Nice one 👍🏻 I'm on my second Monaro here in the U.K. after owning my first for 10 years. They're incredibly rare here now. Love it, and this one's for keeps 😊
@@Freedom_Now_2024 I believe they go for a pretty penny in Aus too? There's around five or six decent ones for sale here at the moment, ranging from about £8k to £20k, depending on condition. Pretty good value really
@@v88dicky32 Yea, you see less HSV's on the road every week here. It's like owners are garaging them and keeping them as investments. Parts are getting expensive too. But yea if you can get one for 20k pound grab it. Some of the earlier performance Holden's are now selling for up to $200k here since the factory shut down. I see a lot of older model Holden's lately being carried around on trailers too (IMO with a view to restoration). Fortunately I picked up a 2014 HSV VF Clubsport R8 b4 the factory shut down. I will be doing a big upgrade within the next few weeks to a Walkinshaw W547 Supercharged/Cam/3" exhaust kit + Bilstein suspension. To my mind you cant beat the package with anything else. Aussies love their HSV's.
@@Freedom_Now_2024 Wow, that's great. Mine is a fairly standard V2 Series III, with AP brakes and a Wortec exhaust and tune. 45k miles and I paid £10k this June. She's a good honest example and will be well looked after. Cheers 🍻👍
Great Video Clay, Thank you. The HSV GTO is an absolutely beautiful driving car, with unique unbeatable looks. I have a Devil Yellow VZ 2005 GTO coupe with factory Ohlins suspension and Harrop Brakes, tyre temp and pressure montiors LS2 6.0L you just can't help but enjoy the ride, and that fabulous V8 Sound.
@@ClayWong yeah its loud as, I've got a VE HSV walkinshaw supercharged 646 horse power, but I hate the fact it's not a 2 door like this gto it looks so much more of a sports car than mine.
@@Trpmanne yeah my mates and even parents prefer mine over this one but i love 2 doors like this gto and Monaros they look so much more like a young guys car and has that more racecar look to it (im 23 so would suit me more than my VE)...cause when I drive past it im like dayum that looks tough, but like clay said 50k minimun for a stock one which is way too much i bought mine for 38k with the engine already supercharged from the dealership (first owner got the 480kw walkinshaw package) with 52,000k's on the clock, manual and 2012 (LS3) which is a pretty good price compared to this car...but this one will hold its value way more than our VE's
Awesome vid Clay. I have a VZ monaro among other Holdens, I love it, but after seeing vids like these, makes me want a gto/gts with a blower. Sounds tops. Also, the monaro also went to the UAE and South Africa as the chev lumina coupe
I’m from the US and was debating on getting a 2006 Pontiac GTO coupe (manual), but the lack of available replacement parts nowadays, kinda strayed me from the decision… The GM Chevy LS2 engine platform obviously attracted me, as well as the nice leather interior; one that was a much nicer quality than the leather interior that came in most 2010-2015 Chevy Camaro’s.
That's looks an sounds Sick!! I love my New Zealand New, all original, black on black VY GTO!! Really rare over in NZ, only 375 came here. Cheers and keep up the good work
I miss my 06 ls2 gto... I wanted to turn it into a manaro lol. But getting manaro parts was hard. And it got destroyed my some idiot on an exit ramp... I want another one lol.
If its found in the us, why has it got vic rego plates? Aslo it looks just like the one that reversed into a BP Servo concrete pillar in regional victoria, basically went into subway and then reversed out & bang, i seen it happen and the guy just drove off, the middle of the back bar was crushed, LMFAO when i seen it happen, but also crushed for such a massive rear car as well?
The wheels scrub because the guards haven't been rolled to suit... Dont blame the wheels when 50% of the task of lowering a car, is clearance itself. Not much but stance if it scrubs is it...
