After his court case ended in December 2009, John Gotti, Jr. returned to his home on Long Island. At age 47, he is married, with six children, and as he tells Steve Kroft, he is now trying to acclimate himself to being a free man.
@@FlowboyVegas1 He used that as an example of something he was brought up thinking was right, and later on learned was wrong. Have you always been a model man your whole life?
That is the one caracteristic that is needed to be a mob boss. Carisma... Heck if osama was talking like this guy people would`ve liked him too. That doesnt mean his not a bad guy-
The fact that he is a smooth talking, likable, sincere sounding guy that was once associated with one of the largest mafia families in this country, only means he learned to be that way. On the one hand, I'm sure he's sincere about wanting to live a life away from that life, but on the other hand, he most certainly has skeletons in his closet that he wishes nobody finds out about. Good interview though.
I like Jr. I did NOT his father but I do him However, you can't say you don't disrespect women when you tell your wife who she can and can't talk to. 🤣
That’s exactly what I said somewhere else. I respect him because he actually chose his family over the life. I believe him when he said if he didn’t have a wife and kids he would’ve kept going. He chose his family over the street very smart man, unlike some others.
Melissa Smith people make all sorts of mistakes & many of the ppl in jail commit crimes because of need, need for money or food ect that doesn’t make them them bad or the worse in society like rapist & child abusers those deserve the chair no jury
I had friend who was smart and nice. Would never hurt a fly or say something mean about anyone. He eventually fell into a bad crowd of drugs and crime. The next year, he robbed a bank with 2 other friends. 1 got shot by the police, another fled, and he got caught. He went to prison for 6 years. Came out, and returned back to being a normal nice person. We're all human and can be caught up in something terrible. Hitler convinced good people to do terrible things as a prime example.
"i wouldn't disrespect anyones daughter and I expect the same" I wish more men would live by these words. Respect and care for women. also women need to act like ladies who deserve to be respected. things we can all work on
You do realise that a lot of their money comes from prostitution, strip clubs etc. Obviously he has no qualms about mistreating other people's daughters.
*LIES! HE EVEN GOT SLAPPED.ON HIS LEFT CHEEK FOR LOOKING LIKE HE DIDN'T LIKE HAVING TO PAY PROTECTION AT THE MEDIUM SECURITY FACILITY. HAPPENED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DAY ROOM UNIT (D) 1995 right before lunch call. I witnessed it with my own eyes. Jr. Gotti is a rats RAT!🐀!*
It’s crazy that such a relatively normal interview can be so captivating. The charisma Jr has, if it’s even half that of his old man, makes it easy to see why Sr was loved by so many.
don't be fooled by the charisma & cunning of a narcissist -- He's very shallow - he ticks off all the shiny things that makes him feel special in part 3 .. very sad but predictable when you have a father like John Gotti who modeled narcissism for young John -- this kid is starved for identity .. for real love and real security .. real attachment ... And Real Sad
Have watched this interview 10 times, He is a fascinating person to listen too. I would love to have a beer with the guy...His old school values are priceless.
I was totally astounded by Jr’s interview. He is quite smart, poised and articulate. As opposed to some typical mobsters that I grew up with in Red Hook, Brooklyn. Not only that, but the way he conveyed his story was captivating. And you can see how impressed and taken the interviewer was with John. His respect and admiration for our native Americans was heart warming given the horrors and indignity they put up with in the early days of the West. I could listen to Jr. all day long. He was very informative and very charismatic. A class act, despite his affiliations and criminal background.
The natives did extremely horrible atrocities to the settlers too. But everybody either don't know because the school system teaches kids to hate whites or if they do know, they want to pretend it was all the white man. Hypocrites
@@judithnicholais1492the irony is that narcissists like to project. A narcissist is usually the one who constantly goes around calling others narcissists. People overuse that word, especially women, and it's cringeworthy.
@@DigitalvideotoolsOrg alite just liked to talk to anyone that will listen. I don't think he was as big as he thought he was, of course I wouldn't say that to his face
I enjoyed watching this part 3 video. It shows that a man can change his behavior and be truly committed to live a better life. I enjoyed listening to him, and how committed he was to his word.
