It’s been great being able to mill our own lumber! Oh & btw, our neighbor took all the tops that we cut off the logs, she’s going to use them in her garden since we are not quite ready to utilize them ourselves. We loaded 3 loads of them on the forks of the tractor & delivered them to them.
Yes! It takes some strategic planning on the cuts to get the absolute most useful lumber from each log. That’s what all the back & forth measuring each end is all about.
No, we are just cutting dimensional sizes & we have them staged & stacked in a form where they can naturally dry out. What we end up with, will be what we have. It will definitely be good wood. Slow drying for 6 months is suppose to be better than kiln dry.