At the 5.00min point it was commented that the boot size was large, what a load of B.S... The boot is so small to the point of what to do if driving a GTO and got a flat tyre, what would you do with the tyre that was removed as I won’t fit in the boot, your weekly grocery shop will hardly fir in the boot.. To replace a tyre/rim on a 2006 GTO you wouldn’t get much change out of $2000 so no one would be in a hurry to leave it behind and pick up later. I myself own a 2006 GTO, that I bought new,. So even with boot that is completely useless I would never part with my GTO, call me bias but I feel the GTO is the best looking car Holden ever made
At lest when you do burnouts in the Monaro you won’t need that Fire extinguisher unlike you would with a Mercedes 😂 didn’t they make an all wheel drive Monaro?
No OTR??? WTF no offence man, but find a commodore with similar output to the F6 (1200 rwKw) no N2O - as we say down under, it’s apples and oranges 🇦🇺✌🏽
Compare the quality of car tho, apples and oranges, door handles falling off and interior plastics cracking, the whole interior creaks in a falcon bc they are the most poorly finished vehicles, who cares if you can make 1200hp with ur vacuum cleaner sounding Barra falcon that weighs 2 tonne and looks and drives like a boat and has shitty irs rear suspension, 🇦🇺✌🏼😉
@@jettroberts471 im sorry but the falcon has always been the better car. Every engine in the falcon range was more advanced than what holden had. The gutless 3.0 v6, the timing chain and blowing up specialist of the 3.6 v6 and the ancient pushrod v8 with its ticking liftors. And thats just engines. Go to transmissions and the ZF 6 was light years ahead of the holden gm auto. After all rolls royce, bentley, aston martin and jag used it for a reason. And then we go to reliability. Well holden fan boys love to call falcons taxis. I wonder why they chose the falcon platform. May have something to do with the barra will do a million + kms with ease which no holden can ever claim. And if they are such poorly built vehicles, why did the ve had more problems than the fg per 1000 vehicles as per the 2014 vehicle ratings. What are you on about with 2 tonne, every car in the 4 door muscle car class weights 1.7-1.8. Even the mustang does.
Luke Sm sorry mate not talking about driveline, haha good try, I suppose it comes down to what u prefer there I prefer the v8 and thank god it’s still push rod and not twin cam like the fords (ew sounds like crap) I’m talking about complete door handles/armrests falling off, creaky interior, door seals falling off, roof lining sagging, plastic breaking easily, door handles snapping, dripping air con on your foot in interior, shitty icc units getting issues and knobs breaking off, the list goes on, way outweighs holdens issues, yes I know there’s the odd saggy roof lining but that’s about it, couldn’t care less about the Barra engine itself although it does sound like shit, I understand it’s a great engine and so is the zf box but I will never buy a ford for the reason that I don’t want my car falling apart around me, watched it happen to multiple mates across multiple falcon models, I can’t stand them, their ugly they sound shit and they call apart... case closed cannot change my mind, sorry buddy
@@jettroberts471 got an fg on 430k kms. Same engine same box. Never broken a door handle although i can see how a rough person could do that. Idk what plastic u expect to break but the only thing i can remember is door handle. Never had an aircom drip or any aircon issues. Original everything. Shitty icc- motoing journas agreed fords sync 2 was better than holdens equivalent despite only a 100 million budget compared to holdens 500 mil. Nobody has ever broken a knob unless u try to. Only thing i have replaced twice is diff bushes and that was a 50 buck fix. I would rather be replacing a diff bush than an entire engines and boxes but u do u.
I was a service manager in and around the time this car was new. I worked for HOLDEN form 2002-2007 It's no wonder they are gone, they were rubbish. Shit gear shift Engines used soooooo much oil Diffs would blow all the time And don't get my stated on the water leaks. I get cold shivers very time I see one or stand next to one. It's made me leave the car industry all together. Yes they were that bad.
@@brett1526 I just don't want us to all get carried away with how good it all once was, yes I agree that cars where much more interesting and more exciting to drive in and around this period. But unfortunately the truth of the matter is that Holden where rubbish and the treatment of there clients was worse, again not having a cry, just fact. I've never had to cry over cars because I've never bought shit.😉
