in the video. Cause he wasn't fired for it
Buff Bagwell is another one. He only ever had one match in WWE, and he was fired almost immediately afterwards, because his match against Booker T was so poorly received. Apparently, Bagwell was a heavy drinker at the time, and Vince really didn't like that either.
I completely read the title as “Fired After ONE Match” like people who were signed then had only one match and then left or got let go. that would be a pretty cool video too
According to an interview with Kevin Nash, Mabel almost got fired on the spot after a match as well cause of that butt crash to their back move he would do. According to Nash, was opposed to the firing despite the injury and said he just made a mistake, let's just make sure it doesn't happen again.
"There was no other way than Warrior's way" Translation: 'Warrior is right , I owe him the money but as soon as I pay him I will fire him for forcing me to pay him money I already owed him" "
Translation, you actually don't know anything about the situation whatsoever. Because what really happened was, warrior wanted the same money that Hogan got. Which was 500k more. But what he was neglecting is that Hogan killed him in merchandise sales and money draw. The warrior wasn't unpaid, he just wanted more. He was a nightmare to work with. The year prior Rick Rude left the company because Warrior refused to drop the belt to him.
Ken Anderson stated that he had buried the hatchet with Orton before the pandemic when the WWE were in Minneapolis. He said they hung out for a half hour and talked about life in general.
Warrior/Hogan vs Col Mustafa, Sgt Slaughter, Gen Adnan - Warrior made big money demands and threatened to no-show. After the match, he was canned. When he returned he looked a LOT smaller, and many fans thought it was Texas Tornado playing the character.
Yes, Vince dropped the F-bomb, however the difference is that Vince didn't swear AT the crowd like the other guy did. Vince NEVER swore AT the crowd. He USES the crowd to either be a heel or to fire them up to give someone else a push. Never ONCE did Vince EVER belittle the crowd. So he wasn't being a hypocrite.
@@woobgamer5210 But you're mixing up the situation with what the first guy said. He said VINCE was hypocritical, NOT the situation. I agree that the times and the PG era have made the "situation hypocritical yes, but VINCE himself is NOT. VINCE never swore AT the crowd like in that particular instance. In THAT clip dude was insulting the crowd. Vince never did THAT. He certainly insinuated and made suggestive comments but "belittling" the crowd is like "asking for career death." Even when the Rock was heel and he had his famous "Rock Concerts" while insulting a city or their sports team, he NEVER belittled the crowd. There's a definite distinction that can't be overlooked. These fine distinctions are what SELL WWE/ Like how they HATE being called "fake." Practiced, Rehearsed, Coryographed???? These are accurate; FAKE is not accurate. And it's why Wrestlers like Lesnar get REALLY pissed when some EFFING joker casually calls them out on it.
Nah, there are a lot of people who doesn’t like fat wrestlers. When you have a fat wrestler who’s pretending to have mental capacity of a 6 year old, there was no place for him other than straight into the pooper.
