On Saturday the 6th of April 2024, we took a trip over to Gamston Bank Level Crossing near Retford, a foot crossing on Causeway Lane. The main reason we decided to go over that evening was to catch A4 Class 60007 'Sir Nigel Gresley' working the return leg of the 'Tyne-Tees Pullman' railtour from Newcastle to London Kings Cross, promoted by Statesman Rail. The tour had been hauled up to Newcastle in the morning led by an LSL (Locomotive Services Limited) Class 90, banked by Class 47 D1924 'Crewe Diesel Depot'. The 47 was also banking 'Sir Nigel Gresley' on the return journey in the evening.
Along with seeing the railtour, we also saw multiple ECML regulars, including the following:
- 2 Lumo Class 803s
- 2 LNER Class 800/801 'Azumas'
- 2 Hull Trains Class 802 'Paragons'
- 1 Grand Central Class 180 'Zephyr'
- Along with a few duplicates off camera.