I would say articulate and reasonably intelligent given his limited formal education. As for "respect", IDK...I think far more people fear him rather than truly respect him. We don't know how many people he and his crew killed or ordered killed, and I don't necessarily believe that all of them "had it coming". We only have his word that he's severed all ties to his old life, but that's the word of a convicted felon. He admitted his dad was a born liar and that he still worships him, so... No one can blame young guys for not wanting to ask his daughter out. Even if you treated her right and things progressed romantically, would you really want to marry into that family, knowing all the baggage and unwanted attention that comes with it ? (Just ask Joey Buttafucco's daughter.) That all said, I can respect that John Jr seems sincere about living a straight and narrow life now. He should def sell that big LI house and move away from NY entirely. He'll likely be watched if not hounded by the Feds for the rest of his life, but even more so in the Tri-state area.
@Goog Googleman he was born into to life bro. He had no choice... from someone who was raised in a criminal neighborhood, it's tough to have a different life from everyone else.
Laughable "Ain't it" with what we have just learned about the FED's & CIA dealing in our government COVER UP'S for Jo Jo & Biden FAMILY MAFIA If it wasn't so sad & dangerous IT WOULD BE LAUGHABLE Anybody Remember when we all felt SAFE in this Country, after all the FBI had our back RIGHT 🤔🤨. Sorry Folkes. NOT anymore. Oh but they do have the BIDEN GANG'S BACKS. For sure !!!
He's very charming and funny. The way the interviewer looks at him and smiles...hes smitten lol...you can tell people gravitate towards him. He's got one of those personalities. He reminds me of my friends here in South Philly.
Really enjoyed this interview, you can tell junior has been threw it all and is still standing. I’m glad he changed and he seems like a great father! His son is an awesome MMA fighter as well!
Well at the very lease life has taught US ALL, preconceived notions can very well leave you in your original state of ignorance ( not knowing about the subject until you get the facts). A lesson in never assuming anything know matter how its presented by media/over zealous prosecution teams until you can here the other side can establish some facts.
@@garialmarsh6721 I don't know if I would go that far. At the end of the day, he was responsible for a lot criminality and antisocial behaviors. His income was blood money for many years and no doubt, many people suffered in respect of that. There is no nobility or integrity in that. He has a lot social restitution to make up for.
@@raymondwalsh7520 ..yeah raymond, you read my statement over and over and if that don't let you question how our bias and conflicts permeate to our own downfalls through society( the bigger picture) . Then there is nothing I we can talk about.
The press made him out to be a hot headed spin-off fuck up version of his father. But I must say from this interview he's a fascinating street wise family man from NYC who was born into that life and made the best of it.
Welcome to suckersville mate: population, people who actually believe he was looking after a sick baby all night before the FBI abused their power and arrested him for ‘nothin’
I like how he dedicated his time in his Indian room, that shows volume and morals.I salute you for that,Jr.Keep up the good work on Native American History.Peace and God Bless to you and your family,John Jr.
The agents kept bothering him because they became obsessed with him. The FBI became obsessed with the Gotti's. Once the guy is acquitted he is not supposed to be arrested or even interviewed about that charge ever again.
And that’s only in regards to the same charge of a specific incident. They could potentially charge him a 1000 times if it’s for different crimes and incidents
I like his father he used to buy pizza every Friday night for all the families living in the neighborhood...he gave back to the people as best he could. Good guy. John Sr. may he rest in peace
Fantastic guy. You meet him in person he makes even people he barely knows feel like they're the most important person in the room. Absolute gentleman, and as personable as they come.
Those last couple of lines about seeing a doctor and learning he has cancer as a possible scenario, you really hear somebody who values life and won't take for granted the second chance he was given
Damn, John Jr. I definitely felt that, talking about his dog Rocky passing hit me hard I just lost my Lil one of 12 years. She's never left my side that whole time. I never loved a dog so much. I'm heartbroken still 6 months later. I'm sorry Gotti was locked up when his dog passed, the way he added all the info about the dog it hit him in a different way and I could hear the sadness!
