The first ever chippy was Leavers in Oldham. And the first fried fish and chios was John lees in Mossley. Leavers opened in 1860 while John's opened in 1863.

I believe Mossley, Wok Man as it's now called, is the oldest. I did THE CHIPPY Mossley a few weeks back. Nice 🍟

@@EddyBrimson They have a Plaque from the Coucil proving it. It says "Home of the first British fried chip. Tommyfield. The first chips were fried in Oldham 1860 From which the origins of the first Fish & chip shop and the fast food industries can be traced from.
