Same. I have now watched so many former monsters doing interviews; i feel like I could help write a screenplay on the next mob movie ( and there is always another one in the works).
I have nothing but the utmost respect for him. He did what any other normal person would have in his situation. No meat head type tough guy talk. Yet people who have absolutely nothing to do with that life, will come on here and rant about how cooperating was weak. I think they've watched goodfellas one too many times. Anyone in their right frame of mind, would have taken the deal. And if you say you wouldn't, you're lying straight up. I wish Gotti jr and his family the best going forward. Good for you John.
Nah, he saw how much time he could get if he continued to be the boss of that family. Anyting anyone does, whether it's an associate, soldier, or a capo, meant that as the boss the government could lay everything on him just because he's the boss of the family, and get him with a major RICO case. And depending on the charges and the circumstances he could have gotten life in prison. That's why he decided to call it quit, and no one else really wanted the job as a boss for that family especially not after what happened to John Senior....
The shoolsystem have to make a combination history ,mixed cosanostra with important dates in the past!!! That would have been not so dry in shool!!!!🤔🤔🤪🤪😉😉🤭🤣
We have to know why the kid needed this level of over seeing / any problem the kid may have had was likely bec of who his father was. That type of garbage stresses kids ..
I have to say I really respect this man for doing what he did in getting out of the only life he knew - just to ensure that his family would have a better life than he did. That's really remarkable for someone in his position and I don't the think that is appreciated enough in our society. I think people deserve second chances.
I did time with him in Raybrook. We were in the same :Unit". I sat behind him in in the-TV-witching " room". He and I were in the same creative-writing class. As for being locked down; he was only in SHU for the period when his dad was dying. Speaking of dying; Jr. came close to being killed-when an earth quake hit the facility and part of the mess hall ceiling crashed down -landing on John's "personal table: (Which I had been invited to twice). l
"You wanna quit the life? What is this? That aint how I raised ya boy!"

John Jr's favorite things to say: "I'll follow you off a cliff Dad" "If my Fawtha said, I wanna be a Butchah, I'd be there with my smock cutting meat." "Comiserating"
I think to John Jr. disappointing his pop was far worse than prison ever could have been!! I’m Italian American, and we all look to our Fathers as HEROES!.. I understand that he wanted Johns permission to take that plea
Whaa...the police were picking on him? How about when he and Howard Beach crew were bullying people, fighting cops in the street, flexing muscle and flaunting the power they thought they had? It's called Karma, John
he was on a lot of steroids. I'm surprised Jr used roids because his father called people using steroids a garbage pail. John Gotti hated people who used steroids because Sammy Gravano used steroids.
John Jr seems smarter than people give him credit for. It does seem a little old that he would be allowed to quit the life without anybody making a noise about it.
He was a big guy. Still a big guy. I can't say whether or not he was all natural. But he def hit the weights hard and probably would be a damn tough fight.
His dad was given the nickname The 'Teflon Don' in the New York Times, his nickname was 'The Dumbfella'. It's hard to believe but he kept a typed list of every made man in the Gambino family in his home where the authorities found it.
Was new members, when people get made in any of the 5 families gets made before there name goes on a list and I sent around to the other bosses etc to see if anyone has a problem with any of them being made for being a rat, ex police anything that's against the rules
Nothing was ever left behind on accident. It was done purposely and John Gotti had a way of doing things to get the job done and if that meant leaving a typed list behind of other names so that would they would get off his back then, so be it.
The difference in him and his father was when the heat came one got out the other took his punishment and kept pushing. While Senior was a gangster and did get put away, he never backpedaled on who he was.
One last thing, how is he meeting his dad in a private room not in cuffs ?? Only the federal government can lime that up. They don’t do that for prisoners, they do t do this for John jr because he is the don!! The fact this is happening shows how jr is working with the government
The Cosa Nostra John Jr exited wasn't the same Cosa Nostra in Gambino's day; I mean during the time when he took over and the family took his sir name. There was only one way out. Cosa Nostra was basically completely Americanized by the time Jr. got in.
03:52 Jr. is correct. Fellow gangsters and especially your rivals on the street would LOVE FOR YOU TO SAY YOU'RE LEAVING THE BUSINESS! WHY? For your rivals to see you leave means you are less of a headache they have to worry about, no longer competition for illegal rackets. For you're fellow gangsters, you're one less hand they have to pay money to.
David Brutus Put the cash into a car?!? That's even more idiotic than putting it into a suit. They both lose 50% retail the second you walk out the door. If you're going to do anything I guess I would tell you to buy some real estate....just don't buy in Midtown.
Bob tucker ......... here is a little something for you 'lost souls' '' What would it profit a man to gain the whole world, yet lose his very soul!'' The Bible.
Because of the new movie? And the handsome character who played him?😂 give me a break. This guy was nothing and never did nothing that’s why he was released. Dude was the son of a rich father. A suburban nice boy 😂
I gotta say, IF he really left the life for his family, Good for him and god bless him. Flip side IF he left because he saw himself doing life like his Father…Good for him He woke up. I’ll say it the way it is….. iv been in the street life and it’ll eat you up.
Difference in his life now, even though no one is promised tomorrow but when he makes a appointment for next Friday he expects to be there. 15 years ago it would've been iffy
Curtis Slewooooo is a dork. He thinks he knows so much about The Street yet he’s not EVER been a criminal. That’s like having a drug counselor that never used drugs trying to tell you how to stop using.