This guy can write stories of his past life and at the end say which lessons his past life taught him which would be valuable to everyone who isn't part of that life.
So much respect for all of these guys… as a child, my grandfather use to paint cars for Gotti Sr and a few of those guys. I remember he and Sammy sitting in our den in my parents house talking with them and just the way he carried himself and treated the people around him.. RIP John Sr
He may be out of the life but he's still connected. If you got caught ripping his house off you would be in major trouble. I think if you were ever a wise guy its like a smashed glass. Leaving the mob can't make the glass whole again. So he really is a wise guy having the best of both worlds. Gotti's son will always command a level of respect.
***** rats go into witseg and they sure don't continually get charged with trumped up BS. The feds were treating him precisely how I seen them treat my uncle's who refused to cooperate. I wouldn't be surprised if they charged him with j walking. Besides, it's like he said. Everyone knows where he lives. That doesn't sound like any snitch I've ever seen. I'm willing to bet dollars to donuts that all you know about street life is what you seen in the movies.
***** I know that Henry Hill still travels with bodyguards everywhere he gos. I'm not going to make up a lie about how I know any made guys but I will tell you that I come from a looooong line of bank robbers, Killers, con men, thieves, dope fiends and weed growers. So, yeah. I do know how people are treated when they cooperate and when they don't. I also have enough common (or uncommon) sense to know that if he did legitimately snitch then that's the very first question the reporter would have asked cause that would have increased his ratings by a thousand fold. But why am I so foolish to argue with someone who's done "research" on the ever truthful internet and with a superior intellect who is smart enough to call strangers names over the Internet. Silly me.
John Milton \You clearly haven't read the 302 of Jr's proffer session have you? He's a rat, doesn't matter if he didn't testify. Henry Hill has been dead for 4 years you weirdo! haha
Either this guy is one of the most stone-cold ice-faced liars in the world or he's got the sweetest heart for an ex-mob boss. Judging solely on this interview I have immense respect for him for getting out of that life especially considering the upside of the thrill, fame, girls, money, cars, action, adrenaline rush, and so forth. Huge respect that someone can just walk away from that.
Nothing but respect for this man. Even a little flattered that he knows of our struggle. Much respect Mister Gotti. My favorite gangsta interview right here.
They will never leave him alone while he lives in that big house giving the appearance of someone who is affluent. To the authorities this is flaunting ill gotten gains, even if he paid for the house legitimately they know he made a packet from crime. If after leaving the mob he was poor and living in a tenement, they'd probably leave him alone then.
The thing that got me is when he said at the end of the day all your gonna have is memories so make as many as you can such words to live by some very wise words from a wise man
I read both Anastasia and the Gotti Jr. book both are interesting but I find Gottis' more credible especially after seeing this interview. I think he carries himself well and sounds intelligent and sincere. He was probably a thug and a bully at one time but I think he's matured and paid for his mistakes and I hope the government leaves him alone as long as he stays away from future crime.
I remember years ago going to a club called Speaks in Island Park on Saturday nights. One night we went down there and the bouncer told us John Jr. was inside with his friends. We knew he had a reputation at the time and rumor had it that steroid use was big with him and his friends. Roid rage is something we didn't want to experience so we decided to go someplace else. Never did cross paths with him but a buddy of mine did in a diner one night. Let's just say my buddy had some healing to do for a few days.
What he said about his father not getting it was the final nail in the coffin. At that moment he knew his father was beyond redemption. His children unlike his father meant more to him than what he and his siblings meant to his father's #1 love the street/mobster life. smh That is no true father, or man, if that means more than your family which you ought to be treasuring.
I really enjoyed this whole interview , everyone has a past. And gotti jr. I enjoyed watching him talk about his life. He gives off a very "eh what are ya gonna do or what do ya want me to do about it?" vibe, he's also very witty with his humour. I always wanted to see an interview with his father because I have seen every clip he is in. Gotti sr. has a deep new york Italian American voice that you only get a glimpse of from the wire tapes and such. I know he would never have done it , but it would've been great to see a 60 min on him. Sure gotti jr. sounds like his father but you get my reason. Thanks for all parts of this video!
